One tip I have is to put a different color carabiner on the right side when hung with the zipper facing me! This allows me to always know when I hang it I know what side the entry is facing! Makes set up quick with no guess work. Lastly always pack a rain fly with it’s own ridge line separate. The main reason for this is if the weather gets bad you can deploy it first then once it’s taught you can deploy your hammock and gear out of the weather.
A handy sleeping pad in a hammock starts with one of Walmart’s notorious, blue foam pads. Cut it the length from the top of your head to your knees plus 12”. I’ve hammock camped for years, and no, you don’t need a pad below your knees. At the head end of the pad, cut off the corners. From an upper corner, mark at 15” along the long edge. On the top end, mark in 8” along the short edge. Mark a line between the points and slice it off. Do the same on the other top corner. The two corners can be duct taped together along the diagonal edges. Makes a seating pad, a kneeling pad, and a door step for the hammock or tent. The large chunk that you cut off the bottom will be useful somewhere else. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying.
The cut off section will fit nicely in the back game pocket of your hunting vest as a butt pad to take out and sit on while you rest your tired feet and eat the other half of your sandwich before you begin the long walk back to the truck or your campsite
I know this is an old video, but I really appreciate how you sell quality equipment for every wallet. I know that in your store that even when its inexpensive it isn't cheap.
There's a lot to like about this setup. Once you lay in an eleven foot you won't go back to a shorter hammock. I have those straps on one of my hammocks. Like the colors it comes in as well. Looks like you got everything right... good job. Price is reasonable too.
Could you take a swagman roll or poncho liner and stuff it into the bug net (upside down) to use as a makeshift under quilt in the winter or would that not give enough loft to be effective?
Thanks for the video and for offering the hammock in a subdued color and not florescent blue or bright pink or whatever like you would have to buy otherwise. Probably eventually have to grab up one of those myself
Ever since you started the gladiator build, I'd been on the hunt for a hammock, but hadn't found anything I liked to fit my tall, broken oversized ass to match up with my Wrangler. I like this, it seems tailored perfect to what I would need, not worrying about the ultralight necessarily.
Your beard gives your face a look of just a happier person .. nothing wrong with the previous Dave appearance ,, just gives you a more jolly appearance
Love hammock bites underside is what I had issue with inner tube supported net should fix that. Screen the top and skeeters love you because you can't even swat them.
To>Dave C. I looked on your Amazon link but I couldn't find the Hammock in the video. Also I'm interested in the Receiver Mount for my Truck as there aren't many trees in the N.W. Arizona Desert where I live.
Hmmm. I wonder if you could stuff some sort of insulation in it with the bugnet underneath for winter, between the bugnet and the underside of the hammock? Sleep pad, debris or something. Maybe eliminate the need for an underquilt?
Has anyone have a difficult time getting out of the hammock? When I swing my legs over to get out, I’m sitting so deep, the material cuts into the back of knees. I also need to swing the hammock back and forth to just try to touch the ground. I’ve had used many other double wide hammocks, I haven’t had any problems getting out of those hammocks.
Your hammock with integrated bug net and included tree straps is more compact than my DD single layer hammock with separate tree straps and separate bug net. That alone makes me think this is a good hammock. Also... I think I paid about 50 dollars for just the hammock... so... that sounds like a money saver as well.
Stop making awesome stuff, I have 4 kids and they steal my gear and then I have to buy 5 of everything lol 😆 This would pair well with the snugpak xl jungle blanket
Looks like a great deal. Gotta say that I like the integration of the bugnet on the Pathfinder hammock versus the add-on netting for my ENO. Well thought out, sir.
Damn Dave that's sweet. I already have a pathfinder tarp to go with it. I drive an 06 escape limited that this set up would be badass hanging off the back of. Stay dirty brother.
Awesome designed hammock, Pathfinder is putting out top notch survival equipment. Great demonstration Dave Canterbury,I like this set up. I love your truck as well. I just watched a toggle and cordage video from Connie and Lonnie in Alaska. Either method would work, from Indiana Jones, your crazy next state over neighbor.👍👍
I was also laughing when you sit down and see where you wind up .. we all know occasionally it will be flat of your back on the ground .. 😂. 2 am bathroom trip groggy as all get out ,, dark ,, thinking you have the hammock open properly and realize as your flipping over it was bunched up.. but the best nights sleep in the woods still comes from using a hammock hands down !
My main question regarding hammocks is; With my lower back pains and inability to sleep on my back, therefore causing me to have to sleep ONLY on my side, can I even use a hammock? If I can, this should be the one I buy, I already have the tarp. One of the things about "Pathfinder" products is that every product is field tested before being offered for sale, so it can be trusted to do what Dave claims it will do. Every single product that I have purchased from "Pathfinder" has met and or succeeded the performance and quality claims from Dave. So anyone who is considering any of his gear offerings will get outstanding gear, well worth the expense. ;-)
Well Dave, what do ya do when you're down to your last PKS Survival knife with curly maple handles, your last Pathfinder canteen set in coyote tan, AND your last PKS t-shirt in size large?! Ya just hang your hammock and call it a day brother!! It was a pleasure and an HONOR to meet you at Blade 2021. Thanks for everything Dave! Hope to see you again real soon in a class or event! Jerry
Kick ass! I've been waiting for these to drop for a few months now. (Or at least since you first announced them) I'm definitely excited! Thanks Dave! Keep up the good work and stay dirty!

