1) a) the mag well - There is an allen-head set screw on the bottom to tighten up the mag well. b) The mag well is steel. Taylor Freelance makes an aluminum one for RIA (two versions, one for guns that came with a factory mag well and one for guns that did not). It is wider than the factory RIA mag well. Also available from Advanced Tactical. 2) ammunition - a lot of 10mm is loaded light, closer to .40 S&W. Full power 10mm is comparable to .41 Magnum (more powerful than .357, less than .44). Underwood Ammo loads theirs REALLY hot. Check out their 155gr HTP JHP (775ft-lbs) and their 100gr Xtreme Defender (740 ft-lbs) using Lehigh solid copper bullets. They also sell hard cast lead for deep penetration of tough game. My RIA 10mm will also feed and cycle .40 S&W, so you can use less expensive .40 for the range in the same way that you would use less expensive .38 special in a .357 Magnum. 3) all of the RIA A2 (double stack) frames are based on the Para Ordnance/Para USA "Big Hawg"/14.45/16.40/18.9 frame. So the RIA .45ACP uses Para 14.45 magazines from Mec-Gar, the 10mm/.40 uses 10mm Para 16.40 magazines from ACT-MAG, and the 9mm uses Para 18.9 magazines from ACT-MAG. All of them have the exact same geometry at the bottom of the tube, so fit aftermarket extended base pads meant for the Para 14.45 like the aluminum +2 base pad from Dawson Precision and the polymer +2 base pad from Arredondo. Dawson discontinued the Para Toolless +2 base pad, (item #005-004) but if enough people ask for it at sales@dawsonprecision.com they will bring it back. Other parts (triggers, hammers, grips, etc.) that fit Para Hi-Cap frames will fit the RIA A2 frames. 4) Capacity - ProMag makes 170mm 20-round .45 ACP magazines for the Para 14.45 that will fit the RIA .45ACP. Advanced Tactical sells 140mm and 170mm ACT-MAGs for RIA 10mm (18-19 rounds and 24 rounds) and RIA 9mm (19 rounds and 29 rounds) as well as Taylor Freelance aluminum extended cap base pads.
Have you ever heard of some 10mm ammo that's just a tad too long for the double stack magazine that came with the A2? Had this happen to me with American Ordinance ammo but haven't heard of anyone else having the same problem.
I own several Rock island Armory 1911`s. Anyone that turns there nose up at this weapon is very uniformed. I just purchased my third Rock Island Armory 1911. It is The 1911 10mm Tac Ultra full size. It is the standard 8 shot. But the gun is a tack driver and I have never had any of my RIA 1911`s misfire or jam on me.
Great gun at that price. I have a 9mm STI that comes in at $2500. Its a great gun and I love shooting it, but the quality of the RIA is great for the price it is. Hell thats dan near 4 RIA for the price of one STI. I seriously need that RIA 9mm. Maybe I'll pick one up in 2021
Me personally. After owning my rock island tac ultra fshc 45acp dubble stack for 4 months now. I'm a rock island fan. I look forward to getting my 10mm here soon
Rock Island Armory has 150 CNC machines along with the old manual “Green Machines” that require a lot of skill. Shooting Gallery did a two part story on RIA this last season, very informative.
Jeff Hightower I like RIA. This gun was a loaner but it’s not the first RIA I’ve shot. If I can ever find the 9mm HC in stock I’ll probably pick one up
I own a RIA 52000 and can honestly say it is worth WAY more than the $1000 I bought it for. It's my first and only 1911. I have no need or want to buy another 1911 at this time. I carry it when I am in the wild and it is my 2nd choice for home defense. Mossberg shockwave being my first. Great video!
52000...that one has a 6” barrel doesn’t it? That is a beast of a gun and I bet it handles really well on the range. I just got the 5” 9mm Tac Ultra this month. Working on the review as we speak. That 10mm is an incredible gun for the outdoorsman. We have bear and cougars locally and that’s definitely the type of gun you want with you while hiking in the mountains of Washington
I bought a RIA 1911 in 45 acp a year ago and it has a better trigger than my Springfield Range officer and has never had a problem where as I had a few jams early on with the Springfield. Acuracy is great on both. I think the RIA was like $450 when I bought it and they really do put out some nice firearms at a good price.
