All the people crying in these comments need to learn the basics of comedy. You don't get to decide that a certain topic for comedy is wrong just because it affects you personally.
This is a jerky comment to attach to a funny video. I work in the oilfeild, I don't see many people with a crap load of money. those that make it seem like they do, are unattached single guys who are bad with money and the bank usually owns all their stuff. There are lots of those types that come up here. But they are not the majority. I'm not saying there is no truth to your statement. but you blanket it as if it were all Albertans, when infact it's not like that for the whole of the Albertan oilfeild. working 13+ hours a day for 2-3 weeks at a time and you should be able to afford a bit extra. But it's earned and in turn for giving up other luxuries. I appologize to the people here for a laugh for being overly serious.
Yes as 22 Minutes get's it funding from tax dollars, dollars sent east from Oil and Gas revenues. So these idiots sit there and joke as families lose incomes and they still get paid. Disgusting liberal minded bullshit. Typical CBC hypocrisy look for every opportunity to bash the Oil Patch and yet hands open take all they can from it. I don't watch CBC at all, it's a joke.
Surprising. I would have thought that thousands of Canadians (regardless of stereotype) losing their jobs to be an opportunity for public ridicule by a Canadian Crown Broadcasting Network might be considered very poor taste. I have to wonder if there will be another episode as all the service companies, oilfield supply companies, heavy hauling, freight forwarding, training services, construction, engineering, maintenance, retail stores, travel agencies, airlines, automotive shops, retailers, restaurants etc begin to hear the crickets in their workplaces. Will it be equally as funny as endless administrative personnel begin to lose their way of life and homes as well? Real estate going upside down for those who were unlucky enough to purchase at the wrong time. And yes, this affects you too government personnel, as there will be much less demand for many services and much less allowances from the federal government to pay for them. Especially in the have-not provinces that rely on social services as a way of life yet love to ask how the west burned through all its earnings. It may be funny to some watching a fire-sale of jacked-up oversized trucks with ridiculous tires, lights and obnoxious exhausts. But has it occurred to you what else those people are known for? Spending large amounts of money and paying lots of taxes. Working long hours and earning a living honestly; which frankly concerns me as to what alternative means of survival may some resort if things continue to slide. Laugh it up while you can - which industry are you in? Incidentally CBC . . hows the Jian Ghomeshi teddy bear skits coming? Poor taste.
I got some of the references, but his rendition here of the Newfie accent is just annoying... this coming from a Newfie, and yes I know Sean Majumner or whatever his name is, is a Newfie himself.
+NormanMatchem Not a clue how you pegged that as Majumder doing a Newfie accent. If he wanted to do a Newfie accent, he'd just talk how he normally talks.
He wasn't doing Newfie, he was doing rig hand. And having worked for an Oilfield Services company, I can honestly say I knew a few guys like this. He really wasn't very much over the top.
Not sure why other people's miss fortune is so funny to some of you. This video is a satire and should not be taken to seriously, but there are many families all over the world who rely on the oil and gas industry to put food on the table and a roof over there heads and to them what's happening to them is not funny. Much like what happened in the auto industry in 09 wasn't funny to hundreds of Ontario families, please show some class and compation for your fellow man
Although I don't watch the show, he nailed it lol, Reminds me so much of that generation I grew up with in Ft Mac 20 yrs ago.

Also, way to make light of hundreds of people being layed off every day, its a lot worse than "sellin your second truck" .
It's spelled "laid", now we know why your ass is working in a fuckin field.

Nope, I’m not Newfie and I think the stereotypes of the west by the anal eastermers is disgusting.

He should be saying " yes, by". Not "bud" No newfie I know says "bud". This video is not accurate at all. Except for the trucks.
Mr. Lahey....
He was being from Alberta. Bud
He wasn't doing Newfie, he was doing rig hand. And having worked for an Oilfield Services company, I can honestly say I knew a few guys like this. He really wasn't very much over the top.
its sad that Canadians pay for this shit...

Wow. Wish I could scrub that from memory. Was that supposed to be funny or just annoying? Now I see why so many of your videos have no views. Fail.
pleasssssssss someone close the the CBC down , once and for all. and 22 minutes stopped being funny about 21 minutes ago
Lame. The CBC -- why does it continue to exist?
Remember when 22 minutes was funny? Ya, me either
