+Godzilladeathmatch Someone asked me the other day which of their songs was my favorite, and I had to give them about 8 answers, because there are so many great choices.
To me they sound better live. The studio over produced some of their stuff and it doesn't sound near as good as live. True musicians. Today's Pop and most rock entertainers have to be studio-ed to death. They aren't musicians like these guys, just performers.
Radio and the recording industry killed itself and along the way ruined a way of life for many musicians. God bless the ones that can still survive on the road. With this world pandemic going on, who knows if touring will ever come back to normal. It's a sad day for lovers of music and the ones dedicated to doing it for a living.
Buck's guitar playing is unfrakken believable!!!! Buck holds the distinction of being the only guitar player whose songs I find myself rewinding over and over and over again just to relive the guitar solos. Hendrix, Page, Clapton, etc. can't get that kind of reaction from me. Buck is a little dude, but he is a BEAST on the guitar.Sheesh
Yeah, Buck was a great guitarist and had a rather different style, as it wasn't particularly bluesy. Lots of unique riffs & licks. Definitely one of the most underrated guitarists in rock.
You ain't lying!!!! Damn, that man has an amazing and beautiful voice. Eric ran it like a BOSS. Lawd, was he FINE and SEXY. Eric and Leon Russell tie for the greatest rock and roll frontman of all time, imo.
A Thrilling Boogie Fest .... Bloom posturing, Buck tearing it up & if that isn't enough it has bizarre Flying Saucer lyrics .. what's not to love about prime 1978 Blue Oyster Cult ??? .. seminal rock n roll from America's greatest ever hard rock band.
Saw these guys when I was in junior high. It was the tour with the absolute INSANE laser show! First ever. Lights out of the drum sticks, diffused across the front of the stage that they'd jump in & out of, Bloom had a hand held laser, and when his voice soars in the chorus he raise the laser up slowly then held it on a giant spinning disco ball-which of course the light diffused & shot out into the audience! SOOOO FREAKING COOL!!! These guys started with early metal then sequed into Specters (I think that was the tour LOL) with Reaper & my own fave I Love The Night. They covered a nice amount of ground and were never less than a great show live!
BÖC is one of my favourite bands and certainly the most influencial on my work as a composer / musician. I would love your input on the first video of my first album. It got the attention of one of my heroes Joe Bouchard (ex bass player founding members of BÖC) who is following us on Soundcloud but returns from people who likes same music is always the best. If you have just 3 minutes to listen and a bit more to comment, that would mean the world to me. Keep rockin' : th-cam.com/video/Pu_p1wbaCa8/w-d-xo.html
haha. I too saw them back when they were still doing the awesome laser shows. Buck Dharma even had a mirror on the back of his guitar and would bounce laser beams directly into the crowd during the drum solo on the song Godzilla. You were excited about the possibility of getting struck by one. They would never get away with that these days. Glad I got to experience it too! Rock On!
I saw several shows at the Capital Center during this time frame, but I did not go to this one. It was a beautiful place, I was hoping they would keep the building, but they tore it down. It was near where the Commanders play now, FedX Field. Ticket prices: Aerosmith - August 28, 1975 $5.50, Paul McCartney and Wings - May 16, 1976 $9:50, Aerosmith - November 9, 1978 $7.70 Van Halen - July 28, 1981 $9:90. There are some others - you get the idea, concert tickets were cheap in those days.
I saw you guys live in concert I think it was 1976 in Connecticut, it's sort of a blur as far as the date (lol). Phenomenal show! It was BOC, Foghat, & Rush. A damn show to remember. Yes I'm old, but I saw all the great bands! 🤘
BÖC is one of my favourite bands and certainly the most influencial on my work as a composer / musician. I would love your input on the first video of my first album. Incredible band... they are better musicians than any of the hard rock bands in the RRHOF and deserve much more recognition and respect... on your feet of on your knees
I have always loved this song it makes me feel a certain special way, I long for these days again which will never happen . I saw these guys in 1977 and on the same tour in 1978 Thin Lizzy was warming them up in 1978 it was at the Flint IMA Auditorium for $7.50. Then I saw them June 28th 1981 w Humble Pie at the Pine Knob, RIP Steve Marriott . I saw them at the Pine knob again in 1998 with Nazareth and April Wine warming them up . Then I saw them at the palace in 2001 with Foghat warming them up , and in 2003 at the Pine Knob with Foghat warming them up again. I have been to almost 150 concerts andl I have seen BOC six times which is the most out of any band
This song is amazing. Their performance here is the true essence of rock and roll. They are master showmen who pioneered the use of lasers in a rock show. I was there. I saw it live, and let me tell you the impact of this song was grand! They belong in the RRHOF.
I saw them on this tour in Huntsville, AL. They were still doing the huge laser show during the concert then. I think their equipment truck carrying all the laser equipment wrecked about 2 weeks later and that was the end of those incredible light shows.
It's easy to focus on Buck but this whole band is killer. It's not the same without the original members. Obviously we can't get Allen back but it would sure be nice if Joe and Albert were invited back.
I was 18 in 78,,, i bet i had more fun to this song than you guys,,, You guys were Awesome,,,, never ever missed one of your shows,,, man do i miss them days, 60, now, i still love hearing ,just like 78, or 76, 75, 74,,, take care,,, BOC,,,LIFE FAN
Buck Dharmer in white and in fine form. Lots of awesome guitars and lights, lasers. The best live band I ever saw besides Pink Floyd in Foxboro.(learn to fly tour).
Well I have a theory.. BOC are one of the greatest US rock bands of all time...emerging post 60's early 70s soft rock rubbish and before the official emergence of "Punk" like MC5 they are the real deal - as an ex a pom now in Oz I get it. These chaps are up there with the elite, the stranglers, Hawkwind et al defined only by their true belief in the church of rock n roll! Don't fear the reaper indeed cobber!
@Jack Wehrung I saw them in concert around 1981/82 & I think they played the Telephone book electronically that night ... it was terrible. I did see them the year before & they were very good & I loved most of their albums up to 1982 time tbf.
BÖC is one of my favourite bands and certainly the most influencial on my work as a composer / musician. I would love your input on the first video of my first album. BOC is a powerhouse live band. Their earlier overcompressed overproduced records hardly capture the nuance and incredible dynamics of this band. They are amazing live. My only disappointment was that ETI wasn’t included in their last show i saw. They are so talented and i cant give Buck enough credit for his fretboard knowledge and playing the perfect licks that just lock right in with the backing chords. Really nice guys too.

