For the people who don’t see the controller layout button you have to enable it in the properties of the game. To get there click on the little settings icon next to the game in steam then go to controller then enable steam input
The first night I applied these settings, everything worked great. No problem with sprinting with left click putting you into a standing crawl. I log on today and experience this and I dont understand why. For the people who cant sprint or toggle 2x4, change sprint to always. This will allow you to sprint without left click input. To toggle zoom, simply add another command underneath the A and D commands in controller layout. Use the left shift key and DO NOT put it on repeat turbo. You dont have to put in for long press, regular press will work.

My problem is when its set to left click you cant zoom your weapon and when you run if you accidently click it slows you down.. hopefully i can set it on a elite controller on a button on the back

He maps down to cycle press W and then wonders why he loses all momentum. So then he unbinds W in game. Makes no sense lol. I'm convinced these settings could definitely be simplified lol
I miss when you pressed a direction you just went that direction. Seeing players basically glitch the opposite way their momentum should take them is frustrating to play against. As a dad that now only has time to play max of 2 times a week, it's just not feasible to play shooters anymore with how much even the casual player base plays. If sbmm is going to be a thing I wish it was based off of recent time played. I've got the teamwork, tactics, positioning, etc from a decade plus of shooters, but my aim, advanced movement tactics, meta knowledge, etc are trash
Bind it to a different button. I use a ps5 controller so I binded it on the share button. Sorry not sure what hys called but the share button on the left side used for screenshots on ps5 haha. Just bind it on steam. Look for your keyboard bind for zoom and bind it to that button
Actually doing some different things with the strafe settings so I’m excited to try. I’ve had issues with tapstrafe inconsistency when in game where sometimes it just won’t let me hit it and my rythm gets shattered in gun fights. However, in the range my settings work 100% of the time which is so infuriating to swap between practice to in game. District do you know why that is happening cause I know a lot of dudes with this issue! Thanks a lot

iam officially going to controller now that i can tap strafe AND get aimbot, i am unstoppable, been nailing 8+ kill games back to back. My teammates are like woah! and I am like ye! Although I am using a program from the microsoft store, not from steam, will be trying this out later when I get home

I don’t think using L3 for tap strafing is the best solution. I tried but immediately I switched the Tao strafe bind to my hump button which is L1 everything feels really smooth
@@jeffreypayne1161 yea I think I found out how to get it working. It seems you have to also point the left stick in the direction you are wanting to turn as well. So instead of just holding left stick straight forward and turning with right stick, try holding left stick upper left in addition to the left input on right stick. Hope this helps everyone else as well

long press has never worked for me. it always turn off after a few consistent forward strafes. still cant figure out why, regular press on turbo works but it sucks cause its not strong enough to even use half the time
DISCLAIMER - You wont be able to move in death boxes with these settings because the forward input is scroll wheel, now when you move forward while looting it will scroll the deathbox instead, also dont put w on your s strafe it will make your ras strafe not as smooth

Yesterday it worked perfectly, i go to bed and wake up, and i cant run, my L1 button is my aim button my left stick doesnt work, and when i reset everything back to normal it worked, then i did all the settings again, but now its like i never did anything at all.
If they run apex strong, overwatch will be a breeze and siege should run pretty well too. Apex is very graphically intensive, so you can expect games with smaller maps and slightly less detail to run similar/better in some cases.
i sacrificed my melee button for zoom i set the right stick to left click as well just without the mode shift settings. i dont melee too often anyways but when i do, i just holster the weapon. it kind a sucks but it works for me
Because mode shitf does not have the option to bind the directional pad "down arrow" as a tap strafe button, so i can assign it on my paddle and only lose the irrelevant things that the down arrow does, i tried binding it to the "X" button, so then, the irrelevant things are on the X, then i can put my crouch in the "Down Arrow" and then assigned to the paddle. So basically, using paddles, i am slide jumping with Down-arrow + "A" and i am tap strafing using a paddle binded on "X" button. But, it just doesnt seem to work, my X button just opens the irrelevant wheel... Followed your guide and adjusted accordingly...

