Hey Anthony, you're right, Bill doesn't know how good he has it in Florida, all he really has to worry about is the goats & birds. This Oldsmobile is a real gem, I always thought that this model 98 looks tall, we called them skyscrapers on wheels back in the 80s. 👍🙂

Summer of 1984. My Dad was an Olds dealer. I was 11 years old and spending a lot of my summer with Dad at his dealership that year. He worked hard and didn't take many days off so we were there pretty much every day except Sundays. I loved being with him and even though sometimes I'd be bored hanging around his dealership I wanted to go in with him. One day when I was there helping organize files or something in the finance department Dad walked in and said "Hey, how would you like to take off early and go see Ghostbusters?"
Of course I said yes as I'd been wanting to see it. Dad usually drove a 98 as a demonstrator so we got in his car and headed over to the cinema. We both loved the movie so much and had such a good time we ended up going to see Ghostbusters at least a few more times that summer. It never got old for us. It's strange, but the interior of this car ties me to some of the best memories of my life.

I had an 83 Recency four door! It was often mistaken for a Cadillac! In fact, back then I detailed cars. The original owner brought it to me with 17 miles on it straight from the dealer and said "do whatever you think it needs"! I waxed every painted surface! Hinges, under the doors, the hood and trunk inside.. in 1988 he bought a Fleetwood and I bought the Olds! For 3 years he wanted to buy it back! I drove that car across country 7 times racking up 187,000 miles all the while cleaning and waxing it like day one every 3 months! In 1995 it was stolen and striped bare! I was heartbroken! Got $800 for it from the insurance. I still miss that car today!

Omg! This clip brought back some fun teenage memories. My dad had a white 2 door with white on red interior. White leather seats with everything else the same red as this one and 1/2 white landau roof. It had an olds 403 ci engine. I got to borrow it on special occasions as a senior in high school. Since the rear end was so light you could sit at a light and just smoke the tires or just sit there and make it rock back and forth by turning the wheel back and forth. Everyone loved that car. I bought nothing but oldsmobiles until they were shut down.
My 1st was a 2dr International series Cutlas Ciera, then the last model Olds Tornado and then the Olds Aurora. I never had a problem with any them. In fact, GM called me 3 years after olds closed, asked if I had replaced the fuel rail on my Aurora, which I had, and sent me a $650 check! They told me it was a recall and it should have been fixed free of charge. That just blew me away. They reached out to me in 2007! I now drive a 2018 Buick Lacrosse and love it...

I remember as a kid when these were new I was fascinated by these cars. You don't see many of these out here on the West Coast anymore. For me, I think the Cadillacs drove nicer, but that's likely because they had air suspension. What a lovely boulevard cruiser.

Great trip back to the eighties, Anthony! That is one beautiful 98. That body style of 98 is what actually got me interested them. But by the time I bought one, it was the new downsized 98 Regency Brougham of 1985, which turned out to be one great car! I can still remember the name of the paint color - Champagne Glamour Metallic, and it was the slick top, no vinyl roof, and it had a matching interior. I remember taking that baby on a vacation to California and had zero problems the entire time. Actually the only thing I can even remember replacing on that car was the power antenna motor, it was such a trouble-free car. Oldsmobiles were really wonderful cars, and I have had four of them in my life and never had any trouble with any of them. Thanks, Anthony.