Completely agree. Anyone looking to get into a 1911 should definitely start with the RIA so they can get a feel for owning one. At that price and quality its a great start
I love how this HC feels in my hand,Solid firm grip and the weight makes an easier more accurate shots... I Own the single stack full rail 10mm...Wished I had the HC as well. All RIA Handguns needs some working on its mechanics that I love doing, Fine tuning everything for your liking.... It could be some filing, sanding or even just some polishing some parts on the inside as well the slide... This is all by design as a Working mans gun that you spend time on to make it your own... 👍😎🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸.
Best video I’ve seen on this particular gun by far. Thank you so much! You saved me from getting something i May regret. I was torn on a glock 19 and a Ruger Redhawk .357magnum. I wanted the Glock for self protection and the ammo capacity is great for what is it, but I wanted to Ruger for the knockdown power because I live in Colorado and wanted something a little beefier in case I needed it. It seems that this pistol may be the perfect blend of what I need, not to mention the 1911 was my first gun obsession from the young age of 13 and have always wanted one. .45acp is a tad outdated, so I think the RIA 1911 10mm is the perfect compromise
We have bear and mountain lions in WA where I live. Hell if you drive 30min from my house you need to have protection. The 10mm is a great round for outdoor type protection. Id definitely go with one if you are comfortable with the 1911 and do any outdoor activities where you may encounter something that will eat you
Just bought one for $408. I'm excited to try it out. I went with it because I need something for protection (and I just love shooting) but I am unfortunately poor at the moment lol
I share the same sentiment as you. My first purchase was a Taurus 1911 45. I had been drooling over Sig Sauers, but couldn't justify $1000-1500 difference in price... 8 yrs and a few thousand rounds later, the only issues I've had are 3 to 4 jams due to dirty magazines at the end of a range day with reloaded ammo. I have no disillusions that it is a GREAT brand, but they clearly did something right with the one I bought.
I’ve never seen your channel before but this was a very good review and basically sold me on buying it this weekend if it’s still in stock! Also I’ve already got an RIA revolver so I vouch for their value and quality for what you pay
I appreciate that. Thank you. The RIA is definitely a solid gun and I think it’s definitely worth what it costs. I’ve got more good stuff on the way so make sure you are subscribed
I had the commander size RIA in 10mm and sold it. It was 8 rnds if I remember correctly. It was a little heavy as a carry gun and since I have a kimber ultra carry 2, I sold it. But I was very happy with fit & finish versus $$. Ive since bought a RIA 2011. It’s the Ultra Tac HC in 9mm/22TCM. I’ve not shot the 22 TCM barrel but I love the 9mm! One of my favorite pistols. With the full length dust cover, it a heavy pistol which tames hot 9mm recoil to extremely low levels. Very happy. Might pickup another in 45 or 40 S&W. I reload and 40 S&W & 9mm range brass is so available I tend to go with those calibers if I’m planning shooting a particular pistol a lot.
So I have this exact pistol. When I first shot it, it wouldn't go through a full mag without a malfunction. I replaced the recoil spring and boom problem solved. Since then 100%. Yes the safety lever does have sharp edges but I can live it. I will say the trigger is amazing and it's accurate as can be.
This one is a loaner. It belongs to my uncle. Its incredibly accurate but I have found it to be inconsistent as far as the reliability. I will say its only got a couple hundred rounds through it so Its not yet broke in. But with the cost of the 10mm ammo thats an expensive venture lol
@@jasonjones2113 I know it was a Wolfe spring. I wanna say I went up 2lbs from the factory spring. I shoot full power norma rounds. It hasn't malfunctioned since then.
I bought my first hand gun this year at 37 and m&p shield 40 and got my conceal carry two months ago I went over 20 years thinking I couldn’t own guns because of my younger days I’m thinking about getting one these rock island
Thats great news. Best advice I can give is to put some money into taking some training classes. They seem incredibly over priced but you will learn a lot
Texas BEAST 7 rounds just doesn’t cut it. Give me 10 on top of that and I can have some fun and enjoy myself at the range...or potentially fuck up a bear that’s trying to eat my face while I’m hiking. Best to not take any chances lol
Bought one year’s ago and had to do a little work on it. The front sight came off within first mag! Sent it back and they put the wrong height sight back on it. Was shooting 8” high so I just ordered the correct sight and a heavier recoil spring because it was slinging brass 30 yards! It’s now a sweet shooting pistol but not one I could recommend without disclosing the poor CS or QC!
