You CAN accept credit card payments with PayPal. You can enable PayPal Guest in your PayPal settings, then buyers will be able to choose whether to use a credit/debit card or use a PayPal wallet
UPDATE! You can use Braintree in order to use PayPal as a credit/debit card gateway on your checkout page as if you were using Stripe. It's way better than PayPal Guest
Hey , good video but shopify payment doesnt work for me i dont why but because i already had a store that flopped in the past it says my name has already been registered so that why it not working ut could you help set it up because it so complicated.
Hi so actually when we build a e-commerce website there are no additional charges for card transactions on it? Or it’s like included in the monthly plans ..
Well, if a buyer wants to buy on your store and you have paypal payment, he should be registered on paypal. With another payment gateway a buyer can buy without registration?
Is it true that if you choose a payment gateway other than Shopify payments, Shopify will add on their own 2% fee on top of the new payment gateway charges?
PayPal sucks. They do say it works globally but they don’t mention your money is stuck in the cloud unless you have a US bank account or in the EU. While living in Guatemala, 2checkout and payoneer were the solution in my case. I did go through the trouble of opening a US bank account which I later closed. It wasn’t worth it but i learned my lesson.
Hi m frm India, m facing problems with opening up a paypal a/c. My sister stays in Australia can i ask her to open up a paypal premier a/c n link it to my shopify store? Any suggestions???
So if I get a sale today and when the buyer receives his item can i transfer the money from shopify to my bank account or will PayPal be required so my funds can go there. Im really getting annoyed of PayPal thats why i want my funds transferred to my bank account
Hey there Moe, you're in luck... Shopify actually transfers your money straight to your bank account after a couple days of the transaction from your customer. For Paypal, the same thing happens, but you do have to log in and then select for the money to be transferred to your bank account (which you can do for free).
Hey I live in Albania and my country has Paypal and 2checkout as best payment gateways here, and I want to know wich is the best choice, adding both of payments at my store or only one of them like paypal ???
I have shopify payement and i want to transfer 10000$ from my shopify account to my bank account in morocco how much do I think It will take and if it's a problem if i do transfer that amount of money
First off, i love your videos because you make it so easy to understand. Keep up the good work...my question is, my sales were slowly moving but now they are picking up, is there a way i can use an app or online account like for credit because i don't always have the money in my account?
Only with PayPal, all the other options have a few processing days to transfer to your bank account. Therefore, you want to have some extra funds to pay for your products.
Brennan Valeski i heard paypal hold them for 21 days is that true ? Cuz I don’t have a budget to pay for the order from my own money so if there’s a way to avoid that
You use the ones available for your country in Europe. It’s based on where you live, not your customers. & you receive direct deposit from Shopify to your bank account as well as PayPal payments if you setup for people to pay you through that.
Online Money 24/7 - Actually, another question. My country's currency is euros. Now if I sell my products in dollars, can shopify convert that to dollars and deposit that on my bank? (My bank works with iDeal, in the Netherlands)
What if you already have an ecommerce website and you want to use shopify payments or pos systems for your site and on the go, do you need solely a shopify ecommerce website or can you use your own say wordpress.?
To use their payment processing and pos, you would need a Shopify ecommerce store. You can also use your own Wordpress site with woo commerce and square pos.
In my country we have Ron not dollars (for example). Will Shopify convert the dollars intro Rons? because I will use the card that mom gave to me (it is on her name) and I can't really convert without her(from the bank)
So after checking for a gateway, as I'm selling in the US but I'm IL based do I need to add a currency convertor plugin to exchange between USD and ILS? If so, what's the fees and prices of these apps? I imagine the exchange fee to be quite high, at least as much as PayPal wouldn't it?
Currency converter plug-ins are readily available on the Shopify app store. I would recommend offering that functionality to your visitors. Additionally, some themes actually come with them pre-installed. The checkouts are converted to the store's local currency so I'm not sure about the cost of exchange rates.
I'M From india and I start Uk and USA E-commerce Selling Please suggest the best Website or App for Upload or Listening of my products.. Ex. Shopify or other..
I may have misspoke in the video but to utilize Stripe with Shopify it’s essentially Shopify Payments (its powered by Stripe). It’s the best option for someone in the USA with how easy it is to use and it’s native integration.
Try using another card. I've heard some people buy a prepaid card to pay for Shopify and it works fine. For accepting payments you need to use a bank account/paypal.
Brennan Valeski Exactly how do I get a prepaid card..? I live in a third world country and I understand that the stripe payments does not work. I'm trying to pick a plan but its not also going through.. Please help!
They ask for your tax id, which you can use your SSID for. I have not personally used 2checkout so I’m not sure their rules on business registration. I’ve used Shopify payments, Stripe, and PayPal in which none of them ask to have business registration. I’ve never registered a company, but it depends on the provider you use.

