A very interesting episode: lots of truths- I can relate to all of them. I think it's such a good idea to send the unworn jumpers to new homes. Well done you for making this decision. You have a big heart. It's great to hear your views and and about your experiences once the knits were finished.
Another fun and entertaining video Megha. I think. It’s great for us to take the time to look at out past makes and see what worked and what didn’t and the why for both as well. It only helps us improve our future makes. Thank you for all of the time you put into making videos.
Such a great episode! The mechanics of a make, and what you’d do differently (or what you love) is something I crave to hear. Even your least-worn are stunning makes. I gasped when you said the Plus sweater. I remember those sleeves! I just wanted to say hi and that I enjoy what you share. XO
Love your honesty in evaluating your sweaters! And just love the idea that it;s okay to be fearless and try new combinations and new colours and see what happens! I find sometimes the fear of something not being "perfect" can really get in the way of just getting something cast on... Great video Megha!
I love your self drafted tee-shirt. The colours are beautiful. I need to knit one in those colours this summer. We all have to learn what works and what doesn't for us when we make our own clothes, whether knitting, crocheting, or sewing. It's a steep learning curve. You definitely don't need to feel bad for learning what works and what doesn't. Often what we see in our imagination doesn't turn out to be what the outfit actually is.
I knit a lot and like you, some things are not quite right for us. I’m so lucky because I have a good friend and a sister who do not knit and are the same size. They are always so happy to get a free sweater! It gives me so much pleasure to see someone loving it !
I about choked when you said you would rehome that Ranunculus, I have always wanted one but it will be years before my skills are good enough. I think we all appreciate your honesty, and the learning experiences you share.
This was such a great video, Megha! I always forget that I need to pay attention to yarn choices to get more wear out of my knits. I love the orangey-red sweater on you and I’m glad you’re going to keep it😊
Great video ❤ I think our clothing should work for us, not the other way around! I have several articles of knit clothing that just don’t feel quite right too. It seems pretty common among knitters 😊
That bright orange is stunning on you- I too love bright colours but seem to lack the confidence to wear them. Glad you are keeping it- even if you only bring it out on special occasions! Love your honesty and sense of humour- always pleased to see one of your videos pop up.
Hi. I think all your knits are beautiful. You are very talented. It is too bad that some of them dont fit you and are not comfortable and too warm. I am knitting a blanket now and the color is Garnet. I bought the yarn in Dollar Tree. I am about a third through. I made it with 230 stiches across, and I have now about 60 rows. It is the color of my birth stone which is Garnet. My birthday was about a week ago. i enjoy knitting every day. Take Care. 😊
Oh my your cardigan thoughts about sizing are 😮!! I need to think about this for sure when I start my next cardi. Ive made a few that don't fit well, and I think the idea that they need to be a larger size than my pullovers is so smart. As always you're delightful. ❤have a great week!!
Don't give that Cumulus Blouse away. While I can totally relate to a bright color being outside of your comfort zone, it honestly looks fabulous on you (as does the Rebecca Clow sweater you are wearing in this video). Not being a ruffles person myself, agree with that decision of yours but that Plusses sweater...that worth some tears. Your color combination on that Plusses is gorgeous. Glad that you will be gifting that to someone you know! Thanks for your humor and honesty!
Megha! As always I thoroughly enjoyed hanging out with you and THOROUGHLY enjoyed this video (lmao😂 Agrabah vibes) I really appreciated hearing your insights on these garments. I have so many disappointing FOs sitting in my wardrobe and would love to have a knitworthy new home for the ones I can’t frog. See you again soon!
I really enjoyed your least worn sweater round up. I haven’t made too many sweaters, but I have many of the same problems- I heat up too much, my skin is too sensitive and trying to organize what to wear under (which might require the dread of ironing a blouse) and delay in fixing errors or just finishing, gets in the way. I have a cardigan that just needs the sleeves shortened. It’s op down, so not a big deal, but I procrastinate. I have several sweaters close to comp, etiology. And have run out of steam. So many sweaters call for mohair, which makes a lovely fabric, but is very costly and I find even soft ones itchy and too warm. The yarns that are best on my skin are either super expensive or plant based and not so enjoyable to knit with. Also, as I am newer to garment knitting, finding my best fit and style co tinges to be an expensive, time consuming practice. Maybe I will just go back to my old knitting ways of making baby hoodies (over 1500 to date) and accessories- more guaranteed success.
