Man I wanna sincerly express my condolences for the whole alpha period. When people kept asking and asking why no new patches on the old engine came while you had stated the development of the new one and that making patches for the soon to be dropped version would be a waste of the manhours. I myself was angry no one even thought there could be a reason for this and look if someone said what the reason was but rather instantly feel scammed without any checks, rage about it and insult you guys over it. I always loved the game you made and it was part of what made me want to be a gamedeveloper too ^^
Fr, showing the "base" gun was a dumb decision because the point of it is that you're supposed to find different attatchments and fit them as you need. Lightweight or full stock, normal foregrip or rail foregrip, etc etc. It looks weird without all the attatchments...because its not supposed to be used without them, loll
More likely whoever captured the video saw that in third person the player character is holding onto a non-existant grip and thought it would be funny, especially since Jonathan is a huge fan of the MP5. Later a fully decked out MP5 is used to show the stoppage, so both sides are covered at least somewhat. (Same reason the AKM was shown without any furniture, so Jonathan can compare to an actually stripped gun)
Jonathan seemed particularly up for it today, not saying he ever gives the impression of not being up for it but he was a lot more playful this episode. It was a very good one due to that. Also, Mike, it's a Deagle.
Since Jonathan is the keeper of firearms AND artillery, how about showing him the various powder weapons of the total war: warhammer trio of games? Its got renaissance handguns all the way to the wackiest forms of fantasy artillery.
Soo happy to see DayZ on this channel. Played thousands of hours myself and will always vouch for DayZ being one of the best video games ever made. Whether cooking by a campfire, or watching the colours and lighting change as the sun goes down - fighting desperately against a dozen zombies, or tracking a gunshot that came from over a kilometer away. There is just so much to love about DayZ.
@RustieFawn I fail to understand what relevance DayZ being "early access" has against its quality? I mean if you know anything about the developers you would know they've had to stop working on it several times due to forces outside their control, yet they've always come back to it and are still releasing updates based on user feedback every couple of months. Yes it's technically "early access" still - but I'm pretty certain the devs could choose to define it as "full release" any day they wanted and it would change... Nothing?
@@AtlasJay That it is an unfinished bug filled mess. That became like that because of an influx of cash and lies that it would be updated, supported and finished. In a huge part thanks to early access.
@RustieFawn Okay bud. Your opinion then. I've got over 2000 hours on the game and very rarely do I encounter any bugs or glitches that significantly blemish the game play. Servers with tons of mods tend to be much more unstable, but that's the nature of playing with mods. Vanilla servers or servers with very limited mods are very stable in my experience.
The Ruger 22 has a hidden ability. If you shoot it with a silencer it is really quiet, and Zombies will travel to the point of impact if you miss them.
I own the Baikal MP-43 that the BK-43 double barreled shotgun is modelled after! Mine is is the single trigger model tho, but it has proper ejectors that look exactly like the parts in the game. Really cool to see it put in a game.

Had an old Italian double barrel when I was a kid that was real sketch at times. I usually only loaded 1 round at a time because whenever it wanted it would let off both rounds.
Regarding the .357 DEagle, presumably it's found as is in the game, given it's a survival situation and all. Regardless, I'd imagine if you did find one you'd probably want it to be in the .357 Mag, as finding ammunition for it, while still not necessarily easy, will be a lot simpler than finding .50 AE. And your wrists will likely be less prone to wanting to fall off after you empty a mag or 2...
it is also a .357 because there are other guns in 357 in the game and that makes it a "upgrade" and easier to find ammo for, the lever action, the revolver and the derringer use .357 so its not thaat hard to find ammo for this deagle. I think the only gun that specifically has ammo that is only useable for it is the mosin using 7.62x54mmr
Makes no sense. Do you honestly think any serious DE owner is going to think, "hey, in case there's ever going to be a zombie apocalypse, I better order mine in the smaller caliber so that any future survivors who will be looting it off my carcass can carry the more economic rounds"?
You're absolutely correct about the M4/16 charging handle. You only take your shooting hand off of the pistol grip when you have to engage the bolt stop. It's been a while, but if you have a stovepipe or other failure to eject it's something like: Hold weapon at low ready, safe weapon, depress magazine release, if magazine does not drop, left hand strips magazine from weapon (pull it hard so it comes out), left hand grips lower receiver at mag well, right hand comes off pistol grip, right hand pulls charging handle to rear, left thumb engages bolt stop, right hand returns charging handle to locked position (put it back), right hand returns to pistol grip, rotate right hand left towards body 45 to 90 degrees, Inspect chamber and magazine well for obstructions, clear obstruction if necessary, left hand locks new magazine into well, left hand depresses bolt stop paddle, bolt stop disengages, buffer spring returns bolt carrier group forward into battery, move selector switch into desired position...something like that.
