I have used this USB Encoder many times already... My H-Shifter, Buttonboxes, Handbrake etc... It´s very cheap and simple and a good option for people that can´t use an arduino
just stumbled across this as youtube was playing in the garage for background noise.. you just solved a huge issue for me.. and the parts are so cheap on amazon! THANK YOU!
Just few days ago I was thinking of building myself an indicator using two microswitches and now I see this. This is brilliant! Add to cart. Checkout. Pay :D
Just stumbled on your channel, this and your Range-Splitter video. Not only is the DIY awesome, I feel that you should consider building these to sell. They are of great quality, and there are some people, like myself, who are lousy at this stuff! I use a G27, and a spare mouse strapped to the knob of the shifter as a range/splitter. It works, but its ugly. Adding something like yours and this would be great not just for truck simming, but things like Dirt Rally/rFactor etc also. Having lights/wipers, or other functions such as a hand clutch or handbrake assigned to these items, and not the padles on the wheel, would be great.
How did you get the mouse to work as a range/splitter? I tried doing that but the game won't let me. I can only assign buttons that are on the steering wheel to work as a range/splitter.
Excellent, I would like to make one of these as I have the same wheel base. I got some car stalks working myself with a joystick controller but they were always too long to be comfortable, especially with my Rift on so this is great. Ideal for mirroring too for cruise control stalks on the other side.
Wonderful friend, when you told me that you bought the ETS2 already expected some of your tutorials.Much top.I have a G27 I will how to adapt this modification. So your fan! 🇧🇷
Dan here is a first look at a mount for logitech its not final and the measurements are wrong but i am making v2 right now with measurements: www.tinkercad.com/things/88FgT9GteTN
takethree69 if you are talking about a way to mount this on logitech wheels, myself and amstudio are being very creative with the way we make this. we are hoping that the clamp screw and another screw on the bottom of the wheel base will create enough friction to use at this very moment im creating v2 of my product ill send a link for v1 but i have not tested it and i dont have a 3d printer, so dont print it out lol. this is link for mount: www.tinkercad.com/things/88FgT9GteTN

Can you do tutorial on how to make panel with only toggle switches? I've seen the tutorial with buttons and dials and other toggle switches, but it is too advanced. If you could make tutorial for like 6 toggle switches and make it as simple as possible, I think many people would try it themself
hell i just had an idea.. what about a pair of hols drild in the logitech with a pair of threaded rivet inserts..i thnk tht might work..but i still dont have acess to a 3d printer..yet..
Loving your tutorials man! Well made, good quality and easy to follow. I have a question. Could you please consider making a tutorial on a key ignition with a couple positions (as in for example: 1. OFF 2. Accessories 3. ON 4. Start)? In the process of making a sim, and nkt entirely sure how to make it work :).
Really late reply so I hope you got it figured out by now, but if not, or other people might benefit from this: Typically spring-loaded keys like that can be bought in electronics stores (I take it Ebay or Amazon has them in case of no physical store near you, the one for me is about 30 minutes of public transport away from where I live and is rare in existence by now). They will have different contacts, and possibly 1 or multiple grounds (since ignition keys can be experiencing peak power draws in some cases) per switch position. You can tie these to either a type of controller like in the video (I do not trust them due to how cheap they are and do not know how long they will stay working honestly, so I 'm tempted to say that you would be better off using an Arduino Leonardo) or an Arduino Leonardo. Since some switches will have latching contacts (in the sense that hitting the ignition part will be momentary because the springloaded mechanism will make it return to "Electricity on" or "Main systems on", which will be a position that it will keep reporting back to the controller, and might require programming in order to make the controller or the game respond to a state-change of this pin on the switch (some games require the same button to be pressed in order to cease ignition, or shutoff the main feed, for instance). In some cases you might also need a little circuit that will make the game capable of responding to the off-position, which might actually not have a pin on the key switch and will be ignored by the game if it doesn't use "Cease ignition" if all other states of the switch fall low.
I know you have multiple wheels, so why using the fanatec for truck sim ? Because then you will need to remove that when racing... Would be clever to have one of your less "performance" wheel used for truck sim so you could keep every truck sim component on it.
I’m a Patreon and have put the idea forward to him and he agrees he is comming up with something but it is hard to mount on Logitech because they don’t have any mounting holes like fanatec if you have an idea for a mounting point reply to this and I’ll send a pm to him with that idea
Hi amstudio!! Really nice work!!!! I have a question, do you connect all the usb cables direct to your pc, or to a box with a lot of usb connections? Can you recommend one or make a video DIY of a box with a lot of usb connections? Thank you very much and continue like you are doing!!!
David not amstudio but I can recommend the Orico usb hub. Anything works as long as it's a high quality POWERED USB hub. You don't want anything non powered
What would you need to make just a turn signal. I have no electronics knowledge of any kind but with your video illustrating steps, maybe I can make it. Thank
amstudio i hate you so much, all your projects makes me buy a lot of little parts and begins to DIY my simrig! now i spent most of my time just shopping for these parts and DIY instead of playing the games! lol
does it matter if you get the sanwa joystick encoder or the happs one? the link you provide shows a slightly different encoder than in your video; i noticed the one you're using has some missing resistors or whatever they are on the upper right?
hey, another great video! i am going to make this.lol. but i was wondering if ya had any ideas on how to mount it to my g27? as this has me bumfuzld....thanks again, and keep up the good work
@amstudio , sorry to bother you but can you please release the 3d models? As i do not know what to do for any base, fanatec or Logitech (for people who own fanatec as i don't) and after i would need some permission from my school to borrow the 3d printer for this but anyway, keep up the good work :)
What if a "wheel spacer" type thing was made that slipped over the actual wheel atachment and just velcro to the wheel case, and on that spaced type piece you had the case for the turn/ light indicator switch?
Hi, very good job. But i've a question if i can. Where i can find the blue cover. I imagine it's printed with a 3d printer, but there a place to buy it? Thank you.
Amstudio, Dude, really need help. What 3D printing design program do you use? The one I used is not convenient and cant really shape what I want.... And you seem to really be able to design whatever the shape you want...
I built this signal and the instructions were fabulous. Unfortuntaely when i plug in and start up my Fanatec v2.5 wheel it fails to read the signal. Installed a GInput app and it reads it but when the fanatec wheel gets connected it conflicts for some reason??? Even purchased an adapter to attach to Fanatec wheel, USB Female to PS2 male, still nothing. Anyone have any thoughts?