@@jenniferbarrett3272 omgg!! 1500 baby hoodies sounds amazing 🤣 what pattern do you use?? Aah I can see the dilemma ! I hope you find yarns and fiber that work for you, but ultimately, as long as the knitting brings you joy, it doesn’t matter what we make , right?
Great video! Sometimes we knit garments just because everyone is knitting them. This year I would like to put more thought into knitting items that I am missing in my wardrobe, a button vest is one of those things that I would like to knit this year. Looking forward to seeing more episodes 😊
This was very helpful. Due to having an over abundance of heavy worsted &/or DK+mohair sweaters in my wardrobe, I am now in the process of making my first sweater under a DK weight. ( the Ilha sweater by Orlane Sucche). I work from my home office and, like you, I feel I need more lighter weight 'indoor' sweaters. I think I previously gravitated toward projects that I might be able to finish more quickly at a larger gauge, but now that I have more experience and more than enough of those, I am very OK with investing the time to make garments in a sport or fingering weight that I will probably wear much more often.
I just found you😊, not sure why I have never seen your podcast before but I'm so happy it popped up on my feed today! Enjoyed this and it really helped me to refine my choices for the effort I am putting into my knits. Now I have to go back and watch more of your videos! ❤
What a lot of work you have put into your sweaters! I hope you find homes for them if you're really not going to wear them. I think the one I'm sorriest you don't feel comfortable in is the blue with the red ruffle - you look absolutely dynamite in that one:) Thanks for sharing all your work. It looks like you've learned a lot about your preferences for sizing/yarn choices which you can bring into 2025!
This was a helpful video thanks! Yes I also have some jumpers which I don't wear for various reasons. I think I also need to make cardigans a size up to what I choose for jumpers as I get gaping around the front where the buttons join.
Keep the orange cumulus! It looks great on you and not too bright. It’s so versatile and not really a Christmas or valentines colourway in my humble opinion. 🧡
Thanks for another great episode, Megha!! I was going to suggest something for your short sleeve wool tops: I've been wearing mine in the Fall or Spring with a denim jacket. I wore mine way more than I thought I would when I started doing that
Definitely keep the Cumulus….your eyes were twinkeling when you had it on. You like it. And it looks amazingly good on you. I have the same issue with cardigans. If I make it bigger, it is just too big in the back. That does not work for me. And yes I have sweaters that I do not wear, to warm, the fit is not right and some need a little bit of change. I am going to fix it in this year…..or reclaim the yarn. So by the end of this year that pile is gone( I hope)🧐
Thanks for your insight. It took a while for me to adapt my knits from MN to VA. I find Holst Coast (cotton/wool) to be a good solution. Also, the baby sweater is so sweet! I knit something similar for my tiny baby who turned 22 yo yesterday ❤
Megha! So many things I want to say. 1) I totally agree about DK colorwork - I only need 1 or 2 thick sweaters for reeeally cold days. In general, my lifestyle does not require such thick sweaters. Also, I want to try more cotton/merino blends. I like Saona, but they have few colors, so I want to try the KFO and Rosa Pomar cotton/merino yarns; 2) UGH! It kills me that you are giving away sweaters; 3) We have the same body type. I have tried different tricks, depending on the pattern and constuction type. I always make the right size for my shoulders, then make modifications for my bust. Sometimes this means making a smaller size for the back than for the front. If it's all-over lace or colorwork, I usually try to sneak in extra stitches on the front towards the end of the raglan - the last 20% or so (making increases every row instead of every other row). I also usually do the underarm increases for the larger size, which will also help you with the sleeve circumference when picking up stitches. Based on my swatch or yoke gauge, I do my own calculation and determine what my personal stitch count should be at the bust. Yes, all of this means that it is sometimes impossible for me to do a test knit, unless the designer is willing to allow for fit modifications and you make note of these in your Ravelry page. It also means that I need more yarn than suggested. But, it makes life so much easier when you finally realize that you do not have boobs on your back!🤣 Then, you can try some tricks to play with the stitch count, getting those stitches to the front of the sweater, not the back; 4) Stop reading and go fix that wonderful dark red cardigan!😜💪 Love your honesty and humor.❤
You highlighted the issues I have with cardigans, especially ones with buttons. They're simultaneously too big in areas while being small in others that they're never comfortable to wear.
