Driston28 watching my fave, angemon, fight a mega level digimon and not get outright destroyed was a great way to cement him as my go to whenever I play a digimon game.
Correction: After Beelzemon murdered Leomon, Takato's hatred of the former Digimon forced Guilmon to go into a dark Mega level, which could have put an end to the Digital World. So out of control that he lost his Digivice. However, after bringing Guilmon back and realizing that he had hurt more than he had helped, he and Guilmon made the wish to fight as one, and the first Biomerge occured: Gallantmon!
and not any "dark Mega level". That was none other than Megidramon, the Evil Dragon of "the 4 Great Dragon" (with Asururmon, MagnaDramon and GodDramon). That fight was something between 2 of the most vicious and evil Digimon ever made.
Honestly omnimon vs diaboramon was one of the best fights I've seen across ALL anime. It wasn't just brute strength; even though omnimon overpowered diaboramon, it took Izzy's tactics as well to take him down. Truly, that was an amazing fight; the culmination of Courage, Knowledge, and Friendship.

The fight between Beelzemon and Gallantmon has to be the best when you consider how personal that fight was. They did more than just the typical fight dynamics for that one. You got to see Takato and Guilmon at their finest, whipping out every tactic they could think of when faced with the rogue mega. It is still my favorite fight from the series, easily outclassing everything that came before. And before you take up your pitchforks and torches, I must clarify that I am huge fan of the original series, but the fights in that one never seem quite as personal as the duel between the dragon knight and the fallen angel.
I grew up with Digimon, I remember watching the battle against VenomMyotismon very clearly as a kid. Thankfully Digimon Adventure Tri is faithful to the original series plus more.
As someone who grew up watching The original digimon, and having the digivice toys and what not. I cant tell you season 1 2 3 and 5 are really good imo all have alot of emotion. The newest movie series is the original characters. One of the movies just released yesterday. They are pretty good so far, bit more mature and violent as it is mostly a throwbackk for the original fans who are now older
Digimon 01 and 02 are my favorite and close to my heart. These seasons made me happy to watch and enjoy. The battles ranked one and two deserves it. Blackwargreymon is my favorite in 02.
I'm sorry but the Tamers taking on Beelzemon should've been number 1. It advanced the characters, had drama, some great fight choreography, is the fight that changed Digimon forever and is the longest fight in Digimon taking 3 episodes for the entire fight without having some minor fight in cut in between
What I mean by Change Digimon forever because up to that point is that up to that point Digimon had been this fun adventure series that would occasionally do something dark, but it was when they took on Beelzemon that showed how dark and twisted Digimon could get. Ever since that fight nearly every season since has been trying to accomplish what Beelzemon did for Digimon. Of an unstoppable force taking on the main cast in order for them to either become stronger or die. Duskmon taking on the frontier gang, the savers cast fighting against Merkurimon, and even Xross Wars fighting Tactimon.
AnimeMasterManWND I have to highly disagree on that. Digimon had shown what you said way before. For example season one: the Devimon arc is the most lighthearted one, but it still was pretty scary. The Etemon arc, the villian was pretty goofy, but he was still pretty intimidating in actual combat, and visibly ruthless and brutal. That still image of him shattering Datamon's head, still won't leave my head. And apart from the bathroom scene with Mimi, Tai and Izzy, there were very few comedic moments, there was actually a lot of drama in that arc. The Myotismon arc had more comedy, but mostly because it was rather long, and it was still more dramatic than it was fun. And the dark masters arc... oh boy. Not only did several old friends get killed on-screen in rather brutal ways, the dark masters were so fucking scary, especially Piedmon. In fact I can't remember anything from that arc that wasn't dark or messed up. And I really don't see the similarities between Duskmon and Beelzemon. Duskmon feels more like a mix between Ken and BWG
I'm not saying that the Adventure series didn't have dark moments and there were definitely moments that stood out, but most dealt with either a physical or psychological threat(Physical=Etemon, Metalseadramon, Machinedramon, Vamdemon. Pshchological= Devimon, Datamon, Piedmon, Puppetmon.) But it was honestly Beelzemon that dealt both with Physical and Psychology to the max. Between being able to kick any of the Digimon ass at this point and having Jeri, Rika, Suzy, Henry, Takato, and even Kazu and Kenta were all having mental freakouts that have major ramifications that either had to get stronger during the fight or die.
While Apocalymon it was "I'm the final boss" and it had a great chance to BE the final fight of season 1. Saddly it all amounted to him using his energy drain to dedigivolve the team, erasing them, FRIENDSHIP, then him getting his ass handed to him, going all turtle, then getting destroyed by the crests. All the build up, not alot of final boss stars and sparklers. Then again its hard to top #1 and the masters of spiral mountain. Still the final episode STILL makes me cry. Sora and Beomon man...Q~Q BFF beyond dimentions? that's some deep stuff!
Eric MacCuish if anything everyone from past seasons vs quartzmon should've been number 1 because that's when everyone was sure digimon was 100% done (lucky us it isnt)
For me the Digimon shows were always more entertaining than the Pokemon show because they generally had some interesting plot going on. Pokemon often gets really repetitive and the forever young MC, Ash, never actually wins the Pokemon league, which is just getting ridiculous at this point. On the other hand the Pokemon games have always had a much more consistent quality than the Digimon games. Admittedly recent Pokemon games were getting stale, but Sun & Moon successfully shook things up again.
seasons 3 and 4 had some pretty badass fights. more action packed than 1/2. The fights and stories truly make this show better than pokemon but I hold both dear in my heart
I liked every season of digimon, and getting to see the best fights from across them all was amazing. I loved how you started with Alphamon vs Omegamon from Tri., and ended with Wargreymon and Metalgarurumon vs Venommyotismon from the first season.
I'm kinda surprised how much nostalgia this brought up in me. A memory of getting really excited when WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon appeared came right back to me.
Not at all buddy. Unlike Pokemon which doesn't have the balls to do anything dark Digimon is regularly ramping up steaks with death and even darker consequences. As Nin Shade says Digimon Avdneture Tri (a sequel to the first series) is really strong in it's story telling and has some pretty f**ked up stuff. And Cyber Sleuth... includes the story of a Homicidal ghost girl who wants to murder people and an Organ Harvesting-Sex Doll story it's hilariously over the top.

