one thing i love about ur videos is that u always explain the whole thought process of the answer, even the misleading parts!! helps a lot with learning too
I got stuck on provide, thinking "provide a" meant that a was the first letter followed by a sample of lipstick. No luck so I guessed the answer and then saw the wordplay as soon as I got it!
Same! I was trying to "provide" or give the letter A to a "sample" or piece of the word lipstick. I was staring at the letters ALIPS for an embarrassing amount of time.
Spent a while thinking provide was the definition. Once I switched to model, the answer popped into my head and I immediately saw the wordplay. Good clue, fun :)
I never find the hidden words when they’re using multiple words. I thought sample was only referring to lipstick, so I couldn’t figure out what to do with provide.
Interesting that you went for the noun definition of ideal, I was thinking along the adjective lines, where a model citizen for example, would be an ideal citizen. Nice softball today, feels like it’s been a minute since we had a hidden word. 2 under!
Crazy how different people think differently. I got yesterday's puzzle with no hints. I read the clue and immediately knew the answer. Today, I needed a hint, a letter, plus some outside help. Even after getting it, I had to watch this video to understand it. But yesterday was obvious to me.
I’m right there with you-some days it clicks, and others I’m at a loss. Today worked for me, but I think it was yesterday, or maybe the day before, when I just couldn’t sort anything out!
I understood that sample meant to take a piece, but later I thought it could be a 'hidden within / contains' indicator. This is the first one that I actually got. Usually these indicators fool me but today they didn't!
Great clue today! I spent a minute thinking the definition was "Provide", but once I learned "model" was the actual definition, the cryptic wordplay was obvious.
I think its really easy to assume PROVIDE is the definition here. But i thiught about it and realized MODEL can actually mean so many more things and it just clicked
Ahh, nearly had this one. I knew 'sample' meant take some of the letters, saw 'deal' embedded in the clue, but couldn't make that work. Should have noticed the 'i' and would have had the answer.
I knew sample would be 'get part of', and as there wasn't an anagram indicator, you can generally assume that the full world will already be in the right order, so I just looked at groups of 5 letters and stumbled on ideal 😀 2 under par, whoop whoop.
I just got recommended a video from someone called cryptic Wordle and he seems to be doing a very similar structure with the videos about the website. Is there copying going on there?
I have a question about the clue types. Can an &lit clue have a double definition as the cryptic? Since its all definition, it feels weird to have 3 definitions in a single clue Example: Body part that gives!? (4)
I don’t think it’s supposed to be the noun though. A “model” something is a perfect or best something. Same with ideal. Just as small nitpick with the explanation.
@@noahgelman4923 They can both be used as either, and both can fit. But it’s a bit more of a stretch when using the nouns. Again, not saying it can’t fit in a pinch, but the other use is basically identical and probably the intended way to read it. But it doesn’t matter, which is why I said it was a nitpick.
I knew right away that model was the definition. I thought that sample was just for lipstick. So I was looking for a synonym for provide that could be added to l or ls or lk to make a word. I finally used a hint and got the i and guessed the word but never spotted it in there. This is hands down my worst wordplay.
I just couldn’t see this one. Needed a letter and got it quickly after that but had no idea how the wordplay was working even with the answer. After a good couple of days of no hints this brought me back to reality. 😅
one thing i love about ur videos is that u always explain the whole thought process of the answer, even the misleading parts!! helps a lot with learning too
Yes learning how to confidently disregard an incorrect train of thought is really useful

Yep ‘provide a’ threw me today. Very easy with hindsight!
Spent a while thinking provide was the definition. Once I switched to model, the answer popped into my head and I immediately saw the wordplay. Good clue, fun :)
Provide was a definition a few days ago, so using a bit of meta logic, I eliminated that possibility.
Finally got a hidden word! Usually I don’t think to look for one, but I found sample to be a very easy clear indicator
Sometimes when I'm stuck I just look for hidden words anyways even without a clear wordplay indicator loll
I never find the hidden words when they’re using multiple words. I thought sample was only referring to lipstick, so I couldn’t figure out what to do with provide.
I figured out the wordplay of sampling the words before but i had to look up synonyms for model as ideal would have never come to mind.
Interesting that you went for the noun definition of ideal, I was thinking along the adjective lines, where a model citizen for example, would be an ideal citizen. Nice softball today, feels like it’s been a minute since we had a hidden word. 2 under!