Right?? I find the style that works best is the one with a v shape that sits high on top of the neck in the back - like the calix and the field day cardigan
I loved this video. We should all revisit our knits like this! The cardigan you couldn’t remember the name of was the Corran. I made mine too small as well 😢 Maybe you should pass yours on to me and I should pass mine off to someone else😂😂😂 (JK) I’m about a 41 or 42 inch bust and mine has negative ease. And it’s too short. Ugh. You should reclaim the yarn on your Alladin vest (that comment cracked me up). It’s beautiful yarn. I am actually reknitting sleeves on a colorwork sweater that came out too tight. I haven’t worn it once. I ripped those sleeves back and reknit them on a bigger needle with less decreases. Also, cheering you on to put the zipper in that cardigan! I LOVE a cardigan with a zip. I’ve done it at least 5 or 6 times and it’s not difficult.
Hi Megha, I really can't judge because you are wearing these sweaters that you make and YOU ALONE KNOW HOW THEY FIT WHEN YOU WEAR THEM. If you always have to be conscious about them when you wear them, that's not cool. It means something is uncomfortable about them. It's nice to engage your viewers about your knitting work and wear but sometimes there's that place where in the end YOU KNOW BEST. WHO FEELS IT KNOWS IT. So do you and I support you doing you. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND FAMILY. Hope your Mother is doing well. Take care now and HAPPY KNITTING!
However lovely the pattern and the yarn, if you don’t like the fit, it does not get worn. I can certainly relate to that😄. Thank you for reminding me about the garments I have hidden in the back of my closet😄.
I think we can all find faults in the garments we make but I do not see any fault in yours, ever! I’ve been wanting to make the Corran Cardigan and think yours is lovely. I’d be happy to take it off your hands should you wish. 😃
For the Darta, if you have any of the yarn left could you change the ruffles to be the same yarn? Might be less impactful/subtle for work. The purple is such a lovely colour on you and it’s a shame you don’t wear it.
Megha your red cumulus is stunning. What about a navy or black camisole underneath so the v neck is more comfortable. You do look great in it. I think it is less bright than you think.
Your knitting technique is amazing! So sad to have such lovely items that you don’t wear! Do you think large swatches that you carry around and handle a lot would help you?
I enjoyed this video so much!!! As a fairly new knitter, with a similar body type to yours, I also found it very informative. I hadn’t thought that I should be making a cardigan with greater ease than a pullover. But then, I’m only working on my second garment ever. So, thank you for your efforts and your sweet sense of humor. (Penelope Tucker, Oregon)
Hello! As an avid knitter myself, I can totally relate to all your FO conundrums but all your knits are fabulous nonetheless! have you used Santolina by Purl Soho? May i suggest you try it as it may be the perfect fibre content for where you live. I have knit my summer sweaters from this yarn which I absolutely love!
If you are serious about giving away that gorgeous ranunculus I would really love to wear it. It would be perfect for me for just the reason that it is not for you, the sleeves! I get Dialysis treatment three times a week for Kidney failure and the fistula where I receive the cleaned blood back is in my left forearm. So, to have that area exposed would be perfect for me. And those are my colors, I love it. I would be honored to wear something that is made by you, one of my favorite knitters!
Thank you for your video. I think when we don't wear our knitted items, they need to be either gifted or frogged. Having them around just brings in negative energy in my opinion. I think the learning we get about ourselves and what works and doesn't is worth the time and money we put into these items. We always learn more from our 'failures'.
I agree with you that the ruffle sweater is not quite right...perhaps it's the high contrast between the body and the ruffles. How about dying the entire sweater jet black? Even if the dying process results in the ruffles being "less black" than the body, you will reduce the high contrast and (hopefully) end up with an elegant sweater that is appropriate for the office. Just an idea. 🙂
Thank you for your honesty regarding your knits you don’t wear-I have a couple myself so I definitely relate! If you wish to regime any my way I’m about the same size as you-a bit different as how my measurements are distributed. 🫤

As far as the ruffle sweater….what if you do a low contrast ruffle?
That’s definitely a good idea! I need to take the red ruffle off for starters and see what I think
About the Darta- did you consider blue ruffles? Either the same blue or something very similar?
@@sparkle5240 someone else suggested that! I need to take the red ones off and actually do this perhaps
Can’t you take the button band off no put in a zipper.
Yes! That’s definitely the plan! I need to bring it out of my closet and just get it done
Thank you for your honesty regarding your knits you don’t wear-I have a couple myself so I definitely relate! If you wish to regime any my way I’m about the same size as you-a bit different as how my measurements are distributed. 🫤
However lovely the pattern and the yarn, if you don’t like the fit, it does not get worn. I can certainly relate to that😄. Thank you for reminding me about the garments I have hidden in the back of my closet😄.