Thank you for including some of the battles from Digimon Frontier, of all the Digimon seasons, season 4 will always be my absolute favorite, where as Adventure and 02 will be close seconds. But for some, Frontier is the least favorite, I mean I can't understand *why* . How can you hate that these digidestineds actually *did* something instead of standing around unlike their other predecessors. These kids TRANSFORMED into Digimon and kick so much ass while looking badass. My two favorites were Kouichi and Kouji. Though Digimon Tamers was definitely the most *dark* season of the whole series, so it deserves a giant kudos. The DReaper still gives me shivers down my spine

Major thing I'm pissed about Digimon is that usually 2 of them achieve Mega forms while the rest become useless. Also, Patamon's convenient bs digivolutions when facing the main villain.
Burning Edje that is one of my biggest criticisms about season 5. Yes in 01 only 2 got to the mega level but everyone else could still go ultimate and contribute with the same thing happening in 02. But with 4 they had to give up their powers so all the focus could go to the other 2 like it has been for the entirety of the season.
Laughing Club Pokémon the anime got boring a long time ago. Pokémon movies were alright. the games are it's shining point. digimon the anime is not boring (anything from entertainment ing to great). the movies, I can't say I never saw any. most of the games are meh but a few are great.
Tbh, I thought Angewomon vs Myotismon was gonna make it to the list. Myotismon in it's Ultimate form gave the digidestined way more problems than VenomMyotismon or MaloMyotismon ever did and, in ratio, was stronger. Seeing that it took the ultimate form of an angel borrowing literally all the other digidestined digimons was badass.
To be fair VenomMyotismon was more or less "a beast" who just got his form. MaloMyotismon gave them more problems than normal Myotismon did. Adventure 02 is pretty much because of a long term plan he did

While Apocalymon it was "I'm the final boss" and it had a great chance to BE the final fight of season 1.
Saddly it all amounted to him using his energy drain to dedigivolve the team, erasing them, FRIENDSHIP, then him getting his ass handed to him, going all turtle, then getting destroyed by the crests.
All the build up, not alot of final boss stars and sparklers.
Then again its hard to top #1 and the masters of spiral mountain.
Still the final episode STILL makes me cry. Sora and Beomon man...Q~Q BFF beyond dimentions? that's some deep stuff!

