being from Mississippi and now living in Cali i took some of my friends to the parade today so they could experience what a real band looks and sounds like.
I attended Jackson State University in the mid 70's, and I'm from Poplarville Mississippi and my hometown Girls " Chapel Hart " are the ones singing on the float behind them in this clip. I'm still smiling from ear to ear.
Spartan Legion alum here. What you see here is nothing new. The Boom just took their show to California and displayed their excellence for all the world to see what we in the HBCU band world have already known. They were phenomenal and the crowd loved it. The J5 showed up and showed OWT and the J-Settes were incredible. Great job by the Boom. I know this must have been an awesome experience for these student/musicians.
From a former SU band member that marched in this parade in 1980, I want say congratulations to JSU! Enjoy, you deserve to be there and you will cherish this moment forever, I have!! 👏🏾👏🏾
I go to watch the parade every year on Sierra Madre Blvd, where it goes under 210 Freeway, which is almost at the end of the parade. The bands sound fantastic under the freeway, the sounds reverberate. These kids have marched and performed for more than 5 miles at this point. This band, by far, was the best and the loudest. They were fabulous. We really appreciate them making the trip to Pasadena. It was a treat to see and hear them. WOW. Thank you.
Said the same thing! It was cool the Boom pulled you in… then you became parade route exclusive! Thanks for sharing your experience. Safe travels home.
JSU turned out the whole parade. Been a JSU Sonic Boom fan since the late 80s. My brother video recorded the half time shows on BET. When I saw them, I gravitated to daBoom! Welcome to LA!
As a Mississippian's and now Southern Cal resident, I'm super proud of how you guys represented here in Pasadena. To the fans: always support them UNCONDITIONAL ...NO matter where they decide to go participate. Proud MISSISSIPPIAN.
This brings back so many great memories. I was in one of the best marching bands in the state of California in the 60's and 70's, John Muir Marching Band of John Muir High School in Pasadena California. Parades are one of the hardest things bands can do. However, it is also one of the most gratifying and proudful moments a marching band can have. CONGRATULATIONS JACKSON STATE UNIVERSITY!!!
They sound good…. But that drive and swinging of the horns is not there like it usually is. I’ve noticed the same with SU back 2020… they must tell HBCU don’t go too hard lol
It was a lot of people out there they could have played some up-tempo to get the crowd going really that's why they was out there they know how explosive there's a band is the selection of music was not on point Point even though people want to move on the holidays
Where they had the biggest fans in the biggest crowd on the street March through there people came out there to hear them play they should have stopped and performed right there

You took the words right out of my mouth😊 I'm from Mississippi too and that's how you do it they are fabulous ❤😊

Great video and coverage, Ken! Also, good exercise! How long did it take you to find your way back to the car??🤣😂
A really great looking band, sharp, very sharp, love them.
It’s Tate Reeves, saying “Go Tigers” for me! Wowwwwww

Again I loved it! Great view of the Parade Too. I'm from DC and didn't get a chance to go. It looks like a Good Time!! Great Job to everyone!!
🔥🔥🔥
I didn't expect to see “TaterTot” in the Rose Parade. 😂 Who invited him? 😮
Doesn't miss a chance to show fake love lol
@@SonicBoomC98 Amen!
He should have stayed home haven’t done anything for Jackson or the HBCU Colleges want people to think he’s care about JSU
Give us our damn on campus stadium and I might let him make it. But until then...😤
🔥🔥🔥🔥
This was the view I needed ❤
Cool!!
Sonic Boom !!!!!!
Sonic Boom puts all the others bands to shame!
PUMP IT!!!
Yaaaaas
Baddest band in the land! So proud of them! HBCU culture is top notch!
Nice nod to the Mac band. Roses are Red. One of my favorite songs on my old school Playlist.🔥🔥🔥
I feel bad for the banner girls, having to carry that banner for 5.5 miles and fake smile the whole time lol. That’s insane!
They still get the chance to participate in EVERYTHING and FOR FREE... hell I'm jealous 😅
Banner Girls Got Heart, a blue one💙
What you see is what you get the real deal
They knew what job was b4 they applied for it. 😆
This is awesome! You managed to catch Kyoto Tachibana too 🙌

Ken I think you got tired and needed a little rest lol . Thanks for the footage bruh💙🤍

It’s a marching style. What you see SU do is SU style.
@ you missed the entire point of what tf I said 😒….. can’t tell you sensitive youngins nothing… always making excuses
Now u tell me what was the best part of the parade
Southern bands give you a show not stilted military marching. Everyone is on point...
Jackson State with the Rick Roll
I thought you was following band all the way through

Why is Tate reeves there
He's a phony like the orange one in regard to JSU and MVSU band respectively. Regardless, I am proud of the Boom, JSettes, Dr. Little and staff.

Tate Reeves sent me bruh🤣
The two bands that have been showing up a lot on my feed, JSU 🩵🤍 & Kyoto Tachibana High School 🧡💛

UNFORTUNATELY, MVSU's fan aren't like yall. Well, I would hope yall wouldn't do what they are doing.
We wouldnt accept the invitation in the first place
REALLY? Unless you are the university president, you don't know what they would do. Don't think of yourself higher than you ought (Romans 12:3)
Where they had the biggest fans in the biggest crowd on the street March through there people came out there to hear them play they should have stopped and performed right there
Their time was limited.
.....song had no beat to it . THIS IS A MARCH !!!!!!!!!!
