I am old enough at 57 to remember the Hand of Faith being discovered in the 1980’s. Dad in the 1980’s used to take use metal detecting all over central Victoria.
Plenty of large finds were never reported especially if found by the Chinese. Records were shady from 1850s to 1930s but a lot of larger finds happened. I know of at least 2 that were 100 ounce finds in south Ballarat.
@@goldfieldsguide yes it is mind blowing. Legend goes that the Chinese used to sit on their large finds and when they needed money they would chop off some gold with a axe from a large nugget.
Always interesting content, thankyou.

I possibly walked right over it a month or two before it was found. A stinking hot day too hot to be out so spent the afternoon at the local.

Just incredible. The actual amount of large nuggets unearthed throughout the region would be mind blowing 🤯⚒
