An excellent analysis of our defence policy as seen in last four and half years. Mr Sawhney's assessment of interoperability between China & Pakistan in hostility is sure and both the countries are preparing for that with joint exercises for last few years. PLA activity in Northern Kashmir & Aksai Chin area is also evident from PLA exercise on a large sand model depicting Aksai Chin & Eastern Ladakh since 2005. The exercise continued till 2015 with large scale PLA Army & Airforce participating for six months a year. The same has reduced since summer of 2016. President XI as per new doctrine assigning PLA the task of securing assets of BRI. The Dokalam crisis and its analysis also suggests China intention to extend BRI to Bhutan through Doklam and Jampheri Ridge, which will happen by 2019 or 2020. Our political and military thinkers must think differently in addressing China's aim in our sub-continent. Instead of preparing for a conventional war, we should have better diplomatic relation with China and join in BRI for our own development. This will make Pakistan a country indebted to China and will be a second North Korea. Neither Pakistan will have offensive intention towards India nor China will support Pakistan in any localised conflict. China's more involvement in Pakistan will also have equal share of terrorism in Kashgar & Urmuqi region. India's enemy in 21st century is going to be Pakistan and USA (if we have better relation with China) as National security threat.

This aspect has to be thoroughly investigated by concerned agencies. I am convinced that he is not a serious journalist capable of reporting on sensitive issue of national security. He is highly politically motivated and associated with youth wing of major opposition party.(@ above 65 years) You can sum up all his interviews / news stories without listening or reading them in maximum 2-3 lines as under: 1. Indian forces lack in defence preparedness after 2014 when Modi Government came to power. In Manmohan raj, our forces were well equipped (with Killer Machine MIG-21} and in high spirits. Modi Govt has politicized Indian forces. There was no surgical strike. 2. Indian forces cannot take on Pakistan and China. He has thorough knowledge and information of China’s war preparedness and capabilities which even US and Russian agencies find it difficult to get. India has no match. to China's superiority, 3. To prove somehow that Indian Military leadership has no vision and is weaker than their counter parts in Pak and China. My Conclusion: Not to seriously read his comic stories.

I tend to agree with you. Not only this government but all governments till now have failed to take ownership of defence. Defence services are the one who takes ownership of defence. They do not get the support but have to ask for the support. Now, can you believe it that soldiers in CI ops and on LOC had to wait for bulletproof jackets, now at least situation is better? There is neither the sensitization nor the understanding in bureaucracy about defence issues and politicians do not have time. Thanks, we have professional and apolitical services who feel accountable. Higher defence management requires a lot of improvement. Hopefully, things improve with appointment of CDS.
What an informative and educational interview. Well balanced and he proved deficiencies of not only Indian military but the political leadership viz e vz Pakistan and China. I have subcribed to The Force and wait for his next analysis. But have recommeded to throw light on Chinese biological strategy against Indian e.g if they import a corono virus strain or more powerful one in India, how easily it would be to destroy not only India economically but militarily.

Our political and military thinkers must think differently in addressing China's aim in our sub-continent. Instead of preparing for a conventional war, we should have better diplomatic relation with China and join in BRI for our own development. This will make Pakistan a country indebted to China and will be a second North Korea. Neither Pakistan will have offensive intention towards India nor China will support Pakistan in any localised conflict. China's more involvement in Pakistan will also have equal share of terrorism in Kashgar & Urmuqi region. India's enemy in 21st century is going to be Pakistan and USA (if we have better relation with China) as National security threat.

Pravin Sawhney, Editor of Force Magazine appears to be on payroll of Chinese and Pakistani intelligence agencies engaged in proxy war against India. Maybe he is also getting funding for his anti-national activities through ads from Defence Equipment Suppliers (arms dealers) in his magazine. This aspect has to be thoroughly investigated by concerned agencies.
I am convinced that he is not a serious journalist capable of reporting on sensitive issue of national security. He is highly politically motivated and associated with youth wing of major opposition party.(@ above 65 years) You can sum up all his interviews / news stories without listening or reading them in maximum 2-3 lines as under:
1. Indian forces lack in defence preparedness after 2014 when Modi Government came to power. In Manmohan raj, our forces were well equipped (with Killer Machine MIG-21} and in high spirits. Modi Govt has politicized Indian forces. There was no surgical strike.
2. Indian forces cannot take on Pakistan and China. He has thorough knowledge and information of China’s war preparedness and capabilities which even US and Russian agencies find it difficult to get. India has no match. to China's superiority,
3. To prove somehow that Indian Military leadership has no vision and is weaker than their counter parts in Pak and China.

I tend to agree with you. Not only this government but all governments till now have failed to take ownership of defence. Defence services are the one who takes ownership of defence. They do not get the support but have to ask for the support. Now, can you believe it that soldiers in CI ops and on LOC had to wait for bulletproof jackets, now at least situation is better? There is neither the sensitization nor the understanding in bureaucracy about defence issues and politicians do not have time. Thanks, we have professional and apolitical services who feel accountable. Higher defence management requires a lot of improvement. Hopefully, things improve with appointment of CDS.

Praveen Swahany should have been actively employed by the Government to modernise our defence forces, making Indian force a modern fighting force expanding in all facets of defence including Cyber Attacks, AI, and Electromagnetic front, not just putting everything on tactical battles; because if China can win by non contact war what they did in Doclum , why will they send their soldiers to be killed in tactical battle?

According to earlier analysis of this analyst (and ground reality as well), India does not have capacity (not numbers but preparedness) for even conventional war with Pakistan (many different fronts not nuclear). Thats not completely true. Yes India has a big upper hand over Pakistan while for the Chinese front, the Indian Forces are more on a defensive war and thats what is the need due to tough mountainous warfare
