      @@DefensePoliticsAsia in chasiv yar its not a foothold. its been happening for months now. what russia does is send a bmp with infantry in, they get wiped, and they send another bmp with infantry in. once the russians stop sending bmp which ukraine has to deal with first, then the small number of infantry russia sent into chasiv year across the river get isolated and hunted down. it by no means implies control.
      in the glukovosky district south of the seym river i expected the russians to just retreat to preserve soldiers since the pontoons they put up are getting destroyed within hours from drone surveillance. but the russians doing the ludicrous sending more units south of glukovsky district they cant resupply adequately.
      it was only 155th naval brigade with conscripts there but russia sent elements of the 98th vdv from bakhmut to kursk in glukovsky district south of the river. the russian line there is sepovka sadavoye muzhitsa kulbaki and sinak. the tetkino line is in jeopardy though with ukraine crossing into northern tetkino with possibly crossing the road karyzh. means possibly tetkino is isolated.

      @@DefensePoliticsAsia in terms of klischiivka i dont think the russians took or can take that fortified hill from the north. the reality is the first time they took it was the only way was from the south and up because there is no hill there. russians taking the hill west of klischiivka is hopium. the town itself is in a lowland valley so its a kill zone for russians with ukraine on the hill top.

      @@DefensePoliticsAsia just look at a topographical map with the rivers and lakes west of donetsk. its very difficult terrain for russia to make advances now as its ukraine on high ground and the rivers and lakes making defence easier as russians are forced into narrow areas to get through them.
      with the amount of men russia is losing daily, they will have to mobilize a 2nd time. just the fact russians offering contract soldiers 60k usd tells you how hard of a time they are having getting contract soldiers. its likely peaked and dropping off, and now they have to mobilize again.
      in kursk its reported russians are gonna send conscripts from minority regions rather than the white slavic regions. siberia and east asian conscripts headed to kursk which wont end well but less backlash from st petersburg to moscow to rostov on don.
      the only somewhat organized forces russia has in kursk is east of sudzha and a little north of there. in the rest of kursk in north and west its pockets to slow ukraine. its why kursk governor announced evacuation of rylsk even. ukraine is north of korenovo so supplies to to korenovo are cut.
      in glukovsky district south of seym, the russians will fight until tektino falls and then they will have no choice but to retreat or risk getting hit from 2 sides.

    Fun facts: AUGUST 23, 2024: The new Ukrainian soldiers refuse to fire at the enemy. Others, according to commanders and fellow fighters, struggle to assemble weapons or to coordinate basic combat movements. A few have even walked away from their posts, abandoning the battlefield altogether.
    While Ukraine presses on with its incursion into Russia’s Kursk region, its troops are still losing precious ground along the country’s eastern front - a grim erosion that military commanders blame in part on poorly trained recruits drawn from a recent mobilization drive, as well as Russia’s clear superiority in ammunition and air power.
    “Some people don’t want to shoot. They see the enemy in the firing position in trenches but don’t open fire. ... That is why our men are dying,” said a frustrated battalion commander in Ukraine’s 47th Brigade. “When they don’t use the weapon, they are ineffective.”
    The recently conscripted Ukrainians are a far cry from the battle-hardened fighters who flocked to join the war in the first year of the full-scale invasion. The new troops lack even a minimal level of training.
    They described having to plan ops with infantry who are unable to shoot targets and uninformed about basic topography. Some recruits simply lacked faith in the battle plans of their superiors and walked away from prepared positions.
    “The main problem is the survival instinct of newcomers. Before, people could stand until the last moment to hold the position. Now, even when there is light shelling of firing positions, they are retreating,” said a soldier with the 110th Brigade.
    “No, there are motivated people, but they are just very, very few,”

    You see.... In this area it is wrong to say this or that side controls the area, since it is not a solid frontline. It is NOT filled with Ukrainian or Russian troops every 10 meters, unlike in Donbass. UKraine act with small armed groups doing hit and run raids, using it as a claim that they control this or that area. Nope. They only raided it, perhaps took heavy losses, and ran. So thsoe areas are ratehr GRAY. Russia does not rush to claim that they fully control those areas, while Urkaine are in a rush to display anything as "success".

    NATO and the USA put Ukraine in a quagmire. It is a big mistake for Ukraine to attack Russian territory. In our eyes, he has fallen into an unfair situation in his just cause. Even if they gain temporary territory, the Russians will eventually stop them and save their lands from occupation. They also weakened the Ukrainian Defense, and the peace process was cancelled. Zelenskiy will be remembered in history as the man who destroyed the country. Get well soon to Ukraine.

    The 38K highway highlights the problem with the mapping on the Kursk front.
    There is no possible way the Russians could have held positions in Malaya Loknya for two weeks without resupply. Which suggests that the 38K highway can not possibly be under Ukrainian control. It was colored under Ukrainian control by mappers becuase Ukrainian DRG elements were geolocated driving along the highway, but a few DRG elements does not mean control.

      Before just throwing troops at an area the size of Kursk like Zelensky, it pays to decide how to break up the UA forces & shape the battleground.
      The fact they took a little time organising a counter attack shows they looked carefully at UA positions & watched how they were moving up with support.

    It’ll Be interesting to see if Ukraine manages to pull a Stalin and seriously damage Russian food security. Kursk and Belgorod are the major food producers in Russia after all, and with harvest season coming, I’m not sure the Russian economy can take increased food cost. Or maybe more poor people not being fed will encourage them to take the Russian government’s money to join the front, who knows? Only Putin can stop this madness now…

    • @DenDez3000

      Your thoughts do not make sense, since these regions are not the major regions for agricultural/food production in Russia. The major / the largest are: Rostov, Krasnodar, Stavropol, Volgograd, Voronezh regions. These regions do not even border Ukraine (earlier, the Rostov region bordered, but now - it does not).

    • @Dafttar
      @Dafttar 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's highly doubtful. Even if you were correct in your assumption that the Kursk and Belgorod oblast are major food production areas, Kursk Oblast is approximately 30,000 sq km and Belgorod 27,000 sq km in area. They're both immense compared to the area the Ukrainian troops are present in, not to mention the huge amount of troops it would take to capture and occupy that area.

    • @Er19421
      @Er19421 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DenDez3000 They are not the biggest, but they are major grain producing areas. With the current international sanctions, imports will be too expensive to make up for any lost production, leading to increased prices. For the average Russian income, and the 50% who make less than that, increased prices will be felt. It's too soon to see if there will be externally noticeable effects, but at least internally Russia will see increased levels of food insecurity for the many homeless refugees fleeing the new front. I just don't expect anyone in Russia to benefit from this war except for a handful of corrupt officials
