Alex great choice , i remember Jim Croce i was even a little bit young when he was on the top of the charts i was born in 63 it reminds me of wonderful times ,miss you Andy
I'm the same age. My mom really loved Jim Croce so it was playing around the house most of my childhood. Such a nostalgia hit when I hear him now, but he really was a great artist.
Alex, you’re doing a great job holding down the fort while Andy is taking a break. Andy, if you’re reading comments just know that I care about you and hope your days are getting easier. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone that celebrates tomorrow!
So many to pick from. Here's a few... New York's Not My Home, Photographs and Memories, Lover's Cross, Box #10, and Walking Back to Georgia. All excellent. Can't go wrong with any of these.
He and five others died in a plane crash September 20, 1973, shortly after take-off. He had just finished playing at NSU in Natchitoches, LA, headed to Texas. This song was released after his death. So talented. Still hurts.
As a huge fist leaves a mark on a person's face so Jim Croce's music left his mark on the early 70's music scene. Just Jim and Maury with acoustic guitars spreading the music of life in America.
I loved his songs so so much, and it is so tragic that he died so young. Were missed in rock music. I got a name was my favorite song BTW. But this song was also amazing, I have to say I love you in a song......
Hi, I hope you can listen to "Photographs & Memories", a short but sweet song from Jim Croce. My absolute favorite of his many beautiful songs. Cheers.
My father was a huge Croce fan. At his funeral, I had them play “Photographs and Memories.” Even though it’s a song about a lost love, the sentiment of the words still hit home. Photographs and memories Christmas cards you sent to me All that I have are these To remember you. 😢
One of the great American folk artists and songwriters! Can't wait to see you and Andy together again doing the reactions. I've liked both of your perspectives over the years. Nice reaction!
Alex, I totally agree with your comments especially about how meaningful it is to have some write about their love for someone in a song. I have an uncle who writes my aunt poems (which are so beautiful they could be made into songs) expressing his love to her and what she means to him and she simply loves them and the meaning behind them. I also agree with your rating. This was a fantastic song. It really touched my heart. I hope you have an awesome rest of your day and please tell Andy hi for me!😊
Jim recorded some duets with his wife Ingrid that have some great harmonies. Some are on the 50 track compilation that was released the year he would have turned 50. "Vespers" and "Child of Midnight" are two of my favorites.
Great review of an all-time favorite artist. I don't know if you've heard any of the between-song stories he told at live shows but he was also a wonderful storyteller.
You should definitely tackle "New York's not my home" and "Box #10", two songs definitely capturing Jim's experience as a struggling musician. They're both masterfully written and performed as well. I'm not exaggerating when I say these songs are exactly what you're looking for, from one music lover to another.
Another excellent review Alex! While I miss you tag teaming w/ Andy, you're kicking ass! I'm looking forward to Andy re-joining you refreshed & re-invigorated in the future. All the best, M-
You've now hit all of Croce's biggest songs, but he still has more worth hearing. He does have a very good Christmas-themed song - "It Doesn't Have to Be That Way" - so my advice is to return to him sometime in the next month and hit that one. If you don't want to return to him that soon, then I would hit "One Less Set of Footsteps" next, and react to "It Doesn't Have to Be That Way" sometime in the 2025 Christmas season.
I've been hoping you'd hit the best breakup song ever, One Less Set of Footsteps. That song is just as perfect as his love songs, it's just a different emotion flowing.
Perfect reaction, I love this song. Like most of his songs it seems so personal, but also relatable. My favorite Croce song was not a big hit, but it was meaningful to me. Please give "Salon and Saloon" a listen if you get a chance.
I know you like harmonica, there is an amazing video of probably the best harmonica player in the world. His name is Will Wilde. He has a video of playing the entire Freebird guitar solo on harmonica. A comment says “as a professional harmonica player, this is equivalent to playing Beethoven’s Fifth on a kazoo.
