    Thank you for these videos! I'm saving to make a single new rig for both electric and acoustic, and I'm narrowing down to the Ampero Stomp, Valeton GP 200, or NUX MP-30 as the heart of it. These videos really help and also make it tougher, because each have pros and cons and seem to be good units in their own right. It's great to have such detailed and thoughtful tests and critiques of each.

      Hi, this is a great idea!...I don't know how to do it....but it is a great idea...👍

  • @HandreyAlex
    @HandreyAlex ปีที่แล้ว

    I think when effects start being added into the chain, even if it's just one, the algorithm makes some kind of buffer. Sorta like an empty room to put all the effects in. I guess that's why there's quite a high jump after adding a wah and a TS (which are fairly simple in terms of sound manipulation) but not so much after adding delay and reverb.
    Anyway, thank you very much for the very thorough test! I was looking for latency info on Hotone Jogg (on their website they just said very low lol) before I stumbled across this video. I guess the Jogg will have more or less the same performance? When loading their own Vstomp, at least.

    Great video. Is there any way you could also do a latency test between switching patches. I used to have an old digitech rp3 and the main think i hated was the split second of silence when changing patches which is why I moved to separate pedals. Now that the technology has improved i'm looking at a Hotone Ampero stomp but i'm concerned that there may be too much latency between switching patches. Keep up the great work as your gear videos are probably some of the most detailed and informative on youtube.

      @@LeoGibsonGtr hi. One way you could do it would be to play a chord, record it, switch patches and then measure the dropout using a daw.

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that's correct. I need to figure out how to make in a clever way the comparison with other units, for instance choosing the same amps or effects in the presets A and B, taking into consideration that some units has scenes / snapshots, etc.

  • @CL_Audio_Tuning

    Leo! Great video as always, i actally am now considering an Ampero unit and i have been looking at their features and this raises the queation, when using a custom IR how better or different is the Mic placement option, is the unit showing less latency because a custom IR is not as processed as the built in emulation, or it simply might be coded to run through less converson or internal 'tweaking' than the built in stuff? I wonder why its so significantly less. Thanks for the content as always!

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, I'm really happy that you like the video!
      The cabinet section in the Ampero is well done, with the possibility to place the mic across the cab, etc....it's one of the best in terms of features. All these possibilities require processing power. With the IR you can change the mic type, the mic position etc...it's much easier to process. That's why, probability, the IR requires less processing power and therefore the latency is lower.
      Thank you!

    Hi Hotone has released a new version of the Ampero II stomp firmware, they release even a new version of the USB driver. it's seems that now you can choose higher frequency for sample rate. Latency, the ability to shot down all cabs modeling in one operation, and sample rate are 3 things that avoid me to buy the Ampero II stomp. Can i ask a video, even a short video, for this update. Thank you so much for your invaluable work.

    Hi Leo, I ordered the Ampero yesterday and I am curious if the thing works better using a separate audio interface or would it be better to just use the Ampero as its own audio interface? What are your thoughts, and which is much better for latency? Thanks I love your channel

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dustin, pretty complex question. How would you connect the Audio interface with the Ampero?
      I would say that it depends from the connections you are gonna do. Generally speaking, it is better to use the Ampero as an audio interface. in this way you perform the AD conversion only once and you use the Ampero for monitoring....
      But, as I say, it depends from the connection you want to do.
      Thank you!

    So can someone tell me... If I just use it for basic effects, compression, delay, Tremolo, phaser and reverb with my analog tube preamp (with its own cabsim) in the loop, what kinda latency would I expect? Cheers :)

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, the cab block is the one that takes more processing power, therefore if you don't use it, you should have a better latency. Nonetheless, if your preamp has a cabsim, it means that it has some A D A conversion (unless the cab sim is all analog, but it's very rare), and therefore it is adding latency...therefore it depends on how much latency time is introducing your preamp.
      Thank you for your question!
