I'm with you. I just finished the film and I can barely type this bc my eyes are filled with tears.
My husband was in a serious road collision and in a coma for 5 days. He’s out of his coma now but has a long road ahead of him and has to learn to walk again. Those days when he was so poorly and asleep I sat by his bed side and the power of my love for him felt very spiritual and like an actual force aiding in his healing. This song hits so deep now xx

I lost my Dad, less that five hours ago.
I wasn't in his life for almost two years, until my estranged brother rang me to tell me our Dad was going to die.
My son & I halted Christmas & made a hasty but timely dash to his bedside. I made my peace & said that he was too frail for this world & he had my blessing to pass.
He didn't make Christmas Day, we had just enough time to tell his love ones he gone, and they needed to celebrate Christmas, raise a glass in his name. Simply celebrate his life.
My son wanted to mark his Grandad's life. We agreed we would start the celebrations after the flame extinguished.
It took three hours, I then but the television on and stumbled upon 1984 Christmas Day's TOTP
I partied until this song.
It spoke to me, I started to cry. Now we are here.

I understand your emotions entirely, it is a devastating blow to any parent to lose a child. The wound will never heal. I have bought a burial plot next to my daughter's for when I die.

Its Christmas Day here in England and I am listening to this track. Suddenly its 1984 again and I am 19 years of age. The world is a much younger place. I have much more now than then but in a way so much less. This song reminds me of what I have lost and reminds me of what life is all about.....make love your goal.

I remember the winter of 84/85 well, I was 21 and it was a particularly cold winter in the UK, especially in the south which is unusual. This song always takes me back to that time too. Great times for music, like you rightly say, we had less but somehow it seemed more.
