The ethnic problem for the main part is not amongst the general public. I am Sinhalese and I have no hate or anger towards our Tamil brothers. All of my friends are Singhalese and they also don't have anything against Tamils. Most of the Sinhala people don't have any hate towards Tamil, but it is the politicians who are doing it. There is peace in SL in the case of noone is killing each other, but politically there are a few issues as the government is very reluctant to develop north and east parts of the country. In order for that to be solved we need a president and prime minister who will give equal opportunities to everyone and right now with the rajapaksha family in parliament, it is not going to happen.

You can already see there are only Chinese and English language used in port city.
Some boards have Sinhala as well, but they should include Tamil too. Or either they can remove Chinese language and put Tamil.
