    💜💜Next "We Are Bulletproof pt2" - released at the same time as No More Dream.
    Note they were very old school hiphop heavy in the early days....Compared to other KPop songs of the time this was different for it’s honest and motivational lyrics, and it’s authenticity... and it's HipHop sound ....No More Dream encourages young people to break free from the pressures of society and pursue their own dreams. It takes the form of a rallying cry against the supposed lack of ambition among youth, and the traditional expectations of parents trying to push their children toward predetermined paths. The song talks about the importance of setting realistic aspirations instead of following someone else’s lead. The members also rap about their own experiences, from studying in school to living freely and doing what they love. The song ultimately serves as a reminder that we have the power to create our own future and pursue our own dreams...Traditionally it is expected to go to school/study for 15hrs a day, then uni, then government or big corp jobs - the pressure on students is intense to conform.
    They were so young in this MV🤣🤣 (They were only 15yo - 20yo)
    Have a great day💜💜

    They’re singing to the youth that have no dreams but are forced by family/teachers, society to have a deeam or they’re losers. They are basically telling them it’s ok not to have a dream. Just be yourself and you’ll find your way. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

    This is their official debut song and MV, their ages were 20 to 15 (JIN was 20 and JUNGKOOK was 15 years old) which was also JUNGKOOK rapping era.

  • @pslinky
    @pslinky ปีที่แล้ว +14

    They're telling the youth that it's ok to follow your dreams, that it's ok if they don't want to be civil servants who follow the path their parents set for them. The industry critics and the public thought this was an outdated concept and didn't understand why bighit would do a concept about kids rebelling, but it was always the company's position that the stories told were from the members.
    Namjoon (RM) said in an interview back then that the lyrics were sort of a message to his past self. He was a super good student (IQ 148) and adults praised him for getting good grades and doing well in school. But other than doing well to please his parents and teachers he had no other dream. So this is telling teens to find and follow their dreams. 💜
    This mv as you can probably tell was back when their company was pretty poor. They introduced themselves in the beginning because it was their debut song and no one knew them yet aside from the few ARMYs who discovered their predebut vlogs and songs.

  • @catherinejennifer776

    "I need you" is the song which made BTS famous internationally
    It made debut on the Heatseekers Albums chart (billboard) at number 6.
    Even RM stated “we didn't realize we were becoming famous until we were invited to KCONs [K-pop music festivals] in the U.S. and Europe in 2014 or 2015.
    "I need you" turned the tables for BTS. They won their first korean award for it and tbh i prefer the live version than actual mv because we can see their beautiful choreography to it. In mv you have to watch their previous videos to get the story line so it will mostly be them acting.

      Actually bts was already famous internationally, I need u is actually the song that made them finally breakout in korea. Before that antis used to dangle in front of our noses that "bts is only popular internationally and get no love in their own country so they'll never win awards and disband soon" !!

  • @bulletproof_hope

    There first Korean win was "I need you" in 2015
    They changed their concept.
    They did interact (on YT) with people all over the world since pre-debut !
    That's why fans of other groups in Korea couldn't/wouldn't believe there wasn't cheating involved when they started to win on music shows !
    Internationale support was a never seen thing before for K-Pop Stars!😊

    I believe Wings album in 2016, it charted on Billboard 200 first and the lead single is Blood, Sweat and Tears. The album is inspired by Demien by Hermann Hesse, the album is the transition from youth to young adult. The theme is temptation, chaos, etc...as young adults.
    But, when 2017 came around and they released Love Yourself :Her, the lead single was DNA, first album of the Love Yourself trilogy. It really made them huge in America. First time performing at an American award show, they performed DNA. Its about finding love, being in love, etc...there is a storyline for this trilogy, LY:Her, LY:Tear and LY: Answer. First, its love, then heartbreak and then answer (to find true love is first loving yourself and being true to who you are even all the imperfections). I love watching fancams of the concert, a whole stadium of Armys singing about loving themselves. So many became Armys during this era.

    • @Kookietaetan
      @Kookietaetan ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This is when I became Army so I think this was their breakout song that brought them to the American stage, they had a small following in America their 1st concert was free and had about 200 people I think, it’s all documented in the series American Hustle Life, they learned all about what hip hop was in American from Coolio, Warren G if you can stomachs the 1st 2 horrible episodes, it really was a good experience for them. Tae, JK & Yoongi did one of my favorite performances in this series o’ happy day, Tae’s voice, omg

    The scholar culture in korea is crazy, teens and kids study more than 12 hours a day and the parents force them to go to fields they dont like.
    In the begining bts used to talk about teens being teens and persuing their dreams but as they started to grow the songs started to talk about everything a young adult goes through their lives. Now they are between 25/30 years old and their songs are really mature.

    I had to giggle when you said you would run through all of their songs in order - they have about 400... It will still be a major task running through only those they have music videos for, I think that is probably 50 or so just for group releases... :) By the way, many fan favorites are actually B sides, so they don't have music videos. But there are fantastic live performances for all songs!

    it´s so crazy if you follow their albums from start until now they evolve so fast fir each album and now their solo stuff is the deepest they have gone so far. you also se how they grow up and what they talk about in videos also reflects what they sing about. the way of writing lyrics is also way better and is more poetic.

    when evan graduated, rm suga & jhope were in high school & looking to join a record label (rm & jhope as artists, suga as a producer) by the end of the year they were all in bts.
    when jacob graduated, jimin joined bts as the last trainee & was not expected to stay in the group to debut bc he was so new & always close to being cut from the team, but the members advocated for him to be in the final line up.
    when alex graduated, bts got their 1st win on a music show (we dont have these types of shows in america) and this was a really big milestone on them becoming the global stars they are now. but also....... it was this that convinced me to look into bts' discography & a few days later i became an army💜