5:42 All weapons equipped with the hunting scope can't be zero'd below 200m. So if you're going for headshots you have to aim a teensy bit low for most rifles, but because of how the .22lr arcs in game, the 200m zero is crippling.
at about 17:32 I have a note. I have a old L.C. Smith side by side, presumably a No. 00. It is possible to fire both barrels at the same time, but is unpleasant to do so. The safety seems to have 4 positions, neither, left, right, and both. however it is somewhat loose, and may simply be that it doesn't strictly function as intended after years of use. (after all the youngest that gun could be is 107 years old) Also in spite of lacking ejectors, with thicker walled cartridges (they don't swell as much), on low round counts ( where it hasn't heated up yet) and opening the gun swiftly, it is possible to push the shells free while opening. However the conditions have to be just right to be able to do it. But it can be done.
You can 100% shoot some side by sides at the exact same time. Worked with a gunsmith for years, we shot some sideby sides that did this in his test range.
Yup, my dad had an old baikal with twin triggers. We were shooting clays and I thought it would be funny to fire both at the same time. It wasn’t funny
@Tam_Mullen93 I have 2 double trigger Baikals, an IJ26 side by side, and an IZh-12 over under. Very fun shotguns. Both barrels at once can rock you pretty hard if you're shooting heavier loads.
I just tried exactly what that guy did with the M4 on my AR and it works. So that animation was actually correct. The bolt will stay open if you pull the bolt release catch down as you pull the bolt back. You do not need to keep pulling the release for the bolt to remain open.
the zombie survival guide is one of my favorite elementary school memories and getting to go to the royal armories museum in london is one of my favorite recent ones so it’s cool to see the two coincide
Ahhh what a great game and great to see you go xover some of the guns. Would love to see a part 2 with the mkII, sks, m16, scorpion, makarov etc.... Evem the m79.
I got a pal whose wife works for a tactical company and they started doing custom orders. And she was making pink tactical vests, and rainbow custom order ones for them. Like she use to be a seamstress for renfair then had to get a better job, and some how found herself in expermental department to do custom order tactical gear, and she gets some intresting orders she has to sort out how to make with kvler and nylon fibers vests
Interesting to hear about stoppages and how they should be dealt with. Perfect subject for a look at Receiver 1 or 2 and to show off the more intricate handling and usage of each gun in detail. Fewer guns overall but would like to see Jonathan deep dive into each one on from an accuracy and realism aspect.
I'd love to see Jonathan react to the guns from "into the radius vr". They have a lot of fun details and gun cleaning mechanics which I'm sure he'd appreciate
My brother used to own a shell ejecting double barrel shotgun with three triggers. The third trigger was I believe set just to the right and rear of the two other triggers, firing both shots simultaneously. It's been a very long time so I may be misremembering the trigger setup a bit, but it certainly had the ability for simultaneous barrel firing.
Again, I would like to see the guns in Vermintide 2, given that they are roughly renaissance era black powder firearms and jonathan is a museum curator, so these would be right up his alley.
love to see this, hope at some point in the future you can get Jonathan to look at the guns in Stalker GAMMA, or the new game when it comes out (finger's crossed) in december
with the AR. if the bolt is pulled to the rear and the bolt catch is putting pressure on it, you dont need to hold the catch lever, it stays there from the forward pressure of the buffer tube spring. you then release the bolt by pressing it on the top ,releasing the bolt.
I would love to see Jonathan cover the entire Red Faction Series. The weapons in that game are all designed around modern weapons but also feature some intersting alternate fire methods and destructive possibilities, including the rail gun with an xray scope and the ability to fire through walls.
With the M4 clip you have to keep in mind that in the Dayz universe, civilians are the main characters handling these weapons and may not understand certain things about how to properly handle/clear firearms.
Like civilians calling a magazine a "clip" when the M4 certainly doesn't use a clip.... the Mosin, SKS, or even Magnum Revolver would, but the devs are absolutely lazy AF and have refused to return any of the actual clips into the game.
@@johnnygeorgopoulos4072 not sure if you’re referring to me using clip, but it wasn’t in the way you might think, I was meaning in regards to the clip in the video showing the m4. (Source: 4 1/2 year Army Vet)
Series idea- we put Jonathan in a survival show and see how long he would last. The enjoyment is seeing him adapt to the weathered weapons and him rolling his eyes at the quality of weapons he finds
I am not surprised but still rather pleased to hear The Zombie Survival Guide get a mention. I love that book, and World War Z. Both are in a prime location on my bookshelf, next to Foundation and Dune.