Its been almost two ears since I did this video. In that time I have spoke with several other people who have the same gun. What Ive gathered is that the QC can be hit and miss. The one in this video was great, no issues...but then the next guy may get one and it have some of the issues yours had. I do think more recently they have worked to clear up the QC issues but that's going to take some time and work. My RIA 9mm was flawless right out of the box and that's a fairly recent build. You should check out my custom grip video for these guns. Nothing better than customizing these things th-cam.com/video/trexAHvoSy8/w-d-xo.html
Idk man I bought my jericho 941 almost a year ago and daily carried it for about 8 months before I gave up. I had been through so many belts and bags its crazy.. i get the feeling that you dont care about weight much at all and that +10mm seems insane
My uncle carries this gun lol…I couldnt do it. Couldn’t keep my pants up. My Jericho was a thing where back then no one had a glock. They were expensive guns at the time. Everyone pretty much carried a metal gun. So that being my first hand gun I just got used to it. Right now though the Hellcat Pro is my daily carry and I love how light it is lol
@@360TacticalSolutions i respect it man you’re definitely a trooper. i downsized and downgraded to a glock 19 and even tho it fits for task and purpose i literally hate glocks, not with all my heart but with most of it and miss my jericho
That is a damn nice pistol I bet the guy that owns that is a stud. Actually you can find them cheaper than stated I only paid $600 for that one. Nice review.
I am a felony probation officer and am allowed to carry essentially any firearm I can qualify with. We have a lot of guys here at the PD and SO carrying Kimber 1911s. Right now I carry a Glock 23 Gen III. It's a fine firearm, but the Glock rep keeps trying to pressure me into going 9mm because he says the .40 S&W round is on its way to obsolescence. I will likely keep the 23 as my duty firearm, but will qualify with this as a backup. Is this gun duty worthy?
For duty use…no, I’d pass. For me the gun would have to be sent off to a place like Hays customs to have the reliability package done to it before I would consider it. Personally I’d lean toward something with looser tolerance for a 10mm duty gun. A 1911 platform in 10mm can be really problematic and they do require a lot of regular upkeep that a 10mm Glock wouldn’t need. The 10mm RIA is a pretty heavy gun that I’m not sure id like to carry all day on the hip. The other consideration is the mags. They havent been real easy to find the last couple years. Its a great gun over all…but its not one I would use for duty
@@freepressright I’m happy to help. This definitely isn’t your average channel. I try and answer as many questions as I can and give the best advice possible. Most creators either dont read comments or pay someone to handle responding…not here, Its all me all the time
@@360TacticalSolutions If I do buy this gun, for any reason at all, it would be my first 1911. I've owned several Browning Hi Power variants through the years, but never dropped money on a 1911. When I think of the deal I passed up 21 years ago on a WWII Remington 1911, I get sick to my stomach. A friend had one with nickel finish and he wanted $450 for it. It needed some reverse electroplating done to repair the finish, and I balked at the price. Told him $450 was just too steep, and if he'd go $350 I'd take it. LOL -- what the hell was I thinking?
@@freepressright 1911 is a great platform, just be aware that its somewhat high maintenance compared to your average striker fired pistol. Mags and extractors have to be regularly tuned in order to keep it running smoothly and it certainly needs more frequent cleaning than my M&P does. Nothing beats the feel of a 1911/2011 as far as shooting though. I think everyone needs at least one in their collection. Maybe pick one up and get some time behind it, watch some video tutorials on tuning mags and extractors and general maintenance. Once you get real comfortable with the platform, then think about it as a duty gun.
Got one just like that except with the bottom rail and the threaded barrel coming in next week. Just turned 21, *super* excited to carry. I'm a smaller guy so I might have to end up getting something smaller if this one turns out to be a bitch to carry.
