@@abluerx7371 wasnt even badly designed. Hood was a battleCRUISER, not a battleship, so her armour was thinner as a consequence. Even then, what happened to her was a result of extreme bad luck, a literal one in a million shot. It's worth noting that the Prince of Wales, far smaller, was still able to fight Bismark and Prince Eugen for a while alone afterwards before having to withdraw. Hoods destruction would never have happened without that lucky shot.

Hood was a good ship just the bad design that really did it in
@@abluerx7371 wasnt even badly designed. Hood was a battleCRUISER, not a battleship, so her armour was thinner as a consequence. Even then, what happened to her was a result of extreme bad luck, a literal one in a million shot.
It's worth noting that the Prince of Wales, far smaller, was still able to fight Bismark and Prince Eugen for a while alone afterwards before having to withdraw. Hoods destruction would never have happened without that lucky shot.
@@AtheAetheling Hood was also an old ship in desperate need of a refit. After Mers-el-Kebir, she couldn't chase Strasbourg due to engine failures. However, her guns were still a match for Bismarck's. It was still a lucky shot that sunk her.