I would really love to see Jonathan break down the pistols in Revolver 2. That game is so unique with the handling of sidearms, and provides vocal clips of gun safety and gun information.
I once again asking that Jonathan check out the weapons of Deus Ex Human Revolution and Mankind Divided :D cmon guys, he played the games, would be interesting to hear about those weapons and those games got some wacky ones too
8:00 It's a common thing for the lemas user to saw off the carry handle for sight picture(ingame). Ive heard this makes the gun break faster in game, but the change is worth it.
I remember seeing A -man with a- golden gun at the White Tower, do not remember what kind because I did not care about them at that time...but it existed, and I remember that. Definetly the coolest part of that exhibit though is the dragon made out of armour (apparently named Keeper).

The mp5 foregrip is pretty much always found attached to the gun in dayz. I’m not sure I’ve ever found one that doesn’t have a stock and foregrip by default.
i had no idea that dayz had an mp5k. I also 100% agree with what you said about the desert eagle. I have a couple friends talking about getting a .357 desert eagle and i give them a hard time about not wanting to get a "real one" of course 357 mag is no weak round but DE in 50 is just satisfying.
the IZH-43 (BK-43) is a baikal brand shotgun originating from the ussr in October 1985, the IZH-43 can shoot one or both barrels at once and features a shell ejector.
theres this game called "stick warfare:blood strike" that has recently gotten reload animations (yeah the game took a while but its a 2d stickman game so most people didint care about the lack of them) and i wanna see jonathan's reaction to a stickman reloading a 120mm tank gun while holding said tank gun with one hand.
Here in Finland the one really serious rule in hunting groups is "you never shoot a boar" if you're not hunting boars. You be very nice and quiet and let them go, because they won't stop for nothing and your thighs are very quickly not in working order when a fang slices you up between your legs. And they're really really fast on top of being strong and armed with the sharp fangs. They don't have a kind nature. I'd love to see a game figure out how to create all the visual illusions that happen with human eye. For example that rear sight thing where it's a tiny needle hole and your front sight might look something small and really impossible to plant on a target, but once you look through the needle hole, your vision is filled with the front sight and the tiny target. But at the same time you can also keep both eyes open and have peripheral vision. Or just the common illusion that the moon is huge on the sky, but once you grab a photo you can barely see the tiny dot.
In the MP5k jam clip when the character slaps the gun you can briefly see something eject out, so presumably it had case that failed to eject. It seems weird that that would work though, if it wasn't partly out of the port it would get blocked, and if it was it would make more sense to hit it or grab it directly from the other side.
It’s always interesting to see a really neat armory like this in a country that doesn’t allow most of the firearms covered. I guess it’s a museum as well but interesting nonetheless
The main reason why the 22 calibre rifle was recommended in the Zombie Survival Guide is because of the fact that it doesn't produce as much noise as a large calibre gun. More noise - more zombies.
I've seen plenty of gold plated guns from Mexico, South America, and the Middle East. With laser cutting/engraving and cnc engraving machines becoming so common, a lot of companies and individual shops are "engraving" very aggressive designs in the metal and plastic of all sorts of guns. It's no longer in the realm of custom shops and old world Mexican craftsmen.

the zombie survival guide is one of my favorite elementary school memories and getting to go to the royal armories museum in london is one of my favorite recent ones so it’s cool to see the two coincide
I really want to see Jonathan take a look at the gun and experimental variants in Generation Zero!
I have been waiting for this ever since I've come across this series!! Ty
I'd love a breakdown video of STALKER: Anomaly with the Boomsticks and Sharpsticks pack. So many different AKs and other guns that it's almost silly.
love to see this, hope at some point in the future you can get Jonathan to look at the guns in Stalker GAMMA, or the new game when it comes out (finger's crossed) in december
Pushing as always for you guys to have Johnathan cover Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and to cover the M8 and MRI Caseless specifically as well.
with the AR. if the bolt is pulled to the rear and the bolt catch is putting pressure on it, you dont need to hold the catch lever, it stays there from the forward pressure of the buffer tube spring. you then release the bolt by pressing it on the top ,releasing the bolt.
So happy to see this. DayZ is my all time fav.
5:00 So glad someone brings it up! My copy is pretty busted. A .22 and a crowbar, the best weapon combo for the zombie apocalypse.
I would love to see Jonathan cover the entire Red Faction Series. The weapons in that game are all designed around modern weapons but also feature some intersting alternate fire methods and destructive possibilities, including the rail gun with an xray scope and the ability to fire through walls.
I thought the .22 was missing due to the bullet travel time. I saw the rounds hitting the backround late
A mixture of that, and the gun being zeroed for the wrong range.