CatVsDog '-' It's like comparing Star Wars and Star Trek. People only do it because they have similar sounding names (but Digimon is better).
For me the Digimon shows were always more entertaining than the Pokemon show because they generally had some interesting plot going on. Pokemon often gets really repetitive and the forever young MC, Ash, never actually wins the Pokemon league, which is just getting ridiculous at this point.
On the other hand the Pokemon games have always had a much more consistent quality than the Digimon games. Admittedly recent Pokemon games were getting stale, but Sun & Moon successfully shook things up again.

seasons 3 and 4 had some pretty badass fights. more action packed than 1/2. The fights and stories truly make this show better than pokemon but I hold both dear in my heart

I liked every season of digimon, and getting to see the best fights from across them all was amazing. I loved how you started with Alphamon vs Omegamon from Tri., and ended with Wargreymon and Metalgarurumon vs Venommyotismon from the first season.

Not at all buddy. Unlike Pokemon which doesn't have the balls to do anything dark Digimon is regularly ramping up steaks with death and even darker consequences. As Nin Shade says Digimon Avdneture Tri (a sequel to the first series) is really strong in it's story telling and has some pretty f**ked up stuff. And Cyber Sleuth... includes the story of a Homicidal ghost girl who wants to murder people and an Organ Harvesting-Sex Doll story it's hilariously over the top.
Actor Adam Anouer the cyber sleuth games barrow a lot from persona I suspect they will eventually make a rated M digimon games they are pretty great

its just a mix of guilmon and takato's (i think that was his name) voice, but i agree i wish they had combined Takatos voice with a more evolved voice instead of the rookie voice. Kinda hard to take him seriously

If it wasn't an edited version, I would loved the Japanese footage as an adult man and would never regret it.
Thank you for including some of the battles from Digimon Frontier, of all the Digimon seasons, season 4 will always be my absolute favorite, where as Adventure and 02 will be close seconds.
But for some, Frontier is the least favorite, I mean I can't understand *why* . How can you hate that these digidestineds actually *did* something instead of standing around unlike their other predecessors. These kids TRANSFORMED into Digimon and kick so much ass while looking badass. My two favorites were Kouichi and Kouji.
Though Digimon Tamers was definitely the most *dark* season of the whole series, so it deserves a giant kudos. The DReaper still gives me shivers down my spine
I feel that the Alpha vs Omega is lost when they translated Omegamon to Omnimon. But hey, if you're more familiar with Omni, don't let me stop you.

Best Digimon series ever
Major thing I'm pissed about Digimon is that usually 2 of them achieve Mega forms while the rest become useless. Also, Patamon's convenient bs digivolutions when facing the main villain.
Burning Edje that is one of my biggest criticisms about season 5. Yes in 01 only 2 got to the mega level but everyone else could still go ultimate and contribute with the same thing happening in 02. But with 4 they had to give up their powers so all the focus could go to the other 2 like it has been for the entirety of the season.
I prefer Pokémon over Digimon, but I think both of them are perfectly great shows, especially in the original Japanese.

Pokemon has great merch and games but man if the animes have been utter boring other than XYZ and they cancelled it.
Tbh, I thought Angewomon vs Myotismon was gonna make it to the list. Myotismon in it's Ultimate form gave the digidestined way more problems than VenomMyotismon or MaloMyotismon ever did and, in ratio, was stronger. Seeing that it took the ultimate form of an angel borrowing literally all the other digidestined digimons was badass.
To be fair VenomMyotismon was more or less "a beast" who just got his form.
MaloMyotismon gave them more problems than normal Myotismon did. Adventure 02 is pretty much because of a long term plan he did