Failed today! Forgot about how the sample wordplay worked
You didn't fail, buddy....you learned. You'll get the next one :)
I understood that sample meant to take a piece, but later I thought it could be a 'hidden within / contains' indicator. This is the first one that I actually got. Usually these indicators fool me but today they didn't!
I loved the words within words ones 🥰
Great clue today! I spent a minute thinking the definition was "Provide", but once I learned "model" was the actual definition, the cryptic wordplay was obvious.
Hooray! Three weeks in and I'm starting to get these without asking for letters! 🎉
Dammit, technically 1 under par but had no idea why the answer worked
I knew sample would be 'get part of', and as there wasn't an anagram indicator, you can generally assume that the full world will already be in the right order, so I just looked at groups of 5 letters and stumbled on ideal 😀 2 under par, whoop whoop.
was stuck trying to find a sample of ‘lipstick’ instead of ‘provide a lipstick’ but got it eventually
4 over par today! i got the i from lipstick but had to come to the explanation to figure out where deal came from
Once you know to look for hidden words those are always easy. This was a 3 second job.
No problem with that one. Textbook 😁
Yeah got sample being a look in the words indicator
Another good one today 🎉
in our stats, you should show how many letters we've revealed, and how many times we used the hint! it would be nice hehe
Woohoo! I feel like u am back on track!
Got this quite quickly. I’m (slowly) learning
Yes! Got this one trying to eliminate for a region type clue.. but it worked! 😅
what happened to the format of "you get ideal, another word.... for model"! I missed the satisfying ending I've come to expect
I'm glad you didn't use model as an anagram indicator as i would not have picked that up 😉
I just got recommended a video from someone called cryptic Wordle and he seems to be doing a very similar structure with the videos about the website. Is there copying going on there?
I have a question about the clue types.
Can an &lit clue have a double definition as the cryptic?
Since its all definition, it feels weird to have 3 definitions in a single clue
Example:
Body part that gives!? (4)
Is it ok to have 'for' as a linking word that isn't part of wordplay?
2 under. It's been a good year so far - this can't last! 😂
I actually timed myself this time. 01.42.92 - almost 2 minute cryptic haha
So cross with myself! I knew what I was looking for and still didn't see it! Doh!
Totally stumped me today
Saw "sample" before I entirely read it
But very nice surface
I love these!
I don’t think it’s supposed to be the noun though. A “model” something is a perfect or best something. Same with ideal.
Just as small nitpick with the explanation.
The "model" you defined is also a noun, so I'm a bit confused on what you mean. Can you elaborate?
No I think it's an adjective in that case eg. A model student might be an ideal student
Both ideal and model can be both noun and adjective.
@@noahgelman4923 They can both be used as either, and both can fit. But it’s a bit more of a stretch when using the nouns.

Glad it was an easy one today, I've finally made it to 100 under par 🎉
A nice and easy one after yesterday's hard work.
yay! got it so quickly
Tried edeali first 😂 then moved 1 letter over and realised ideal is a real word haha
Nice one. Thought provide was the definition at first. Then it clicked.
I knew right away that model was the definition. I thought that sample was just for lipstick. So I was looking for a synonym for provide that could be added to l or ls or lk to make a word. I finally used a hint and got the i and guessed the word but never spotted it in there. This is hands down my worst wordplay.
Im getting better at these
nice easy one today
Git it in one. 2 under and 10/10
I just couldn’t see this one. Needed a letter and got it quickly after that but had no idea how the wordplay was working even with the answer.
After a good couple of days of no hints this brought me back to reality. 😅
isn’t this the second time ideal has been the answer
nvm it’s similar to 23 dec answer ideally
But what is "for" doing in the clue?
It's the equal sign in the equation
connector words! he talked about them the other day
in what universe is an ideal a model
A model answer is also an ideal answer.
@@noire9703 i've never heard of that before. what field is that in?
you get off on being overly complicated dont you?
I didn't like the sample wordplay
same. i got the answer but didn’t really like it
