- I've had this idea for a while to shoot a series of videos about ordinary people and the things that bring them joy. It's my small way of creating something positive in a world full of negativity and bad news.
This is my entry in that series; The Comic Collector. Ryan a very good friend of mine and he was gracious enough to let me film him and massive comic book collection. He has spent many years building his collection, completing runs, and tracking down rare, hard to find comics. This is the story of his collecting journey. Enjoy.

Hey, that's me in the video! My friend Paul did an amazing job with shooting and editing this. As far as the content, he just asked me to tell him about my collection and I started my rambling.
Best part of his collection is he collects for the JOY. Condition doesn't matter as he reads his books for the love of it. True Collector.

In the early 70’s, a friend of mine was in grade school collecting comics mostly from yard sales. His school would have a fundraiser event and would have a huge table with comics just tossed on it. 2 comics for 10cents. My friend went and found Amazing Fantasy 15. He was in such shock, he almost forgot to pick his second comic for his dime!

I have been collecting Marvel comics since 1972. My first wife forced me to sell them in 1995 or so. But I started collecting them again mostly through eBay in 2002 or so. Now I have most of them back. Last year I even started buying and reading the new issues! As much as I loved the Silver Age artists I must admit most of the new artists are amazing.

I am in the process of collecting the original run of the Mighty Thor from Journey into Mystery 83 (1962) to Thor 502 (1996) and it is addicting

I may be able to help you with this depending on how far you've gotten in your collection recently! I've just gotten to a point that I'm able to look through the comics passed down to me and have several of the Mighty Thor

I had my own "yard sale moment," which here we'd call a "car boot sale," where I bought the first appearance of Black Widow for £5 (about $7-8). I was over the moon.
Kind a cool vid. It seems geared towards little kids or people who don't know anything about comics.