    I hope you check out the new releases while going in chronological order. Jungkook just released and performed his new single Seven which you can check out as well to be updated.
    Baby Bangtan is amazing from the get-go. This song is telling their generations in general to have your own dream and fight for that dream instead of succumbing to the expectations/pressures of the society or parents which are other people's dreams.
    The title No More Dream, itself is a double entendre :
    a) Not having a dream for oneself
    b) Saying No More to other people's dreams
    At least, that's how I interpreted it.
    As you delve deeper into the BTS music, you'll notice, having more than one meaning is very common in their lyrics and they are very meaningful in general. Hope you go through their lyrics again and once you understand the meanings and the intricacies of the lyrics then you're going to see the song in a whole new light and experience. Enjoy your journey!😄

    They're supposed to be a hip-hop group at first so it's rap heavy but then later, they decided to release a "boyband-ish" kind of song. I think they had "Like" in this same album which is a sweeter song than this. They also release "We Are Bulletproof Pt. 2" I think a month after this. They first blew up during "I Need You" era. That was the song when had their first win. But they blew up with their song "Blood Sweat & Tears". They won Album of the Year and Artist of the Year when they released that song and got nominated and won Top Social Artist in Billboard Music Award. They first blew up in the U.S. during "D.N.A", I think.
    Edit: I became an ARMY in 2021 so I could be wrong in some details.

      Youre not exactly wrong, but it seems confusing. Album and Artist of the year was in Korea. And they did blow up in America during DNA and first performed in AMAs in 2017, same year they first won BBMAs top social artist.

    So Gangname style really was big in America, but BTS hadn't t achieved popularity on that scale at this point.
    What i mean to say is, even though Gangname Style was relelased in 2012 and this one was released in 2013, it's not really correct to say that this song introduced people (in the US or other western countries) to how varied the k-pop genre is because this song wasn't popular in America at the time.
    BTS was basocally unknown even in Korea at this point, so I'd be surprised if many people in US - aside from the rare BTS fan from this time period - heard this song within the same year it dropped.

  • @sofiagv95
    @sofiagv95 ปีที่แล้ว

    I feel like BTS had like three waves of getting known? Outside of Korea it was Dope that brought a lot of fans, then it was I Need U that brought more fans locally and outside and then it was Blood Sweat and Tears. After BS&T their fame just kept going higher and higher.

    U might to watch the Story of BTS by Rice Squad. It's a summary of how they got in to the company to begin with. Or The Rise of Bangtan docu is the best.

    Haha. OK. I lied. I might write more before I get caught up. This was fun. Love that you paused and talked and I enjoy your commentary and nostalgia. I kind of hope you do them all in order. This is how I started actually. I was hearing how huge they were so I decided to check out their "biggest" which was dynamite and that was soooo not my thing. It was a little bit later when I stumbled upon them again and thought I would give them another try and I started at the beginning like you guys. It was sooo different so I gave them another chance and it didn't take long and I was hooked. They evolve with their sound and vocals and content. Their albums have themes and some even an entirely alternate universe (the BU which is what you stumbled upon with Run). The BU involves kind of like the Butterfly effect and timeline ripples and so much that even now I think I understand it all but it was dark and sad. Anyway... I'm sure army told you they barely even debuted... it was only because another act didn't end up going on so they threw them up there. They were not big after Gangnam Style. They debuted but the entire KPOP industry tried to keep them down, because they weren't part of the main 3 elite companies. They fought for years and it was about 2018 when they started getting huge. Eventually I think Dynamite and Butter (their English songs they wrote in the pandemic just as a way to give people a way to be positive and relieve stress) are what set them off like crazy in America. They wrote other deaper songs in the pandemic too, they just didn't take off in America. They didn't intend for those songs to get as big as they did. Anyway... that's how their fame kind of went. Okay. Promise to write less since I'm probably saying what everyone else says anyway. I just sometimes feel the need to say things too. LOL. Sorry. Let's go.

    Hi, muy buenas reacciones. El mensaje de la canción es una crítica a la juventud que deja de soñar bajo las imposiciones de los adultos que marcan sus pasos a sol y sombra. Llama a los jóvenes a hacerse responsables y soñar en lo que verdaderamente quieren para su futuro. Es duro porque la realidad era y sigue siendo dura bajo esas imposiciones. Hay un vídeo explicativo como con la mayoría de los temas de BTS aclarando los conceptos líricos y los contextos socioculturales. Saludos desde Argentina. /// Perdón, sobre los vestuarios hay que tener en cuenta que la agencia estaba casi en bancarrota y compraban lo más económico y accesible que respondiera a lo que necesitaban para sus performances.

    Gentlemen, I enjoyed your reactions, BUT I encourage you to research the South Korean culture to have a full understanding of this video! The value of education in South Korea has created extraordinary pressure on the students. The percentage of suicide in teenagers in Korea is the highest in the world! The protest of BTS against this system is why this song is perceived as radical. It’s very comfortable to react as an insulated American who has never been confronted with other cultural values, but I assure you that your complete understanding of life will be enriched as you open yourselves to the powerful messages that BTS deliver! Beyond that, I am fairly certain that Armys would prefer to have the focus on BTS rather than an equal sharing of each “box”. I believe that your lives will be enormously enriched if you take the time to research the history of BTS! (For instance the Taylor Mari video.). Including the fact that your subscribers will skyrocket. I am a 74 year old woman living in Sweden and I have been Army since 2017. I purple you.