Incredible song. S for me. let’s be honest though Alex, it doesn’t take much to get you bobbing your head. I’ve seen you and Andy bobbing your head when there’s no beat.
Jim is always a good listen! "Roller Derby Queen" is fun and "Lover's Cross" is poignant and deep! Glad to hear Andy will be back in January! Thanks for your great commentary and love to see you really "get into" the music, Alex!
Happy Thanksgiving, Alex. So glad you’ve experienced JC again. For having his career cut short, there are still plenty more to hear… my next pick: New York’s Not My Home. 💗 Lots of love to Andy, but keep some for yourself!
For more uptempo Croce, you should hit “Working at the Car Wash Blues” or “Roller Derby Queen”. The live version of Roller Derby Queen is better because he has a little story that goes with it and you can see Maury Muehleisen his guitar player, who was fantastic and died in the plane crash with Jim.
How about something from his talented son, A. J. Croce? He has songs going back to 1993, but I don't recognized any hits. Also, Julian Lennon, maybe with "Valotte" from 1983. Every time I hear Jim Croce or John Lennon, my mind instantly goes to pondering what songs they never got a chance to make.
Andy back in January?!? Yeah!!! Jim Croce right before Thanksgiving?? Heck Yeah!! Upbeat Jim is fun, but this is the Jim that moves your soul! He doesn't sound like the average guy, but voices the universal one. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!
Thanks Alex, been a hot minute for Jim. This was huge back in the day on AM radio. I can close my eyes and can hear the DJ say... Up next, The Capt. And Tenile with Muscrat Love.
Melodically my fav song by Jim Croce. Nice reaction. Storytelling wise you should listen to John Prine as well (fav of Bob Dylen, Roger Waters and many others). Sam Stone th-cam.com/video/OLVWEYUqGew/w-d-xo.html .
I remember everyone in our High School crying when we heard of his crash. It's hard to find a favorite of his. You should do "Lovers Cross" next. Love you guys!😊
He was such a great lyricist that people tend to overlook his guitar playing. He was one of my favorites growing up. I agree with the sentiment that Working At The Car Wash Blues should be next. Great song!
We saw Jim's son A.J. in concert a few weeks back, and it was really great. He did all his father's biggest hits and some of his own stuff, which were all good, as well. If you get a chance to see him on tour, I highly recommend it. The band members are all top-notch too.
Alex, great to see and hear you again. can you imagine to amount of material this guy would've produced ,if he lived a full life ??? as it was he put out enough to produce a Greatest Hits album.crazy, man.
I’m a 71 year old child and have been singing this song to my wife for 47 years. Of course is change the word “song” to “dong”. In fact just sang it to her that way. lol.
Jim Croce was NEVER going to be just Jim and his guitar. At the very beginning of his music journey, it was Jim and his wife, Ingrid. When she dropped out to raise a family, Jim and fellow guitarist Maury Muehleisen made an agreement to back each other, and who ever made it big first, the other would be his sideman, as they backed each other's early albums. Those ethereal lead lines? Maury Muehleisen . Sadly, Maury was also a passenger on that fatal plane crash.
You're doing a great job, Alex. Keep up the good work. That said I'm glad to hear Andy's coming back in January, because you guys are the Lennon and McCartney of reaction video teams.
Jim Croce did so much in just a couple of years. Almost every song was heartfelt, simple, but deep. Always a storyteller
I cried the day we were told he passed away. Such a talent. The heavenly choir has gotta be amazing ❤❤
Alex great choice , i remember Jim Croce i was even a little bit young when he was on the top of the charts i was born in 63 it reminds me of wonderful times ,miss you Andy

Jim told all of us how much he loved us with his songs. That makes this one so much more special. Art definitely imitating life. R.I.P. Jim.
These kind of songs always make me feel like they were written in some realm outside of time and the writer finds them. In this case, Croce.
Jim Croce literally has zero bad songs in his catalog. I’d suggest trying “Box #10”
Great metaphor.
