Very good idea. You make it look easy enough, but I'm a little too lazy so I usually drag out my portable jack hammer anytime I dig post holes. Good luck with your invention.
The Holey Moley reminds me of the drill I saw in a video that was made out of 3/4 inch pvc "I think the size is correct" Where it was used to drill for water.. Both are interesting.. As for the HoleyMoley.. I would figure a way to use the transmission and motor of a washing machine to work the motion of twisting..
I have dug 20 feet with this older PVC model. Our newer diggers are lighter and easier to handle. The reason we don’t make these with washing machine motors is the shipping costs now are approaching 25% of the cost of the digger. Talk about insanity.

Have one made. Wouldn't be that hard. 1 - 5' x 2" metal electrical conduit with treads both ends. 2 - 2" metal electrical conduit couplings. 1 - 4' x 5/8" rebar. 2 - rubber sleeve grips or liquid plastic coating. 1 - 6" thin wall steel pipe. 1 - shop vac adapter And whatever teeth you want to put on it. Take one 2" coupling and have two 8" to 10" of 5/8" rebar to it, opposite each other like a tee. This is your handle. Take the 6" pipe and the other coupling and four prices of whatever length needed to weld the coupling centered. So coupling with four rebar weld to it then placed inside the 6" pipe. Close to the end what will be the cutting edge. Now here is where you can either buy some sort of teeth or just cut teeth right into the 6" pipe. I was thinking you can slice a rough cut circular saw blade like a pizza and drill two holes in each slice and bolt them to it. Up to you. Now put it together. Hole saw part first, thread it to the 2" metal electrical conduit, thread the handle to the other end. You may need to tack weld the handle to the 2" and maybe put a pin through the bottom coupling. Put shop vac adapter on and you are done. The 2" metal electrical conduit is the shop vac extension and the main body. If you ever need to drill larger or smaller holes, just make them. You can unscrew one and put another. If you anticipate having to do so, just buy the size pipes and as many couplers need to the welder at the same time. The shop vac adapter can be made from PVC. One 2" male threaded adapter and whatever size PVC pipe your shop vac hose fits snuggly onto. You may or may not need a reducer bushing. You can also put a 90 degree elbow so the vac hose it not sticking straight up and you are not fighting with it.

Neat idea but only problem is that someone can build one from parts available at any local big box store. Think if I were to improve your design id build a air tight box on top of the wheel barrow and have the vacuum pull the dirt into the wheel barrow.

But the ground doesnt look like clay It looks more like Caliche. I live in northern california and the ground is true hard pan and clay soil between layers of hard pan. Once through the hard pan digging is easy.. Hard pan can be from 1 inch to several feet with in a 10ft run.. I dug a 5ft dia by 4ft deep hole in 20 minutes.. 8 ft away same size hole took me 2-1/2 hours.. I shouldve gotten an explosives permit and blasted the hole.. Perfectly legal..
Shop Vacuums are one of the most under utilized tools. If you have one, try digging with it. If you have a leaking sprinkler or water line, a wet dry vac makes getting the water out of the hole a piece of cake. The prices are not ridiculously low for the performance. Use them till they break, get a new motor, replace brushes, they are easy to repair. They are worth every penny.

Are you willing to buy a 100% made in China delivered direct via Walmart? I'm assuming you are looking for a throwaway that has a lot of plastic good for maybe a dozen holes and you're okay with buying a second one to complete the job if the first wears out. Just wondering where you are coming from?
We understand that, and we know that great ideas often take dozens of iterations to be successful and often quite an expense...however, the pro models should be $300 tops. Unless you're cutting the tube, the teeth and welding it all together yourself, it looks like prototype pricing. You're not going to find a lot of home owners willing to fork over that much cash for something they're going to use a few times when you can rent an auger.

Some of the rocky gravel should go back into the bottom of the hole to help base of the post from sitting in water.
Vacuum excavation is completely useless here with coral rock but this is the best way to make post holes in areas where utilities are marked.

Very nice invention. I rented a gas auger one time and it almost broke my wrist when I hit a large rock. I dont use hand held augers any more.
I have a friend that lost an arm from augers. That is part of my incentive to develop this invention

Here in the Texas Hill Country we have solid Limestone Rock 6" below soil. Invent a digger head for that please! :)

Here is the answer to your improvement idea. Put the bucket in your wheelbarrow and hook to your shop vac and off you go.
