Thanks for watching. honestly I'm not sure if this was Jamerson, since it was attributed to the Funk Brothers and according to the date, Jamerson was part of in that time, i decided to emulate it with foam, hook and all the techniques. Hope you enjoy. Let me know if you have any question!
Absolutely correct! On those two triplets during the verses, especially!!! The Collins' cover misses that entirely, among other subtleties (actually not subtle at all!!!)
Great cover man. Its definitely a Jamerson line. If you happen by a book called "Standing in the Shadows of Motown", pick it up! Has a long list of Jameson transcriptions (including this tune), also makes for some great 16th note sight reading exercises.
There are a few little subtleties that I'm pretty sure separate his lines from what Babbitt would have done. Not that that would have been a bad thing, Babbitt is a true bass demigod all on his own.
I went with a purple kitchen sponge for extra soul 😂 Just 2x check to make sure it won’t react with your finish. Oh, and use a new, clean sponge to avoid scratching your bass or getting nasty food bits on it haha
Oh and the flatwound strings are a must, also. Those are 80% of the sound, the sponge is 10%, and your fingers and touch are the final 10% of the sound
Jamerson wouldn't play a complex or melodic bassline if it didn't suit the song. The use of open strings in this tune + the bass tone makes me think it's Jamerson. "My Girl" by The Temptations also got a simple bassline which we know was played by Jamerson because there is a short video snippet of him recording it. That's why he was a master, he knew exactly what worked for each song.

You weren't playing with only 1 finger lol and yes it was James Jamerson
yes, i was
@@CoverSolutionsoh sorry I couldn't tell. Great bass line though
It is sad that we can't see bpm's on Play Along tabs
@@CoverSolutions for which I give you great credit
James Jamerson, the only bass player that I know who can go back to the root before the rest of the band, and somehow make it sound good
I am constantly chuckling at delight at his (early) transitions. It's so simple, and so subtle, but so EFFECTIVE. Few other were doing it like this.

I was just thinking about that.
"You can't hurry love" ... but you can the chord change apparently.
@Stiglr Paul McCartney bass in the chorus of "We Can Work it Out." has that Jamerson Vibe.
Thanks so much for highlighting the subtle tuning adjustments; I've ruined many a play-along never knowing that I needed to detune my bass

could you please do falling and laughing by orange juice

Such a weird bassline when the simpler Phil Collins version is embedded in my brain.
It looks so simple on paper, but I can't keep up. It's so fricking fast.
Can you do so much i bah rhcp please for the next time
Not quite as easy as it looks.. thanks!
Can you possibly do Calvin Harris Tom grennan I'll be there
Really great cover! Is it a Jamerson bassline?
Probably - The Funk Brothers are credited with all instruments and Jamerson was their most prominent (though not the only) bassist.

años viendo tus videos recien me di cuenta que tienes una esponja en el puente xDD

Check the video description, he lays it all out there!

Weird question, is there a specific type of foam I'm supposed to buy? Does it matter if I want to emulate this, what did you use?
kitchen sponge!

could you play goat by polyphia???
Hell of a life by Kanye West
Love it!!! Just one thing, it looks tho that the tab is lagging behind where you’re actually playing. Not sure if this is intentional or not!
That's just TH-cam. Happens a lot.
I think it is TH-cam lagging I have seen it on another site do this.
sacate el bajo de G.O.A.T poliphya xd
You Only Live Once Suicidé Silence 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
Fay.
It looks too straight for a jamerson bass line, i would expect some more movement but i guess you never know
