I’m proud to a copy . He’s a stunning figure. I would’ve appreciate it , if he had that metallic purple appearance from the show. Other than that , he’s awesome.
Still one of my favourite Prime figures that I still have! Sadly on mine, the tank tread/cannon hose is splitting, so I can’t risk taking it out of the tread housing anymore… Fun fact: in tank mode, the rear treads can actually telescope outwards to better match the width of the front wheels! And yeah, the chest window does have a better locked-in position in tank mode, but I absolutely don’t blame you for not forcing it! :-P

Last night my 14 year old son told me that TF Prime was his “G1” Transformers Cartoon ❤️, because even though we watched G1 first, he was a bit older when we watched Prime (it debuted the year he was born LOL) and he remembers it better, along with the figures.
So just to confirm, that cannon is permanently his left arm. All those experiments he did on Cybertron could not have been easy to do with just 1 arm, right?

I picked up all the Prime show figures when they came out so I'm lucky enough to have the original shockwave release with the lab diorama that includes the translucent Predator King 'core' class (legends?) figure in the clear tube when Shockwave was creating him. There are a few colour differences, lighter greys, purple beam etc.. I passed on the figure you have as I really wanted the Takara Beast Hunters version that came with black accessories but never got it.

Would also love to have the Animated Shockwave since his Figure and Design are really Unique imo.
And with this figure there is no yellowing. U should do more of these through back reviews I would love it if you did a review on the APS01u Optimus Prime.

Great Review! I got the Takara Version. I almost bought the Hasbro Version, in the end I bought the Takara one despite been more expensive.... I am so glad I got the Takara one! Definitely the best out of the 2!
That's the cool thing about collectible reviews. We all are after hundreds of old figures. Normally you couldn't do a TH-cam video on an Old product. But with collectibles it's the opposite

For a moment there I thpught there was a re-release!. Have wanted this figure a long long time. Since I started looking over 10 years ago they have always been too expensive, so Id really appreciate an updated version
one of the better figures of that line imo with the least paint apps loss but i would like to see some more 2 tone purple like he has in the line art and some glowing energon accents but still looks nice after all of these years
Great figure. It's a shame that he's so hard to track down in Europe. He and Skyquake are probably the hardest to get. Luckily I was able to track one down from Italy.
i'm surprised nobody mentioned his alt mode is more or less the same as the much newer core class BB Shocwave had, just a narrower butt. IT's definitely interesting to see the similarities. I really like this guy, but I have 0 prime stuff so he'd look out of place (and I don't have the space or money for ANOTHER group XD) I wonder if APC Toys will make one of him eventually.
I loved this figure growing up. But I sorta broke the ratchet joint on the legs. Idk what’s wrong with it exactly but one of the legs moves loosely to an extent regardless of the ratchets.
Do be careful with the rubber thread hose. It cracks and tears up after some time. PS. Best to not unfold it and just leave it be. Also keep those rubbery Beast Hunters Armour pieces separate/unattached when not in use/if displayed for a long time (without them touching any other solid plastic surface). Like most rubbery materials, they react in an unpleasant manner over time.
I'd love a reissue of this without the spinning cannon the button is just a eyesore maybe remove it. Put a small seemless button for a springloaded missile blast and paint thr chest black and put it in legacy don't change anything else

I love this shockwave. Everything in Prime looks like it was designed in the 90s by Fred Durst.

I've got this Shockwave! I've got plenty of the the original Prime figures. I even got Multiple Vehicons to build the Decepticon army like the show.

The back tank wheels can also be pulled apart to give the back of the vehicle mode a wider look.