I just ordered one of these and I'm glad I did. It hasn't gotten here yet but I'm excited.
Dear Felix thank you very much for the joy you give us! We are very proud of you and wish you new discoveries! Warmest wishes from Ukraine!

Just purchased this hammock with the tarp, pretty stoked to see how it works out!

Thank you so much for the simple yet detailed hammock hang introduction. This was great for a hammock newbie such as myself.
I got 2 for my kids and they love them
Where did you buy it?
How'd you do that....there not released till next week bud lmao
@@bmk506 I was wondering the same thing. Haha I looked on SRO and didn't find them. That dude must have the hook up.
Your beard gives your face a look of just a happier person .. nothing wrong with the previous Dave appearance ,, just gives you a more jolly appearance
Beardy Dave: the best bushcraft product developer on this planet.
Your living your best life. You deserve it. Hope your settled in the new house. What kind of watch you got there?
I have never seen that stand that’s on your truck, brilliant!
I like this. It’s like my Eno Jungle Nest but wider. I’ll be looking into getting one for sure.
Great review!
This is perfect timing to enjoy the warmer weather. I really like that it is a double size. Keep up the great work.
Looks like an excellent piece of kit. Might have to add this to one of my bags.
Love hammock bites underside is what I had issue with inner tube supported net should fix that. Screen the top and skeeters love you because you can't even swat them.
I like the idea, of thinking about the beginner, and cost of beginner bushcraft

I've often wonder ....in a lightening storm are those straps conductive?
Thanks Dave that is another cool piece on gear!
Dave, where can I get a camo coat like yours? What’s it called? Thanks!
I like the integrated bug net option, AND that it'll work with my McLean Metalworks rig. Thanks Dave.
was about to bring up an add on rain fly!!
Thx Dave
Nice!!
I definitely need the double size!
Hay thank you. I think I'll be getting one soon from Glenn CATT in Massachusetts. Good video.
That’s a nice system y’all got going. Catcha on the next one
Yep, going to need one of those. Thank you Dave.
I like the hitch frame
Ok, I gotta ask. Why are you wearing a jacket at the end of June? Nice looking hammock 👍
Has anyone have a difficult time getting out of the hammock?

it looks pretty nice actually, best thing of all is that you can easily water proof this with nearly any Tarp.
If you had to edit out you sitting down and flipping over out of the hammock, please post that in a separate video for me! I love it
Love what you do Dave !!! Keep it up .
Great review from an expert, 👍🏼🇱🇷

Nice kit. Should get beginner's well set up.
When will these be in stock Dave?
When is this going to be available to purchase online. I want to be the first customer. This thing is exactly what I need.
Now I really really want one!!!
Just wondering if the brown color of this matches the DD tarp, had to order it because the Pathfinder was sold out.
Do you have a seller in the UK?
I was just thinking about a new hammock. 😁
Just curious about the zipper- Is it YKK?
Awesome 😎, can't wait 😊 to be apart of Dave Canterbury's swingers club! Cheers 🍻 for the product review.
It’s on my list . Was just checking the website to see if it had released yet when the notification popped up
Can’t wait!

VERY NICE" YOU COULD BE CHILLIN LIKE A VILLAIN.
That sounds like a good price for a starter Hammock
Kickass!
I'm getting one!
Cool
Cool hammock, great presentation.
That's a starter hammock? I don't see you needing anything else.
Hammock time! I would pay for the name alone, Mr. Pathfinder.
I'm gonna need to check your hat for foreign substances sir.
Yep, I'm gonna need three of those.
Hopefully the straps don’t have reflective thread in it.
Looks good, sturdy, and versatile. It’s now on my wish list. I already have the pathfinder tarp.!
Kick ass! I've been waiting for these to drop for a few months now. (Or at least since you first announced them) I'm definitely excited! Thanks Dave! Keep up the good work and stay dirty!