To me (as an mnk player) this feels kinda scummy. I see how getting yourself a forward tap strafe is fair, as thats something that almost all mnk players can do easily. However mnk players cant easily replicate all the other directional tap strafes (especially as most players, including myself, have scroll down as jump). I just feel its kinda scummy for controller players to be able to easily do these side and back tap strafes, as thats movement thats much harder to replicate on mnk (you have to start learning lurch strafe tech, which is a hard mechanic to learn), and controllers still have the advantage of aim assist. No hate to district ofc, and again i completely agree that a forward tap strafe is fine, but the rest seems kinda unfair, both given that it takes almost no effort to learn, and also because tap strafing is used a lot by controller players to justify the strength of aim assist, despite the fact that this is way stronger than what most mnk players will ever be able to do.
definitely in agreement here; it's a bit ridiculous how overpowered controller on PC is anymore as a result of being able to do this love watching District, have watched him for a while and have honestly improved at the game because of him, but I absolutely despise this proliferating as a MNK player who came from controller, myself. it's at the point where i'd rather have all movement exploits removed from the game at this point, because controller players have a clear, indisputable advantage in terms of movement and close range fights are absolutely absurd against controller players doing this kind of thing.
@@Halogenvsrg As a movement player, I definitely dont want this sort of movement exploit removed, as things like tap strafing add so much skill expression, and are fun to watch and rewarding to pull off. My main issue is that its just abusing macros, and whilst I can kinda get behind this to just copy things that controller just cant achieve (and are just inbuilt advantages to playing mnk, mainly just talking about moving while looting and forward tap strafes), doing stuff outside of that I just think is scummy. IMO this applies to mnk and controllers, no one really should be using macros (or configs) in order to give themselves an advantage, and I think this applies even more to controller, as they already have aim assist. I still think that a forward tap strafe macro for controller is fine, but outside of that it just doesnt seem fair, and is just abusing macros.
To be fair if you don't set your right stick to joystick mouse you can't really look around and aim without it buggin out and making the mode shift work when it wants to so my mode shift turns left stick to wasd and right stick to joystick mouse effectively disabling aim assist for about half a second after the modeshift is done, not arguing weather or not it's scummy just pointing out for it to work at 100% efficiency disables aim assist for a bit
@@R3APER-350xx A few things with this. Firstly my overall point is that you get all of this movement, which in this case is just stronger (and far easier) than what you can do with mnk (and only because of macro abuse), and you still get to have aim assist almost the entire time that you are playing. You also wont be in that state for long (as its only while you input the tap strafe) so your lack of aim assist is only very short lived, and its also not like you cant shoot, you are just no longer having something help you out aiming, so its not even like you wont do damage while doing this, you just cant beam as hard as you usually can (and again its just for the short time you input the tap strafe). Finally when you do a usual forward tap strafe, in order to use it you also have to turn your view to look elsewhere, and so you wont really be shooting much anyway (the majority of the time). This lack of aim assist is only really an issue when doing these side and back tap strafes, which is what I dont think should be allowed anyway, and is the tech not really possible on mnk (im again ignoring lurch strafes (movement keys in combination with a forward tap strafe, which kinda replicates this), as they are far far more complicated and advanced, and only a very small minority of mnk players will be able to do them).
@@bpnik didn't say it wasn't scummy was just pointing out that it does disable your aim assist for a bit in order to make full use of it effectively, after playing with it for a couple weeks I've had my fun but it's a bit much and I can't really make use of it competitively, probably just gunna go back to using my double pedal with scroll wheel up set to each side (only set to like 10 so I gotta tap each side a few times for it to really work) for forward momentum shifts and wall bouncing over small ledges

Yeah auto-sprint enables a lot of nutty movement stuff. Also reduces wear and tear on your sticks. It’s really a lot better to have it on. Even KBM uses auto-sprint. There’s really no reason to slow walk in this game so auto-sprint just prevents you from having to do an extra step to go fast. You’ll get used to it. You click the stick unnecessarily a lot at first, but eventually you’ll just stop.
@@Justin-cw7rg another question, what do you do about toggle zoom? Normally that's left stick click. Idk how to get around that and still be able both tap strafe and toggle.
@@idkvwad I set my controller settings to custom, copied everything from default but changed zoom from left stick to right stick. Felt awkward for awhile but I got used to it. So, turning on auto sprint, turning off double click left stick to sprint and setting right stick as zoom should help out..
So I just set this up , I triple checked I got everything right on the set up but when I'm running and hit the joystick it puts away and takes out my weapon 😂😂 lol is it supposed to do that and man I'm struggling w getting the tap strafe right lol but I'm definitely Practicing

sbmm for pubs IS based on recent gameplay. hence why people exploit it by performing bad for a few games in a row to get bot lobbies/worse lobbies