I loved his songs so so much, and it is so tragic that he died so young. Were missed in rock music. I got a name was my favorite song BTW. But this song was also amazing, I have to say I love you in a song......

😢
Criminally underrated vocalist, songwriter and guitarist
Amaj7 chord at the end. so 70's.. beautiful.
I didn't get your comment at first, but when I heard that chord, I knew you were exactly right. That IS the sound of great 70s music!!
One of the great American folk artists and songwriters! Can't wait to see you and Andy together again doing the reactions. I've liked both of your perspectives over the years. Nice reaction!

He really was himself. Thanks Alex for this and keeping the channel going.
I use this to rock my one year old daughter to sleep. First lullaby we gave her after she was born.
One of the really beautiful songs. Just too short. Thanks for hitting this one. He does bring you into his music, great observation.
A lesser known but excellent song is Lovers Cross. Beautiful song and amazing guitar work.
Yes!!! Such a good call out. I remember it like yesterday, haven’t heard it in 25 years.
My favorite by him. Just tremendous
❤😮❤Who didn't fall in love with Jim Croce's voice from the minute he opened his mouth! Like a warm hug!
Pure gold! 💕🎶💕
Jim recorded some duets with his wife Ingrid that have some great harmonies.
Some are on the 50 track compilation that was released the year he would have turned 50.
"Vespers" and "Child of Midnight" are two of my favorites.

I was born in '63 so I grew up with Jim Croce thanks to my Dad. Great choice, Alex. Miss you, Andy💔
P.S. Don't you dare cut the hair, Andy!
Andy back in January? Awesome!
Roller Derby Queen, Workin' At The Car Wash Blues and Box #10 are worthy...😎
Another excellent review Alex! While I miss you tag teaming w/ Andy, you're kicking ass! I'm looking forward to Andy re-joining you refreshed & re-invigorated in the future.
All the best,

Great song
My favorite Croce song. S song to me.
just great singer songwriter music.
Huge catalog , at only 30 years old!
Alex, you nailed this one! Happy Thanksgiving 🦃🍁 🩵
His son is currently on tour and plays his father’s songs. AJ Croce. He’s now 53.
yes he was at our local club just a few months ago and single got airplay promo quite a bit
John Fogerty wrote the flip-side with CCR, "Wrote a Song for Everyone" (when I couldn't even talk to you).
Box #10
I liken it to baking a cake. Croce has a recipe that is basic yet complex layers at the same time.👍🍻
I've been hoping you'd hit the best breakup song ever, One Less Set of Footsteps. That song is just as perfect as his love songs, it's just a different emotion flowing.
New York's Not My Home next.
That's a masterpiece. Too many people overlook this song, it's one of his best written.
Perfect reaction, I love this song. Like most of his songs it seems so personal, but also relatable. My favorite Croce song was not a big hit, but it was meaningful to me. Please give "Salon and Saloon" a listen if you get a chance.
Awesome tune, great reaction ! Check out “Working at the car wash blues “ great tune by Jim
I know you like harmonica, there is an amazing video of probably the best harmonica player in the world. His name is Will Wilde. Sometimes, they just bob to the pure 'feels' and sauce.
good choice and eval interpretation
Don't forget his guitarist and background singer Maury Muehleisen 💔
Jim is always a good listen! "Roller Derby Queen" is fun and "Lover's Cross" is poignant and deep! Glad to hear Andy will be back in January! Thanks for your great commentary and love to see you really "get into" the music, Alex!
Another beautiful Croce tune. Alex, you must credit his musical partner/guitarist Maury Muehleisen on future reactions.
If there was one music act I could bring back from beyond, it would be Jim and Maury. They were a superb team and would only have got better.
Missing you Andy! ☮️💟♾️
He just makes you want to pick up your guitar and play along.