This gun is a lot of fun, great one for the range or hiking or whatever outdoor stuff you want to do. Id look into a S&W M&P or Glock 19 for concealment. Ya you can totally do it with a 10mm 1911 but its not comfortable and its heavy.
I have a M200 38 special revolver that Rock Island Armory also makes. I also own a Rock Island Armory 1911 10mm. Both have performed flawlessly and are inherently accurate. For the price, $198 and $449, respectively, I would be hard pressed to find better!!
I had a ria 1911 in 45 loved everything about I'm debating on getting a 10mm all my friends have 9mm and 380s my one friwnd has a little of everything he like me prefers cannons because of him I also want the chiappa rino
Thats going to boil down to your personal preference and what you intend to use it for. Over all I would go with the RIA over the Glock. The only real advantage the Glock has is that it weighs quite a bit less. Thats only an advantage if you plan to use it as a carry gun and don't like a heavier gun on your waist. The Glock being light is also a disadvantage. The RIA being as heavy as it is helps with felt recoil. The steel frame doesn't flex like the polymer of the RIA. With it being a heavy gun its going to be a bit more accurate over all. The only downfall in a carry situation for the RIA is that it IS heavy lol. This one was a loaner. It belongs to my uncle who is a real big guy. He doesn't seem to mind carrying the RIA, thats his daily carry.
The 10mm round is a hard hitting round that’s basically a .40 S&W sized projectile coming out of a longer casing with more gunpowder. You can actually use a 10mm as a trail gun in case you come face to face with a bear. I had a Glock 23 which is slightly smaller than a Glock 20 and it’s chambered in .40 S&W. That G23 was so unpleasant to shoot and had so much muzzle flip that I ended up trading it for another gun. In a rapid fire situation is was damn near uncontrollable. I couldn’t imagine that a G20 or G40 is much better. You want a heavier gun to absorb that 10mm recoil. I’d go with the RIA for that reason, plus it looks a lot cooler than the Glocks.
What gun doesn’t wobble tho ??. Slides need to be able to slide they will have wobble , great gun btw never had any problems with it and I love it I carry it with no shame and take it hunting knowing that if I need my gun for protection against a threat I know it’ll have my back.
Erik Orozco a high end or hand fit hand gun will have right tolerances. The slide and rails should be a perfect match so that there is very little side to side or up and down type of movement while still being able to have a smooth gliding motion forward and back. I’ve handle 1911’s at the same price range as the RIA that have quite a bit of slide movement. That’s ok I guess, they still function but over time as the slide and rails wear the gun is going to get sloppy and breakage will occur. I think the point I was making is the fitment with the RIA is incredible. The slide and rails were filed to such tight tolerances you wouldn’t know it wasn’t a $3000+ gun just going by how well they were done. I’d definitely use that gun hunting or as a defense gun, especially while hiking as we have cougar and bear all over the place where I’m at. Still trying to get my hands on the high capacity 9mm version but those things are real hard to come by these days. Found one last year and I knew I should have got it while I could, still kicking myself in the ass over it
Oh you definitely need to check this custom grip video out th-cam.com/video/trexAHvoSy8/w-d-xo.html Nothing better than customizing the grips and making it your own personal style
My one piece of advice would be to field strip it, clean the hell out of it and lube it really well before you take it out shooting. The oil they use when they ship them after assembly picks up a lot of debris and dirt. Its best to clean it and start fresh and clean
@@360TacticalSolutions thanks i always do that first with any gun i get. Im so excited ive wanted a double stack for awhile but i love 1911s. Im in maryland so the mag that came with it is blocked to 10 rounds but im gonna buy some in wv
@@FreedomTimes4130 Im on the west coast in WA and I have a feeling it won't be long till we have the same ridiculous mag restrictions here in the next year or so
@@360TacticalSolutions yeah its bs man. Lucky i live 5 mins from wv. My parents in law can also order me anything online. Maryland you can buy in another state. Just can't buy or sell in the state. So if i go across the river and buy mags they are legal. Its so stupid. Buying your first pistol in maryland is a nightmare too. Like 250bucks in fees before you even buy your gun
So, tell us about which ammos you used in finding one that runs. I will happily tell you which ones didn't run in mine. But the truly odd thing is ALL of the ones I purchased run flawlessly in my SR1911 Target 10mm.