I just feel its kinda scummy for controller players to be able to easily do these side and back tap strafes, as thats movement thats much harder to replicate on mnk (you have to start learning lurch strafe tech, which is a hard mechanic to learn), and controllers still have the advantage of aim assist. No hate to district ofc, and again i completely agree that a forward tap strafe is fine, but the rest seems kinda unfair, both given that it takes almost no effort to learn, and also because tap strafing is used a lot by controller players to justify the strength of aim assist, despite the fact that this is way stronger than what most mnk players will ever be able to do.
definitely in agreement here; it's a bit ridiculous how overpowered controller on PC is anymore as a result of being able to do this
love watching District, have watched him for a while and have honestly improved at the game because of him, but I absolutely despise this proliferating as a MNK player who came from controller, myself. it's at the point where i'd rather have all movement exploits removed from the game at this point, because controller players have a clear, indisputable advantage in terms of movement and close range fights are absolutely absurd against controller players doing this kind of thing.
@@Halogenvsrg As a movement player, I definitely dont want this sort of movement exploit removed, as things like tap strafing add so much skill expression, and are fun to watch and rewarding to pull off. My main issue is that its just abusing macros, and whilst I can kinda get behind this to just copy things that controller just cant achieve (and are just inbuilt advantages to playing mnk, mainly just talking about moving while looting and forward tap strafes), doing stuff outside of that I just think is scummy.
IMO this applies to mnk and controllers, no one really should be using macros (or configs) in order to give themselves an advantage, and I think this applies even more to controller, as they already have aim assist. I still think that a forward tap strafe macro for controller is fine, but outside of that it just doesnt seem fair, and is just abusing macros.
To be fair if you don't set your right stick to joystick mouse you can't really look around and aim without it buggin out and making the mode shift work when it wants to so my mode shift turns left stick to wasd and right stick to joystick mouse effectively disabling aim assist for about half a second after the modeshift is done, not arguing weather or not it's scummy just pointing out for it to work at 100% efficiency disables aim assist for a bit
@@R3APER-350xx A few things with this. Firstly my overall point is that you get all of this movement, which in this case is just stronger (and far easier) than what you can do with mnk (and only because of macro abuse), and you still get to have aim assist almost the entire time that you are playing. You also wont be in that state for long (as its only while you input the tap strafe) so your lack of aim assist is only very short lived, and its also not like you cant shoot, you are just no longer having something help you out aiming, so its not even like you wont do damage while doing this, you just cant beam as hard as you usually can (and again its just for the short time you input the tap strafe).
Finally when you do a usual forward tap strafe, in order to use it you also have to turn your view to look elsewhere, and so you wont really be shooting much anyway (the majority of the time). This lack of aim assist is only really an issue when doing these side and back tap strafes, which is what I dont think should be allowed anyway, and is the tech not really possible on mnk (im again ignoring lurch strafes (movement keys in combination with a forward tap strafe, which kinda replicates this), as they are far far more complicated and advanced, and only a very small minority of mnk players will be able to do them).
@@bpnik didn't say it wasn't scummy was just pointing out that it does disable your aim assist for a bit in order to make full use of it effectively, after playing with it for a couple weeks I've had my fun but it's a bit much and I can't really make use of it competitively, probably just gunna go back to using my double pedal with scroll wheel up set to each side (only set to like 10 so I gotta tap each side a few times for it to really work) for forward momentum shifts and wall bouncing over small ledges

I always used left stick click to sprint. do you guys just use auto sprint?? It'll probably take some getting used to but idk how else to do it.
Yeah auto-sprint enables a lot of nutty movement stuff. Also reduces wear and tear on your sticks. It’s really a lot better to have it on. Even KBM uses auto-sprint. There’s really no reason to slow walk in this game so auto-sprint just prevents you from having to do an extra step to go fast. You’ll get used to it. You click the stick unnecessarily a lot at first, but eventually you’ll just stop.

@@idkvwad I set my controller settings to custom, copied everything from default but changed zoom from left stick to right stick. Felt awkward for awhile but I got used to it. So, turning on auto sprint, turning off double click left stick to sprint and setting right stick as zoom should help out..

you must have set it up wrong, it shouldnt effect your right stick only your left, unless you melee with L3?
