- I am exploring the skin of my face with a cheap USB microscope. When viewing my freshly shaved chin, I almost got a bit of Trypophobia. This is the fear of holes. My freshly shaved chin has tiny holes in it where the beard grows. This looks a bit strange. [112]

When observing my forehead, I could also see sweat droplets forming. The hair on my chin is one day old. After shaving it sometimes appears as if the beard was cut even beneath the skin.
I also put the clippings after shaving under my compound microscope and saw that there are many ciliates swimming around. From where do they come from?

Those aren't lice those are face mites. Everyone has them on their face you cannot get rid of them

It's likely that they grew on the razor, if you reuse blades for a week or so.

I am shopping for microscopes to take pictures of my coin collection. When your thumbnail for this video showed up in my search I HAD to take a look. Well! You are a cool teacher... your students are very lucky to have someone willing to get them interested in exploring the micro-universe of your face. Now I suddenly need this microscope though I don't think it will work for coins since the LED lights will cause glare on the coins. (The light needs to come from the sides on coins)

When I see the pieces of beard hair, I always realize that the body quite uselessly turns nutrients from food into this and the production of this material has such a high priority that is still continues even when the body needs to fight infection and should prefer making antibodies.

The hand held one was a no-name USB microscope that I ordered from China. It cost me EUR 7.
@@Microbehunter Wow, didn't expect it was that cheap! I used to loosen the lens on a USB webcam (effectively increasing the distance between the lens and the sensor) and make it into a crappy microscope. Was able to see the hairs on mosquito antennae to tell apart male and female. :)
