    Glad you showed the tube of tomato paste. Never seen it packaged that way in the USA but certain adhesives and lubricants often use that material over here.

      Yes any thin metal tube will work, I just have plenty of access to the purée tube as shown 😂

    I recently did a couple banners for my Dark Angels and Beastmen. I made them from soda can aluminum. The Beastman banner bearer got a pole made from a thin wood pole, the cross piece held together by a spare shield bit. The Dark Angels got a banner pole made from a length of paperclip, inserted into a plastic cotton bud handle (hollow, with holes drilled in the middle).
    Painted both on the model. For the Beastman, it wasn't a big deal. But the Dark Angel's raised sword made it difficult to find an angle to paint from on one side. The next banners I made, I'll try painting them before I glue them to the poles.
    When I did the freehand, I did a bunch of practice runs on a primed index card until I had the design I was happy with. It helped me get better at freehand, before I committed to the actual piece.

      Yeah man more great techniques. Yes painting the banner before you glue it on is much easier. Yes practicing you free hand is a very good idea. Free hand is all about confidence and if you have practice before hand you will be more confident with your abilities to carry off your design

    Don't mind me, I've just come to look at those lovely banners.
    Handy tip with the cocktail stick, do you do anything to the edges of the metal? Would have thought it would be a bit sharp.
    You really make painting look effortless.

    • @JonnyWatsonGaming
      @JonnyWatsonGaming  ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha cheers mate. Yeah the cocktail stick is my secret weapon 😂
      No I don’t do anything to the edges apart from painting them, as they are not sharp especially using the tomato purée metal, it’s very soft.

    • @jamesdegray7907
      @jamesdegray7907 ปีที่แล้ว

      I found just giving the edges a quick rub with an emery board helps with any sharpness and helps the paint stick a bit better to the edges

    Ooh, lovely classic foil banner tutorial :)
    Very clear and easy to follow instructions, great video bud.
    But dude, that music during the Ork painting;
    damn near gave me a heart attack when it kicked in it was so loud compared to the rest of the video :D
    But I really enjoyed the video, carry on being awesome and take care ;)

    Awesome man just the video I was looking for! I’m working on an epic 40k display army of all old knights and titans and want to fly a boat load of banners! Where did you get the little metal rod for the poles?!
    Edit: absolutely beautiful paint jobs man freakin love the old school vibrant colours kudos!!

      Ahh man thank you for the kind works and really glad you found the video helpful. Comments like this make creating these videos worthwhile. Regarding the poles I think I put a link in the description section. Your project sounds quality, if your up for it follow the link to my Discord (it’s completely free) in the description section and upload photos of your progress I would love to see how you get on with the project. 👍

    Sharpen them pliers or buy new ones. Not replacing sharps when they need it is bad juju.
    And water slide decal paper is very cheap.
