That white box is just a spacer to fill the box and keep everything from shifting. While I definitely agree with your assessment on figure quality, the fact that GW miniatures cost 10x as much if you get the all in SOB pledges, definitely means that they dang well better be more detailed.
One of the odd benefits of the SoB minis being less detailed is that I've worried a lot less about the quality of paint job i can achieve - and often ended up painting better as a result. I missed this kickstarter unfortunately and its extortionate to pick all this up at retail in the UK, so will just be picking up a few bits from this set. Looking forward to painting up their current kickstarter in 2027!
Second . Waiting for my copy in europe.. Was is worth? Let's put it like this.. if you want everything brimstone, that stuff in retail usually goes for 800-1000 Eur, so by paying say 300-350 Eur, heck even 400 for the new pledge, is still worth it :)
Thanks for sharing the unboxing. I've got a lot on my table already for painting and such, so I don't know when I'll get to getting mine out of shrink. I always appreciate your critical eye to production. Also the fancy d6 is a peril die, with different numbers on each side from a normal d6.
So I was looking at backing the current Shadows of Brimstone campaign, but after hearing that you have to assemble all the models, it made me hesitate and think weather I actually want to get into assembly… 😆 I have a few hundred models to paint already, so I really want to add assembly to that….? But what throws me off a bit more than just the assembly, is that it looks to be just a box with all the packs of sprues…. What do you do for organization and storage after the fact? Does the game come with any sort of organizational storage to make the game easier to table? The games look great, but I’m pretty daunted but all of the extra hobby involvement.
Standard SoB wave of content, just a whole lot of STUFF. The smartest thing I did with this game is become choosey with what I bought for it. I don't know how some of these guys with 3 all-in waves of content store it in an accessible way, never mind play it all.
Wave 2.. contains all the expansions announced during the last KS (map tiles, doors, dice) except Perilious Expiditions and Any additional sets you got that were already in the warlord pledge.. Then the new hero classes revealled in the pledge manager.. Skin Walker, Norse Dwarf, Blood Witch. Wave 3 Is Perilious Expiditions, 5 new card packs, 3 mission packs (Trederra Monarchy, serpant Mercenaries, Targa flamethrower bois - yeah I can't remember their names) and then other new enemy expansions released during the pm, so the varient giants, varient plants, Varient storm guard thingys.
I missed this kickstarter but preordered what I could from the Flying frog store. I'm all in on their newest kickstarter however so I'm hoping I can pick up some of the exclusives in the pledge manager.
The most important thing I heard you say….your wife play death guard. I need to find me a woman that plays tabletop games. I’m running out of time though, probably won’t happen. Lol I’m 51 and a huge nerd, most women around my age still look at video games and board games as kid stuff.
Hah! I am indeed quite lucky :D She's been painting up her poxwalkers recently :) It's easy to solve this sir, just marry a younger gal :P Sad to say though, the idea of "games" being for kids is alive and well even in the latest generation of 20 somethings. Some people just don't get it :)

The first KickStarter I ever backed! Still waiting for my game. ~30 games have been backed and received since. Very hard for me to get excited for this one at this point. Flying Frog has lost this customer for life, regardless of quality or experience. There are too many other great companies and games out there than to put up with their shenanigans.
I bought the retail of Valhalla because of Vikings. YAY! But also, Targa or whatever the Tredderan maps are called. I really wish i had backed that KS. I have to disagree with you on the minis. They are horrible in how they fit together. And, why do we need to assemble them, especially with how they look? I also think SoB is going to die in popularity if they dont update the minis as well as the entire art style. One thing Mythic Games, Awaken Realms, Steamforge Games and many others have are preassembled minis that look fantasic! Hell, I'd take Zombicide minis over what we get from FFP. That said, I would much rather FFP revamp the way they structure their KS with only 1 core pledge instead of 2 (because cost will go up.) And produce better minis, art, and gameplay revisions. Keep the good stuff, but throw out the roll to move and bloat. I'd much rather have 500 great cards than 5000 average cards. I will never buy, much less play all the content thats available for SoB. They could cash in on a SoB 2.0 thats a serious theme thats not cartoony. Last rant. Ive spent 3.5 hours clipping spruces, lightly sanding those clips, and glueing them together for Gates of Valhalla. Im not the fastest at it. And my near vision requires me to use magnifiers. I wouldve much rather soent that 3.5 hours playing or painting. As you said, these arent GW quality minis. So why force the players to do the sprues. Its really making me consider dropping my pledge, but i want more Tredderan pieces. So, im keeping it for that possibility. Apologies for the rants.
Sorry you don't like the minis, I really enjoy assembling them and customizing, much more satisfying then uniformed pre-assembled CMON or Mythic Games' minis.. Also, they got much better since first editions, those minis were really bad, now I love them. And judging from the success of the new kickstarter, you don't have to worry that "SoB is going to die".. ;)
@@1AngelAlita How the minis join together is what's awful for some of them. I like when they add a post and hole to align the assembly. But for example, with the viking archer with the bow, her bow has 2 flat spots and trying to align both at the same time along with cement times to cure, it is a pain. I'll admit, I'll mever be a surgeon, so adding shaky hands on top of needing magnifiers...those parts aren't fun for me to do. Maybe if I was 20 years younger...
Miniatures don't look great at all, look very subpar in detail and quality honestly. Also the materials. Im off of hype now, being this their last project.
Painting them up is actually quite nice, but the style of them being kind of cartoony definitely gives that effect. No texture to be found hardly anywhere.
@@TheKingofAverage Yeah but I mean, others are cartoony but awesome (darkest dungeon for example) I was expecting some quality, not CMON, Mythic or GW quality, but good enough. These to me look even worse than Gloomhaven's, little detail, many many flat areas, etc. I mean I'm backing their next project anyway, cause I love the game, but I felt a bit discouraged watching the components quality, miniatures the most. Not the end of the world, but you know :D Thx for being 100% honest btw, excelent video. Sadly Im loving the game so I cant pass haha.
I don't know what you are talking about, it's all beautiful stuff, but you'd have to hold it in your hands, I guess. Brimstone minis have their own appeal and I definitely prefer them over pre-assembled ones from CMON or Mythic Games..
@@1AngelAlitathe self assembly should allow for more detail, more dynamic poses and larger size, FF only really take advantage of the later. The minis are cheap and should make for a cheaper game, but the prices are starting to creep up.

It's a bit disheartening that people are buying Wave 2 stuff now in stores (tiles packs and gates packs), while I'm still waiting for Wave 1, LOL.
