Glenn Greenwald: Why Did NBC Pull Veteran Reporter After He Witnessed Israeli Killing of Gaza Kids?

- www.democracynow.org - NBC is facing questions over its decision to pull veteran news correspondent Ayman Mohyeldin out of Gaza just after he personally witnessed the Israeli military's killing of four Palestinian boys on a Gaza beach. Mohyeldin was kicking a soccer ball around with the boys just minutes before they died. He is a longtime reporter in the region. In his reporting, he reports on the Gaza conflict in the context of the Israeli occupation, sparking criticism from some supporters of the Israeli offensive. Back in 2008 and 2009, when he worked for Al Jazeera, Mohyeldin and his colleague Sherine Tadros were the only Western journalists on the ground in Gaza as Israel killed 1,400 people in what it called "Operation Cast Lead." We speak to Glenn Greenwald of The Intercept, who has revealed that the decision to pull Mohyeldin from Gaza and remove him from reporting on the situation came from NBC executive David Verdi. Greenwald also comments on the broader picture of the coverage of the Israel/Palestine conflict in the U.S. media.

No one's allowed to criticise Israel, its brutal occupation and colonisation is great according to the mainstream media, don't anyone point out that the Palestinians repressed by Israel aren't just Muslim but Christian also and don't point out that Gaza is a prison with a refugee population ethnically cleansed from Southern Israel in the first place. I'm sure if you asked a Hamas member whether they'd rather be in an air conditioned helicopter, battleship or manning a drone they'd say yes rather than firing the glorified firework rockets they are at the moment. The no1 cause of anger to the west isn't the west's support of brutal Arab dictators but the one sided, hypocritical support of an apartheid state called Israel founded on the theft of the native people land and the holding of it by force.
USA is ranked 46th in the world on the Press freedom index. There are 3rd world countries that are ranked higher... That says a lot about US news media, think about it.
Ayman Mohyeldin was really good when he covered the uprising in Egypt. I remember when he was captured in Cairo, and then thankfully released. He is really brave and reports the facts as a proper journalist. That is what scares the zionist controlled news network bosses. He should start his own channel.....

These people accuse Israel of targeting children and are very worked up about it. But they do not seem worked up that Hamas's 3000 rockets have all targeted civilians.

Mohyeldin is a wonderful reporter and he's back on the air, on sight, so sorry, Glenn Greenwald, find another story to whine about, another headline to exploit make money from.
Mohyeldin and Engel are both excellent, stellar reporters. Did it ever occur to you that Ayman was being interview for a war crimes case? If I ever heard you utter a positive word about anything, I might occasionally believe your negative ones.

Has anyone else considered that perhaps the reporter was the target by israel for his good work at telling both sides and perhaps nbc considered this a possibility. If this rare good reporter was playing soccer minutes earlier with the slaughtered children, I would wonder what the target could possibly have been, if not him....
Is it because it was a lie?.
The IDF spoek harshly against themselves for the death of the four boys on the beach, noting their technology should have recognised that they were boys playing. They did not and a terrible mistake was made. Meanwhile Hamas purposely targets any Israeli and if they hit a child care centre, Hamas will rejoice. The IDF did not celebrate the beaths of the boys on the beach. That is a major philosophical difference with Israel vs Hamas and the Islamist in general. Wake up West, the war is building.
It has been said that Israel had no strike there at the time and it seems that the explosion on the beach was either a misdirected rocket from Gaza or mines which they have implanted to prevent an Israeli invasion from the water. Thank you
