Rewatching Set It Off as an adult i’ve come to the realization that the crew did not make smart decisions. Stoney shouldn’t have torn the check up that she scarified her body for & she should have filed a lawsuit against LAPD for Stevie’s death, Lorenz played by Samuel Monroe Jr. is the eternal typecast. If you look up the word typecast in the dictionary you’ll see his picture. Even though the ladies got money & away clean after the first robbery they were getting prepared while inside the bank, they should have used different disguises, put the money into different accounts as if was their pay from work instead of hiding it at Luthers.
I know after she ripped up that check, she started crying again lol. And I agree about Stoney needing to file a lawsuit, the same way Frankie needed to file one for her firing. They both actually had good odds of winning and getting more money than what did from robbing the banks. You can't watch one hood movie from the 90s without seeing Samuel Monroe Jr, lol, I don't even think he was acting. And yes, I wish they made better decisions. I was rooting for them, but they were making it hard 😂😂
It has been many years since I've seen this movie! I teared up again from watching your review. 🥺There were many mistakes made by these people but their punishment didn't match the crime. Definitely a reality movie that is timeless.
I really wanted Frankie to go with Stoney. They never should have split up when they left Cleo. They could have made it bc the cop owed them BOTH! He killed Stoney brother and cost Frankie her job!
Out of all the times I've watch this movie, I never knew that lol. I always wondered why they both had it, it makes so much sense now. Thanks for the fun fact!!
"SET IT OFF" had a great soundtrack with music by BRANDY, TAMIA, GLADYS KNIGHT and CHAKA KAHN; ORGANIZED NOIZE featuring QUEEN LATIFAH; BONE THUGS-N-HARMONY; EN VOGUE; RAY J.; BUSTA RHYMES; SEAL; GOODIE MOB; SIMPLY RED; QUEEN LATIFAH; BLULIGHT AND MORE
The THEME of "SET IT OFF" explores the challenges faced by working-clasd women of color, the economic struggles of its characters, and the buried realities of an economic system that does not allow women to afford the lives they lead.
In my opinion queen latifah really had no reason to do what she did she wanted the car the other 3 at least something kim wanted to provide for her child but the last two yayy jadas brother died and vivcas position in her decreased from bank teller to a janitor 😅
The cops were the villians of this movie lol
Cops are always the villains 😂😂😂

I agree, especially with the last 30 minutes. It was a none stop emotional roller coaster. The way that they were taken out gets me every time.
@@ChillExfoliations For sure! Movie had most of us like, "they were only trying to have a good life and do good! They don't deserve THIS!😭"

I agree. They did Frankie so dirty in the beginning and I really wanted her to win in the end. She honestly deserved it.
6:07 he got AP for Acorn Projects the apartment complex he got the haircut in. he was young and trying to be cool.

I agree, Cleo was just robbing a bank just because lol.