A beautiful original car that's been pampered , garaged & well maintained by its original owner, destined to sit in a field at an Auction Site for a year. Such an injustice to this rare machine. I'm surprised the red interior didn't take more beating from all the sun!
Noting you said the vinyl top looked rich & glossy in pictures, but after a year being out, dried & faded? Just shows how vulnerable these 'classics' are. Even though an older car still looks pristine, that original "condition" won't maintain its perfect State if exposed to the Elements. These are NOT new car replacements. Wow Anthony, what a blast from the past. I'm a Virginia native, and recognized the inspection sticker immediately. Our inspection stickers were always placed in the center of the windshield, with your city, or county license decal placed beside it, making them very easy to be seen by state & local police, who would issue you a ticket if either one was expired. In the last two years, the inspection sticker has been moved to the lower left hand corner of the windshield, and the locality decal removed entirely, because they interfered with modern day GPS, and Autonomous Braking Systems. Yay!
This generation of Oldsmobile 98 Regency sedans were very popular in central Virginia because of a large dealership here named Royal Oldsmobile. Sadly, they closed when GM shut down both the Pontiac, & Oldsmobile brands. I was devastated, the two brands produced some of my favorite cars during those years. The GTO, Firebird, Cutlass Supreme, and 442's were the cars I "lusted" after when I was a young buck. Those days are long gone, but I still have my memories. Thanks for the trip back to the days of my "misspent" youth, I do remember them fondly!
P.S. Bristol, Va. is in southwest corner of the state, near the Tennessee border, and is the home of NASCAR's Bristol Motor Speedway, host this weekend to both the Camping World Truck Series, and NASCAR Cup Series races. It was to have been a big weekend because the asphalt track surface has been covered in dirt for a couple of "one off" races, but it rained overnight last night, and into the day today, cancelling the Truck Race this afternoon, and making the Cup Race on Sunday "iffy"!

      You are correct, Sir
GM did some surveys on their customers in the late 60s early 70s. The were surprised to find out that more millionaires at that time owned Buicks than Cadillacs. Seems that the Buick customers thought that Cadillacs were too "flashy" and "new money"

Everytime I see seats like that, I think I need to find some, build a frame, and use them as an office chair! Some of the most comfortable seats ever put into an automobile.

A lot of people don't know but Oldsmobile was a true test car for Cadillac. I've had 14 Cadillacs in my life and 1 Oldsmobile and that Olds was a 1990 Cutlass Supreme International Series and it made ALL EUROPEAN CARS LOOK BAD IN technology, computers and luxury. Alot of people missed out or just didn't hear about this product from Oldsmobile. Next couple of years later these innovations were perfected on all Cadillac models.

Great car! Only negative I can say is $8995 would be much more palatable if the radio was in operating condition, weatherstripping on driver door repaired/replaced, and the R 12 A/C were recharged and serviced. Other than that...extremely attractive. (Your videos are much more enjoyable and show more integrity than Bill's)

Agree with hierarchy here. My Dad always drove Buicks (Electras, Park Avenues and Rivieras). He says he was never interested in Cadillacs, though he could easily have afforded them. Back when these cars had more distinctive styling in the 50's and 60's, people seemed to develop a preference, and stuck with it.
In the 90s and 2000s he finally came over to Cadillacs (De Ville, De Ville Concours, DHS) snd then settled on JEEPs, of all things.😊

That's a real gem, right along with the wide white wall tires. You couldn't be more right about Bill from Autohaus. Although he has extremely nice cars and gives great history about them, he tends to ramble on wayyy too much about the weather or birds. It's almost as if he's got ADD or something and can't simply ignore it.

if leather needs to be cleaned, melt a bar of dove soap in water for a few days, and use the mushy soap and water it to clean the leather. be sure to use a white wash cloth, and make sure not too much color is coming off

This car is just simply stunning. Equal to, even better than, a Cadillac! I mean, I love Cadillacs, I've had two: a 1977 Sedan De Ville and a 1986 Fleetwood Brougham: but, much as I love them, I'd rather have one of these. (Or even a Buick Park Avenue or, though they're not quite as luxurious, a Pontiac Parisienne.) But these, to me, are probably actually the true superior GM car, at least in terms of gorgeousness of appearance, if nothing else. :)

Love this car! Colour combo is beautiful :) I had a 81 ,Florida car brown on brown. 5.7 diesel. And yes it did run , it ran great. It had a GM Goodwrench reman engine with upgraded head bolts and gaskets. I changed the thermostat to one from. 7.3 powerstoke, flows way more gpm. Let it warm up before driving. 35 mpg. I know those engines were junk. But I’m proud to say I had great luck with mine. Love to see such a clean 98 like this !

Great car. My mother had one of these rather luxurious land yachts. The car had every creature comfort with plush plush interior and it lasted forever. If someone buys this sucker, they'll be confident it's a tank that can take it. It would be able to take on any Buick or Caddy anyday. Good up close camera work. But, dude, order the fooking car manual for your future customer. It's bad form not having one. You also should fix the radio and the a/c.