Happy Thanksgiving, Alex. So glad you’ve experienced JC again. For having his career cut short, there are still plenty more to hear… my next pick: New York’s Not My Home. 💗
Lots of love to Andy, but keep some for yourself!
You should give Rapid Roy a listen to. It will put a smile on your face
If you're going to hit a Croce album, do Life And Times. It's sort of a "best of".
Workin at the carwash blues middle road between his soft stuff and the other blue collar stuff.
New York's Not My Home is lovely
Photographs and Memories or New York Is Not My Home by Jim would be nice.
Hey Andy, ask Alex to hit Montrose for you. Rock Candy is a great place to start. 😊
I also have asked for "Rock Candy" Sammy Hagar before Van Halen!
same i recently heard a good cover from a current band warren haynes maybe or tedeschki trucks
Hey Tomorrow next!!
i dont think you need to do the countdown without andy
Unfortunately It’s in the contract
where's andy ?
Great way to dive into my day with a healthy dose of true heart realism.
Check out his Walkin Back To Georgia
I always thought this was his best , and most underrated song.
Andy, I wish you a great holiday season. We love you and miss you.
excellent tune by Jim Croce. Good to hear a predicted return of Andy in January.
I first heard this on a transistor radio late at night while in bed on an AM station from across the country. Just a massive songwriter.
Jim was so great!!
💛
I remember everyone in our High School crying when we heard of his crash. It's hard to find a favorite of his. You should do "Lovers Cross" next. Love you guys!😊
Croce's guitar work along with Maury Meuhleisen (1972-1973) compliment each other so well.
He was such a great lyricist that people tend to overlook his guitar playing. He was one of my favorites growing up. I agree with the sentiment that Working At The Car Wash Blues should be next. Great song!
Beautiful
He was a master at simplicity yet profound at the same time.
Irving Berlin knocks me out without doing anything fancy or complicated.
"What'll I do with just a photograph to tell my troubles to?"
F!rst!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
Alex, let’s do an interview. Email me from my channel description
This is one of my earliest memories of a love song ❤❤❤❤
GOOOOOOOD MORNING A&A FAMILY! ☮️💟♾️
H'lo. Alright?
"Workin' at the Carwash Blues" has always been a favorite of mine. Very fun. Def worth a listen.
Jim Croce, definitely left his mark !
One of the great story tellers of music, along with Harry Chapin. Both taken from us way too soon.
Happy thanksgiving all 3 A's. Love n hugs to all especially Andy. xxx
Jim's songs make me feel drawn in and invested in them
Hard to believe he only lived 30 years. He gave us so much in such a short time.
Jim’s son is also a musician and sings some of his dad songs. Next Jim Croce song, something fun- Working at the car wash Blues. 👍🏼👍🏼
I love this music era so much. You cant miss no matter what you pick.
We saw Jim's son A.J. in concert a few weeks back, and it was really great. He did all his father's biggest hits and some of his own stuff, which were all good, as well. If you get a chance to see him on tour, I highly recommend it. The band members are all top-notch too.
I have everything by Jim Croce and he was a talented kid who honed his craft and made himself into a master.
Oh this song, too beautiful.
So glad Andy is returning! I hope he is feeling better
Alex, great to see and hear you again. can you imagine to amount of material this guy would've produced ,if he lived a full life ??? as it was he put out enough to produce a Greatest Hits album.crazy, man.
I just picture Jim playing this for his wife after their argument and her tearing up as he sings it to her
I’m a 71 year old child and have been singing this song to my wife for 47 years. Of course is change the word “song” to “dong”. In fact just sang it to her that way. lol.
Yay!! My favorite Jim Croce song. So glad you got to it.
I don't know why, but I grew to dislike Croce by the time I reached my teens.
What an absolute classic. He went way too young
Thanks Alex… you nailed it again. Hi Andy. ❤
You're doing a great job, Alex. Keep up the good work. That said I'm glad to hear Andy's coming back in January, because you guys are the Lennon and McCartney of reaction video teams.