Sea, Salt, Wind, and Air Temperature. Long Island must have the perfect mix to grow something like BOC. Cros of Chronos, Umlaut over the O. A refuge from Disco. BOC was at the right place at the right time.
Some Enchanted Evening was what got me into these fellas. Try and get hold of a copy of the vinyl (preferebly Columbia red label as I think the mastering and editing was different on some of the songs). Some unbelievable playing on that. Not you r Eddie Van Halen style but explosive Buck Dharma completely different.
Later that night some rabid BOC fans attending the show painted a huge hook and cross symbol on the paved entrance to my High School. I became a fan immediately.

single most under-rated song in the history of rock and roll
Along with about 40 other Blue Oyster Cult songs ..........
The whole band is underrated. I saw the in 81 or 82 at the Mid South Coliseum in Memphis Tn. and they rocked.
got the album when it came out and this song still thrills me. and this summer ain't the summer of love either! timeless talents
Single greatest band in classic rock History
Great album on the heels of the brilliant Secret Treaties
my god what a band...so much more than the only 3 songs you hear from them on the radio...
+Godzilladeathmatch Someone asked me the other day which of their songs was my favorite, and I had to give them about 8 answers, because there are so many great choices.
absolutely agree....so many great songs from them...!

This one has such an aggressive sound to it & at the same time it's really heavy

@Kelly Atkins
What do you mean “was?” He’s still around and in the band!
Eric Bloom is THE MAN! One of the best rock singers I've ever heard!!
+Ray Ray (Chobits60) and ever seen!
You ain't lying!!!! Damn, that man has an amazing and beautiful voice. Eric ran it like a BOSS. Lawd, was he FINE and SEXY. Eric and Leon Russell tie for the greatest rock and roll frontman of all time, imo.
Super fucking underrated. One of the greatest rock frontmen EVER
It's a sin they're not in the music hall of fame!
I especially love the live version of this song. These guys are definetely in the top 5 best American hard rock bands of all time.
Saw these guys when I was in junior high. It was the tour with the absolute INSANE laser show! First ever. Best live band that I ever saw!
best live album

The critics choice. The thinking man’s metal.

Saw these great musicians more times than i can remember...:)
I was there. outstanding performance then and now !!!
BOC is one of ny favorite rock bands. Im talking creme de la creme!!!!!
Mere words cannot describe how much I love this song and this band. Another one of their awesome story songs.
Big bad Buck. True guitar hero.
My roommate at the U of A back in 79 played this song constantly! The riff is incredible and it stuck in my head for years!!
Eric is an incredible bad ass!
Yep, Eric is a Renegade! !!!
I saw you guys live in concert I think it was 1976 in Connecticut, it's sort of a blur as far as the date (lol). Phenomenal show! It was BOC, Foghat, & Rush. A damn show to remember. Yes I'm old, but I saw all the great bands! 🤘
This riff is freakin' awesome..
They are still rocking!

