Helene Fischer is originally a Russian from Siberia. At least she was born there as a Russian citizen. Given her last name, you would suspect a German origin. Perhaps her parents lived in Siberia for work at the time and that Helene was born there during this period. In the Netherlands we know her mainly from the big hit 'Atemlos durch die Nacht'. She also sang a duet with Emma Kok. It is on TH-cam
To be fair, I'm not sure if she ever was a Russian citizen to begin with. Around 1800 Alexander 1. of Russia invited Germans to settle in Russia like his grandmother Catherine the Great. Germans following Catherine's call settled predominantly at the Volga river, later the second wave of Germans at the Black Sea. Helene's ancestors were among that. It was Helene's grandparents that got deported from their home to Siberia in 1941. Her parents, her older sister and Helene herself were born in Krasnojarsk, in SIberia. However for all that time Helene's grandparents wanted to return to their home. Since this wansn't possible because their home was either destroyed by Soviets or given to other Soviets the next best thing was to return to Germany. They were only allowed to do so in 1988 when Helene was 3 1/2 years old. I have heard that German settlers in the USSR did have German citizenship. Maybe only until their deportation or whatever. In the end it doesn't really matter because Helene after all is more or less a German just born in Russia.