I have to find a way to create merchant account to provide payment gateways for my store but since I'm from (Iran) I'm having difficulty finding merchant provider that supports Iran!!. I have contacted 58 different providers but yet I haven't succeeded finding anyone that could help! can anyone help me with that? I'd really be grateful.
OH MANNN!!! i cant advertise on facebook??? this is what they told me after i told them i want to sell vaporizers only, no cbd, nicotine or any other substances : The decision does not relate to the legality of the product, it is a restriction that is in place with our Shopify Payments banking partners, which is why we do not have flexibility in this matter. As outlined in section B.5. of the Shopify Payments Terms of Service, this includes products such as bongs, vaporizers, hookahs, e-cigarettes and accessories. You can certainly continue to use Shopify to power your business, and use an alternative payment gateway to process your payments.
hey man, I currently live in Italy, but I want to sell via shopify mostly in US, if I open a personal Payoneer account it's like a US bank for me in wich I can receive payments, so can I use shipify payments in this case ?
Credit card fee you pay for the processing company like visa and mastercard, and transaction fee is for the payment gateway. That’s why Shopify’s is free since they make money from your monthly subscription already.
Thank you so much you are awesome! I have one question iam in iran and iran isn’t in the shopify country list so i create shopify with my uncle address and he create account in germany.. so i can use the account but in that moment i have to create credit card with him address or with my address?
Bank for him, since that is the payment processor. You may want to look into other payment processors that work for Shopify that accept people in Iran. That way you have control over everything easily.
Thanks for the video! I had one question though, I live in Canada so, I can use stripe, let's say I want to make my stores currency into USD does this mean I need to have a USD bank account? Thank you

You didn't actually give useful information in regards to all the gateways you listed in the title of your video. you really only explained about stripe and it's integration into shopify. It so happens that I was looking for information on 2checkout. When I saw the title about understanding the payment gateways and 2checkout, I immediately clicked and it just so happens that this video is an actual waste of time and didn't really give anything on 2checkout which is disappointing
Hey Chrissie, I'm sorry you feel this way. This video was more designed to explain the different options people have versus showing how to set all of them up. I do have another video on the channel going over more specifics on 2checkout specifically.
PayPal can have issues, but you just need to make sure to set up a business PayPal account. Then they understand you're going to have a lot of transactions going through.

and i just read your comment back saying '' they will understand you will have loads of transactions through'' maybe your experience are different but theirs alot of people that have tons of sales go through and even when the paypal account is already signed up as a business account Paypal will still hold your funds and say as an excuse ' because so many transactions are going through we need to make sure this is not suspicious activity'' even though they can clearly see all the transactions are coming from your business ..like i said earlier they are shady and not reliable to use for long term for business
You repeat yourself a LOT. For instance, at around 4:51 you say three or four different ways that there are a lot of payment options to choose from because some don't work in certain countries. Say it once and move on, don't waste your or your viewers' time.
I hate videos which start out with, "Hey, guys...what's up?" Come on, try to be a little more adult/professional, please! I'm not one to concede conversational language to "millennial-speak". And, get off my lawn. :)

Yes, you need a bank account to run a business. I had a bank account at like 12. You can open one under your parents.

Only through PayPal can you get that, not on Shopify payments.

I have shopify payement and i want to transfer 10000$ from my shopify account to my bank account in morocco how much do I think It will take and if it's a problem if i do transfer that amount of money

Paypal is not a payment gateway but they have their own in-house gateway payflow.
Paypal doesn't work worldwide :( it doesnt work in my country-Paraguay
Aww man, I’m surprised, it works in so many. Well, you’ll have to get creative and find one that does 🤓
So why is credit card fee and transaction fees being charged ?
They’re charged because they process the card through their gateway for you.
Thank you so much but In Nigeria PayPal doesn’t allow that so we can’t receive payments we can only pay for stuff
Ah, gotcha. Well good thing is most people pay through cards so you don’t have to worry.
What's the different between transaction fee and credit card rate?
Credit card fee you pay for the processing company like visa and mastercard, and transaction fee is for the payment gateway. That’s why Shopify’s is free since they make money from your monthly subscription already.
I see, but how can a different Shopify plan reduce the amount you have to pay to the Card Company?
They give you a deal based on volume they assume you’re going to bring in with more sales.

The bank account to accept payments would need to be in his country. The credit card you use to pay for the Shopify monthly cost is with your address.