200m is the minimum for the scope
i would love to see jonathan react to more of the guns in dayz there are plenty more than shown here
With the M4 clip you have to keep in mind that in the Dayz universe, civilians are the main characters handling these weapons and may not understand certain things about how to properly handle/clear firearms.

People love to shout about how right they are, _especially_ when that's the last thing they are.
@@thejay8963 Unfortunately, life is full of those who love to speak and confirm what many believe of them.
The .50 AE one has been modded in. I think the devs didn't want too many different ammo types floating around.
Jonathan Ferguson you are the man! Thank you for everything - You Are Awesome!
Series idea- we put Jonathan in a survival show and see how long he would last. The enjoyment is seeing him adapt to the weathered weapons and him rolling his eyes at the quality of weapons he finds
Forgot about these videos. Glad this made its way back into my algorithm
Now I wanna see Jonathan dual-wielding Deagles
I am not surprised but still rather pleased to hear The Zombie Survival Guide get a mention. I love that book, and World War Z. Both are in a prime location on my bookshelf, next to Foundation and Dune.
I would really love to see Jonathan break down the pistols in Revolver 2. That game is so unique with the handling of sidearms, and provides vocal clips of gun safety and gun information.
Iv not handled a famas irl but sawing off that handle is definitely a upgrade to the sight picture in the game
DayZ prides itself on realism, but there are so many things in the game that make absolutely zero sense.
The Thompson Arms Contender is such a cool gun. Hard Boiled made it even more badass
Warframe. He would have an aneurysm
I remember seeing A -man with a- golden gun at the White Tower, do not remember what kind because I did not care about them at that time...but it existed, and I remember that. Definetly the coolest part of that exhibit though is the dragon made out of armour (apparently named Keeper).
I wanna see jonathan break down the guns of phantom forces i think it would be intresting
I’ve been waiting for you to do Day Z for a long time. Thank you!
F**K YEAH Jonathan!!! 7 mutated thumbs up for your comments on sexism/misogyny in both the firearms and video game industry. It makes me VERY HAPPY that men like yourself represent important and often crusty institutions not afraid to speak up. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 …I should probably say I’m a fully grown (older than you) ex-service MAN who has maintained a love of firearms history while not buying into the culture. Oh, and as a Basque Australian - ZED! Yes!!!
Heh, it's possible Jonathan is assuming a bit too much, the vast vast majority of pink guns I've seen have been used by men anyway. =)
This games long been a staple of my gaming library.
Would love to see more!
theres this game called "stick warfare:blood strike" that has recently gotten reload animations (yeah the game took a while but its a 2d stickman game so most people didint care about the lack of them) and i wanna see jonathan's reaction to a stickman reloading a 120mm tank gun while holding said tank gun with one hand.
Thank you for this. I have been waiting for this
The player character may just be meant to be a random person who is surviving in the apocalypse and may have no prior training with guns
In the MP5k jam clip when the character slaps the gun you can briefly see something eject out, so presumably it had case that failed to eject. It seems weird that that would work though, if it wasn't partly out of the port it would get blocked, and if it was it would make more sense to hit it or grab it directly from the other side.
Been waiting for this one for ages thanks Jonathan
It’s always interesting to see a really neat armory like this in a country that doesn’t allow most of the firearms covered. I guess it’s a museum as well but interesting nonetheless
It's always interesting listening to Jonathan.
A video about the VR half-like: Verdigo;
Verdigo's guns are mostly plasma and lasers execpt for the five that are like void and stuff.
Yes, Max Brooks actually recommends .22 rounds against zombies in his fantastic guide. Spot on with that!
The Killzone series has some great original designs I think would be cool to see his thoughts on
He never factored in the harsh environment the guns are subjected to, they are used beyond the means of their original uses but otherwise amazing video and I’ve been waiting for this video for years
My dad's a gun nut so when I saw the Derringer I knew what his birthday present next year will be. A pink Derringer with a Hello Kitty sticker/decal on it.
You can get the MP5 handle in game normally in containers.
We need a part 2 to this Please.
Max brooks mentioned!!! Zombie survival guide is an awesome book
Would LOVE to see Jonathan react to the weapons of the F.E.A.R series!
There are two versions of the Famas in DayZ one with the handle and scope and the sawn off model
Thankyou, this is the one I have been waiting for, and yes its annoying that they dont name the wpns correctly (seeing as thye do manage it in ARMA...) but at least on PC there are mods to get this correct, would have been nice for you to have included the LAR (FN FAL) in the list.
I have a coach gun that has two triggers and exposed hammers.
Front trigger fires right barrel, rear trigger fires both.
That was the one video I was wishing for 🙏 thanks