Hell this is an old video, it’s been a couple years, a few dozen guns and several thousand rounds since I did this video. I do remember though that gun preferred heavier rounds over lighter ones
I had never heard that. I do know that Rock Island has a heavy focus on high quality products for the best possible price. Value is something you will get in abundance with their guns. Ive done other RIA reviews since this one and so far none of their guns have disappointed me
I left the two big 1911 groups as well months ago. The I have this brand and it's best attitude is cancer. I don't mind a loose gun or burs on a 1911. But I do expect it to be reliable. So picky on ammo isn't acceptable.
SVTBansheeman that attitude is ridiculous. I own an STI. Love it. But you know what...still searching for the RIA HC 9mm. The snobs out there are horrible. As for the picky ammo on the 10mm, I hear that’s typical for a 10mm in the 1911 platform. Had that one not been a loaner I’m sure I could have tuned it a bit and got it to run I wider variety of ammo but you know, loaner gun lol
Not so much picky about ammo. It's a matter of buying the hotter loaded stuff. 10mm has been kind of put in a bad place because the FBI loading are similar to 40 s/w in terms of power. So when you design a 10mm it's difficult to build one for everything. I run ammo with 600 ft/lbs of energy at the minimum and it's always ran perfect.
Lol as far as mechanical efficiency goes, nothing beats the mechanics of the 1911 trigger. Personally I’m not a 1911 guy, I’m a if it feels comfortable and you can stay on target then shoot it kinda guy. The CZ is a great gun and it has one major thing in common with the 1911...the retail pricing is wildly inflated. I never understood why the 1911 and the CZ line of guns were both so expensive
So- they are no longer built solely in the Philippines. They are manufactured -not just assembled- in Cedar City Utah and Nevada. Seems this hasn’t been big news
A lot has changed in the nearly four years since I posted this video. I would say some of the reason these changes haven't been big news is that larger companies have been overshadowing RIA in the "news" so to speak. I think what would really set RIA on a path to major mainstream success would be if they developed and released a true 2011 style double stack.
My daily carry is the M&P 2.0, my girlfriend prefers the Shield. I don’t think there is a one size fits all option. Everyone is going to have their own personal styles.
K Bower it seems like they are getting harder to find. The 9mm is pretty much non existent and the 10mm is becoming pretty rare. Right now the demand heavily outweighs the supply so if you find one, don’t hesitate, just buy it while you can
mr fool you would think a rail would be standard these days considering most people are moving to weapon mounted lights on their carry weapon. RIA has two versions of this gun, one with and one without a rail. This gun was a loaner and belongs to my uncle who is a bit of a purist when it comes to pistols...he’s not a fan of rails and if there’s an option for a pistol without one that’s what he’s going for. I can respect that, and there are a lot of people out there who see it that same way. So it’s nice RIA gives people the option when it comes to a rail. When I can finally find their 9mm in stock I’ll be looking for the one WITH a rail because I’m a firm believer in using a light
A light is good for your house gun, but I carry everywhere, everyday, I’d I leave the house I have my gun. Not dragging a light around with me all day. And from my experience 90% of the ppl I know that actually carry all the time not just sometimes don’t have lights on them,
This one was a loaner. I’m more a 9mm guy. Been looking for the 9mm version of this gun for the last year and finally came across one over the Christmas weekend. Now I’m just waiting for the background check so I can go pick it up. I do plan to do some grip modification to it in order to slim it down a little bit. Make sure you are subscribed, I’ll be doing several videos with it over the next few months
If there is anyone that can handle that job it’s Packin Holsters. Small home based company. th-cam.com/video/P2Xk7OvxxNc/w-d-xo.html All their info is in that review videos description. He’s made me several custom holsters and never let me down
Jonas Blane II they are amazing guns. I’ve had this one almost 20 years. Can’t even begin to estimate how many rounds it’s had through it and it’s still just as good a shooter as the day I bought it
Two major issues with all 10mm guns are mag springs and recoil springs. A lot of companies will put a recoil spring in that is too light for the heavy, full power 10mm rounds so it runs well with cheap range ammo but not full power 10mm. Or they put a heavier spring in and it runs great with full strength 10mm but wont be reliable with cheap range ammo. Similarly many manufacturers tend to run too light of springs in their mags which causes some real issues with feeding. RIA seems to have gone the other direction with their mag springs and my experience is they are really stiff, almost too many coils. It’s great because they are pretty reliable but a pain to load till they are broke in. I would recommend getting a speed loader to help make it easier till the spring breaks in.
