The bad news is that menopause is more likely to kill your sex life than PD. There are work arounds to enjoying sex with PD but if menopause deals you a bad hand your sex life ends. You won’t miss it because your sex drive will be absent. Hormone therapy may help if you can tolerate it. (Three out of four of my partners stopped wanting sex post menopause.)
Thank you so much for your comment! This is why these discussions should be part of the story. I believe ultimately it will be PD, but that the combination of both will make a vital sex life immensely challenging. Women have been misled about menopause and the benefits of HRT. There are many options to alleviate the symptoms of menopause but only 10% of women are given access to these options. I know women who have had very active sex lives during and post menopause, but women who have both PD and are going through menopause I don't. I am so committed to having a sex life and can't imagine anything killing my sex drive but then I haven't had cancer, a stroke, or the long list of other health complications that can squash it....so it's one more part of my PD that I will document and share. Keeping my fingers cross, staying hopeful, and exploring all options 🥰
Thank you Joe, I try! One of my best friends was widowed ten years ago....it took a while and a few different ladies but he's finally found someone really special and they are in Mexico together as I type this ♥
And just in case....I have to say it is my hope to get published. After the editor, then I hope to find an agent, and even then there's no guarantee you will find a publisher even with an agent. It's not going to be easy...going this route first and then if there's no hope will look into self-publishing or an indie press.
I know and I wish this wasn't how it was! One thing I have been thinking a lot about is how my hormone cycle messes up the effectiveness of my medications and how clear this is...I am not alone either, almost every woman I know with PD talks about it. But men have hormone cycles of their own, which are daily vs monthly, and I find it impossible that men aren't being impacted in a similar yet in their own way. Does that make sense? Thank you for your comment and sharing! ♥

This is tricky subject that you manage to simplify and make less intimidating. Thx, Jennifer!👍
Thank you soooo much Jeremy!! 🥰
Good luck Jenn! You tackle the tough questions. I am early onset and widowed so this is a real challenge.

Hi Jennifer, it is good that you are creating an outlet for PWP's to talk about sex.
Thank you David!! 🥰
Good luck with the book

Guys have the same problem. We are just afraid to say anything about it. 😢