How these guys and Yes are not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a travesty. Both band had hits in the 70's and 80's. What more do they need?!
RnR HoF is a joke. Madonna, Tupac, N.W.A.? Not rock.
Nahh. These guys are way better than the RRHF.
exactly@@Ziggy_Moonglow
one of the best bands ever...have all their albums..they introduced me to rock and roll :)
Incredible band... they are better musicians than any of the hard rock bands in the RRHOF and deserve much more recognition and respect... on your feet of on your knees
Buck is the Master shredder and Eric is the Master singer and showman. Oh, and they were both fine and sexy, to boot!!!!!
Best Song Ever..
one of the best live songs ever
This band was truly amazing back in the late 70's. Long Live Rock !
I saw them a year ago. They're still amazing!
It's so hard to get that true magic back, BOC rules
Dam i've rocked a many of decade's to these dudes , Rock on B. O. C. !

i was at this show. one of the most thrilling ever!
The good old days , Allen is very much missed.RIP
I saw them on this tour in Huntsville, AL. They were still doing the huge laser show during the concert then. I think their equipment truck carrying all the laser equipment wrecked about 2 weeks later and that was the end of those incredible light shows.
Some enchanted evening indeed!
What a beauty!!!
Perfectly beautiful!
Low key one of my vERY favorite BOC songs! THAT is saying something indeed! 🤘😎🤘
BOC is the nectar of the planet. Buck can pilot my saucer news. They are so good there simply isn't anyone else. The fruit of life.
In '78 BOC was the hottest concert in the country!
1976, 16 years old, 1971 Impala ,8-track I was an Agent of Fortune. 2020, 59 years old 2017 Fusion CD player and STILL AN AGENT OR FORTUNE !!!
This doesn't have enough views!!!
I wish I was there for that
Great performance!
It's easy to focus on Buck but this whole band is killer. It's not the same without the original members. Obviously we can't get Allen back but it would sure be nice if Joe and Albert were invited back.
still amazing in 2019.

Found BOC thru my late father, he was many good things, al over of great music definitely, Love till I die !
If you think this version kick ass (& it does) .. just see the 1977 version on Super 8 film on Buck's channel .. it's incredible ...

GREAT SONG!! I had the album Some Enchanted Evening.Arthur F. Scaltrito.
Fantastic. Such a good song and such a terrible light show :) I was there. :) I love BOC. Genuinely great band.

Why did Buck ditch all the Gibsons? They sound SO MUCH BETTER. That gorgeous, thick, rich and woody sound has departed.
Non sequitur... My father taught graduate Mechanicsl Engineering at Stony Brook from '66-68, and left for R.P.I. in Hartford.
Seven people haven't found the saucer neeeeeewwwwwssss
Do report them
Later that night some rabid BOC fans attending the show painted a huge hook and cross symbol on the paved entrance to my High School. I became a fan immediately.
Buck is wearing that poor guitar out!!!!! I hope that guitar recovered.
BOC'z...go back in your way back machine to a Rolling Stone critique of their Hot Rails To Hell LP....or their abouts...kinda stoned now! Heh, heh!
Ripping!
Psst. Come here.
I hear the music, daylight disc,
Three men in black said, "Don't report this
Ascension," and that's all they said.
Sickness now, the hour of dread.
All praise.
He's found the awful truth.
Balthazar.
He's found the saucer news.
Wait! There's more.
I'm in fairy rings and tower beds.
"Don't report this," three men said.
Books by blameless and by the dead.
King in yellow, the queen in red.
All praise.
He's found the awful truth.
Balthazar.
He's found the saucer news.
Dead leaves always give up motion.
I no longer feel emotion.
When prophecy fails. The falling notion.
"Don't report this, agents of fortune."
All praise.
He's found the awful truth.
Balthazar.
He's found the saucer news.
Letra:
Come here
I hear the music, daylight disc
Three men in black said, "Don't report this"
"Ascension, " and that's all they said
Sickness now, the hour's dread
All praise
He's found the awful truth
Balthazar
He's found the saucer news
Wait, let's move
I'm in fairy rings and tower beds
"Don't report this, " three men said
Books by the blameless and by the dead
King in yellow, queen in red
All praise
He's found the awful truth
Balthazar
He's found the saucer news
Dead leaves always give up motion
I no longer feel the motion
Where prophecy fails, the fallin' motion
Don't report this, agents of fortune
All praise
He's found the awful truth
Balthazar
He's found the saucer news
Buck in prime form... did this performance make it onto Some Enchanted Evening?
Man, Albert’s in the pocket, isn’t he?
Stoneybrook's finest.
sucks that you can't see the lasers shooting out his arms
I always thought Eric's howl was a bit lack luster in his later performances, it sounds great in this one though
Buck the master!
nice vintage footage.tobacco burst.
the drum roll at 1:52 tho
Who’s listening to E.T.I. during the pandemic??
everyday!
Mike Watt brought me here!
Buck Dharma. Enough said