I’ve wanted a 10mm for a long time but I don’t really know if I would want to go with a Glock platform or a 1911 platform... I’m partial to Glocks but I just do t know enough about them I guesd
I have a ruger sr1911 10mm, and a polymer80 PF45 which is a 80% glock 20 frame with a 1911 grip angle. Personally I like my polymer 80 build a little bit more than my 1911, and I would highly recommend it if you choosing between a glock and a 1911. Don’t be intimidated by the whole building aspect. It’s super easy and there are a ton of great tutorials
360 Tactical Solutions the polymer frame handles the recoil slightly better in the hand because of the flex, and I get less muzzle flip with the polymer 80. I shoot mostly Underwood Ammo or the sig sauer fmj, so it’s full house 10mm, but both guns are super manageable in my opinion.
I bought one on Wednesday ,Glock 20 .I personally like a full size pistol, really it's okay. extended mags are fun 15 round capacity magazines are cheaper than double stack 1911 but Glock holds 15 1911 holds 16.I'm not satisfied I think I'm going to go with the 1911 personally not a fan of Glock in general. Glock magazines are more available I think it comes down to personal preference if there's a shooting range you can go and rent both I would .... Just my two cents
Very nice. I am really considering picking up the new M&P 10mm for my collection. Might wait and see if they come up with a 5” version later in the year first
ron Hoffman as far as I can tell they are a proprietary grip. This gun was a loaner and I haven’t been able to find the 9mm version to buy for myself yet so I haven’t put in the research
Not butt hurt at all but this is the umpteenth post i have watched trying to retire the 1911 and the argument is always the 1911 is outdated the 45 is outdated but the 1911 in 9mm is wonderful and futuristic even in limited rounds even no the 9mm is older that's my point i probably took it out on you after viewing multiple rants against the 1911 you might have been in the military or police and i can totally see your view on high capacity i have nothing against it but the vast vast majority of people will never go beyond 3 to 6 rounds in a confrontation i just see it as sales tactics not saying you i also see a trend especially with the young lions an all out blitz to demonize the 1911 and the 45 acp for whatever reason also they use the fbi as there basis and if you read the fbi findings the 9mm is not the better round but they are cherry picking not to mention how wrong the fbi has been they blamed caliber for the miami fiasco when it was piss pure tactics don't bring a knife to a gun fight and don't bring a pistol any caliber to a rifle fight with they new they would face anyway this is long winded and getting away from where we started ass i said you where honestly the 30th vid i watched and i think i took it out on you i also appreciate you responding. I have followed alot of data since before the 1980 data running from the 60s and most of the info quit frankly is just plain wrong again thank you for the reply i enjoyed it
Hey, sorry for the delay. My day job has me working ridiculous hours right now. Personally Id never attempt to sway people to believe the 1911 platform should be retired. Actually Im working on a video right now about custom grips for the 1911. I believe the gun will remain relevant for many years to come. The advent of the double stack, the option for various calibers, the creation of the 2011...these are all advances in a platform thats withstood the test of time. I like the modularity of the 2011, a lot of people like the nostalgic feel of a government issue 1911. That pistol isn't going anywhere any time soon. Everything boils down to preference right? I don't like the feel of a Glock at all. The M&P feels natural in my hand. That doesn't mean the Glock is the wrong gun for everyone it just means the M&P is a better fit for me. The 1911 is the same way. Its not for everyone but perfect for those who it is for
How about shooting a gun you're speaking about! Jesus christ! People wanna see recoil, accuracy and how it behaves! Before you slam me for the opinion...remember that you asked for the comment.
