    Canadians can stay in Korea for 6 months with no visa normally, but unfortunately due to covid, Canadians are now required to have a visa since last June. This is due to Canada overreacting and imposing this requirement on Korean nationals first and Korea having to reciprocate.

    Would love to spend three months in S. Korea, too bad Americans can’t do six months like Canadians. (Feels like we would just get use to the country and we have to leave😔)Would it be easy to rent/lease an apartment/condo for only three months in S. Korea? Would a place closer to Seoul be much more in rent? Public transportation would be our mode of travel as it’s not practical to buy a vehicle for only three months.

    • @livetravelasia
      @livetravelasia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      3 months could be tough but I remember tad saying there are hotels or facilities you can rent on base or something? My friend would just air bnb. If covid is over you can easily just visa hop to japan and back.

      It just happened to be the one my friend asked a random real estate agent. He wasn’t a great one either and they were yelling at each other in the end so we wouldn’t even recommend him. Either we got very lucky or as we suspect it’s pretty normal or a combination of both :)

    What!?! I lived in Songtan up the road in 2000-2001 when I was stationed at Osan Air Base, I paid about $400 a month for 2 br. My friend who was stationed at Yongsan and lived in Itaewon paid $3,000 a month.. that was 20 years ago! No inflation in Korea? Also had to pay for my own kerosene for heat, it was like $2,000 whole winter.

    • @livetravelasia
      @livetravelasia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like you might have gotten military pricing cause they over charge for military knowing y’all have housing allowance. And the heating is only that expensive if you are way out in the boonies where there isn’t a gas line

      Its literally right in front of camp humphreys. I am here right now actually with another guy that lives here and they've increased the price too like 700 usd and they say the new people coming in now are paying even more. But checkout the korean apt apps and you'll find lots of places everywhere. Try gyeonggido province. It's the areas around seoul which are much more affordable and newer cities. Unless you have a particular reason to be in seoul, i wouldn't recommend living there

    Did you pay like $50,000 deposit to get this for $600 monthly? This is too good to be that cheap @_@

      It was only 2 months rent. Those kinds of ridiculous deposits are only for places in the very center of Seoul

      @@livetravelasia omg I really need to look for places outside of Seoul. Our budget is $1000 monthly and it's nowhere near this nice. 😔