Actually I won't slam you for your opinion. You don't like my video style, that's fine. I tend to focus more on the informational end of things with short clips of the actual shooting footage, which you may have missed if you didn't watch the whole video but again that's fine. My goal is normally to keep videos under 15min and pack as much information as possible into that time. If you are in to videos that are 30+ minutes, minimally informative, loaded with loud guitar riffs, saturated with repetitive shooting footage that could have been cut down by 3/4 and still given you an idea of how the gun recoils and performs....well, this is not the channel for you. No judgement though, everyone has their preferences
I appreciate someone who goes that far to list all the particulars you wanna know. Well done 👍
What about blue loctite at the front of the magwell?
Have you ever heard of some 10mm ammo that's just a tad too long for the double stack magazine that came with the A2? Had this happen to me with American Ordinance ammo but haven't heard of anyone else having the same problem.
I own several Rock island Armory 1911`s. Anyone that turns there nose up at this weapon is very uniformed. I just purchased my third Rock Island Armory 1911. It is The 1911 10mm Tac Ultra full size. It is the standard 8 shot. But the gun is a tack driver and I have never had any of my RIA 1911`s misfire or jam on me.
Love the RIA guns. Im going to be doing another RIA review around the first part of the year. Single stack 10mm. Im looking forward to that one
I just noticed his T-shirt. LOL
Midgett hookers sound like a good time 🤣🤣🤣
I have this 1911 and I’m very pleased. It’s a well built hand gun. I paid $620.
Great gun at that price. I have a 9mm STI that comes in at $2500. Its a great gun and I love shooting it, but the quality of the RIA is great for the price it is. Hell thats dan near 4 RIA for the price of one STI. I seriously need that RIA 9mm. Maybe I'll pick one up in 2021
You beat me by $5.67, still very happy with my purchase.
Me personally. After owning my rock island tac ultra fshc 45acp dubble stack for 4 months now. I'm a rock island fan. I look forward to getting my 10mm here soon
I do love the 10mm…I just dont love the cost of the ammo lol. Luckily with the RIA I save money and still get a great gun
@@360TacticalSolutions absolutely. I live in WA state as well.
Ah nice...perfect gun for this area.
Just got a single stack one last month it's a great gun love 10mm
Wish they made the single stack with a threded barrel
They are great guns. You should take a look at the custom grip video I did

Id definitely go with one if you are comfortable with the 1911 and do any outdoor activities where you may encounter something that will eat you
Bought one earlier this year. I really like it so far !
Just bought one for $408. I'm excited to try it out. I went with it because I need something for protection (and I just love shooting) but I am unfortunately poor at the moment lol
I think a lot of us are in that same boat. The 10mm is a great protection round. Cant go wrong with it
I share the same sentiment as you.
360 Tactical Solutions I can always give a sub to a fellow M&P carrier/lover! Looking forward to more from you brother
I feel you on the 1911 dogma. Great video!
Thanks for watching!
Great review, I saw these for $433 today, 5/19
I wouldn’t pass that up. That’s a great price
Wow what recoil spring did you use ?
@@jasonjones2113 I know it was a Wolfe spring. I wanna say I went up 2lbs from the factory spring. I shoot full power norma rounds. It hasn't malfunctioned since then.
Awesome
Appreciate it
I bought my first hand gun this year at 37 and m&p shield 40 and got my conceal carry two months ago I went over 20 years thinking I couldn’t own guns because of my younger days I’m thinking about getting one these rock island
Thats great news. Best advice I can give is to put some money into taking some training classes. They seem incredibly over priced but you will learn a lot
3:45 "I just can't get down with 7 rounds."
True dat!
Texas BEAST 7 rounds just doesn’t cut it. Give me 10 on top of that and I can have some fun and enjoy myself at the range...or potentially fuck up a bear that’s trying to eat my face while I’m hiking. Best to not take any chances lol
7 rounds is more than enough
Death Spaniel 7 rounds in a mag is enough in addition to extra mags + a few thousand around the house
About to order the 6" tac hc 10mm. Easier to carry than my AR when I'm camping.
Definitely a top choice for a hiking gun.
I love my rock island double stack 10mm it's a beast.
Nothing better than customizing these things

David Noahr lol try even finding one these days let alone at that price. I should have spent my early 20’s investing in guns to resell right now
I am a felony probation officer and am allowed to carry essentially any firearm I can qualify with.
@@360TacticalSolutions thank you for the intelligent and thorough reply! Your knowledge is much appreciated!

I have their bbr 3.10 double stack 45 I paid $510 and I love it for being plam size it’s a little snappy but a lot of fun
They make incredible guns thats for sure
I had a ria 1911 in 45 loved everything about I'm debating on getting a 10mm all my friends have 9mm and 380s my one friwnd has a little of everything he like me prefers cannons because of him I also want the chiappa rino
You think this, glock 20, or glock 40? I’m in between all these three guns and can’t make a decision.
@@360TacticalSolutions thanks man I appreciate it that helped.
I didn't like the idea of the unsupported camber of the glock I've seen them blow up plus I always wanted a model 1911
Found one last year and I knew I should have got it while I could, still kicking myself in the ass over it

th-cam.com/video/trexAHvoSy8/w-d-xo.html
Nothing better than customizing the grips and making it your own personal style
I have one in 45acp and its awesome. Im sure the 10mm will be the same
My one piece of advice would be to field strip it, clean the hell out of it and lube it really well before you take it out shooting.

So, tell us about which ammos you used in finding one that runs. I will happily tell you which ones didn't run in mine. But the truly odd thing is ALL of the ones I purchased run flawlessly in my SR1911 Target 10mm.

Tightin the Allen screw at the bottom of the mag well it will tightin that up
This video is super old. I think I covered that in the follow up to this
I was told they bought the original colt 1911 molds and such?? If so… it should be an incredible put together weapon
I had never heard that. I do know that Rock Island has a heavy focus on high quality products for the best possible price. Value is something you will get in abundance with their guns. Ive done other RIA reviews since this one and so far none of their guns have disappointed me
I've got a black G20 and an FDE XDM10. If I get a Rock Ultra 10, I want to have it cerakoted in distressed maroon, for some variety in my collection.
Texas BEAST I think I’d go distressed blood red. Like Deadpool red. That would be a sick look on a 10mm 1911
The trigger can be beat. CZ shadow2 Orange 😉. As the 1911 guys dog pile on the CZ guy 😁
I think what would really set RIA on a path to major mainstream success would be if they developed and released a true 2011 style double stack.
the grips are proprietary, you can only get replacements from RIA, they do have different colors though if that's important
I tried a 1911 but I just can’t put down my M&P shield
My daily carry is the M&P 2.0, my girlfriend prefers the Shield. I don’t think there is a one size fits all option. Everyone is going to have their own personal styles.
Can you realistically conceal carry that beast?
haha me personally? Hell no. Not even close. That 10mm is my Uncles daily carry though. He’s a big guy and doesn’t have an issue doing it

@@360TacticalSolutions oh nice thanks.
I still don't understand why light rail is not standard for 1911
mr fool you would think a rail would be standard these days considering most people are moving to weapon mounted lights on their carry weapon.
And from my experience 90% of the ppl I know that actually carry all the time not just sometimes don’t have lights on them,
Lol Small to medium , you have huge hands . I want that dibble stack but idk if my hands are large enough

Is your Jericho 941 a sa or da/sa?
That’s a Da/Sa
@@360TacticalSolutions thanks. I prefer the da/ sa slide mounted safety models.
Jonas Blane II they are amazing guns. I’ve had this one almost 20 years. Can’t even begin to estimate how many rounds it’s had through it and it’s still just as good a shooter as the day I bought it
Anyone having issues fully loading the mag
Kelby Corey that’s a tough choice to make. The Glock is known for its reliability but a tuned 1911 beats a Glock all around
Abel Straw how’s the difference in recoil between those two? Curious how the polymer frame handles it next to an all metal gun
LMAO! Great shirt.
Haha Thats such an old video. I forgot about that one

ron Hoffman as far as I can tell they are a proprietary grip.

I have followed alot of data since before the 1980 data running from the 60s and most of the info quit frankly is just plain wrong again thank you for the reply i enjoyed it
Responding again to be clear i mean the montra they are pushing today i believe is very wrong
