    This garment is heavily underrated. It’s elegant and warm and classic. Btw, I still don’t believe you do not script your video; the delivery is so natural and well thought out.

      The Shawl cardigan is a classic garment for the ages for sure. I do not script the videos as such, I do jot down some ideas for what to say, but nothing specific. I do aim to be as natural as possible. Hope you enjoy.

    Love my SCC, didn't get into them until covid lockdowns and got my first one... wore it every day around the house. Still wear it a lot now that things have gone back to that new "normal". Picked up 2 more over. Absolutely great and underrated garment.

    I have the brig in black and it’s amazing. It’s basically a bomber jacket (versatile). Works so well under a blazer or on its own, buttoned or unbuttoned. Very well made.

    Just bought a beauty of a shawl collar cardigan by Dehen. It's made from worsted wool. Heavy, warm, and great looking. Have added North Sea Clothing to my watch list. Thank you for bringing them to my attention. I'm not a minimalist when it comes to clothing but over the last few years, I'm buying less but buying quality pieces. The search for these companies and items is really fun.

      You have arrived at my ethos totally, less stuff - but better stuff is my aim too. Gone are the days of budget clothing for me, it looks poor, degrades the planet and lasts only a short time. I'm delighted with this exceptional garments(s) from NSC, a brand which is certainly a go-to for my future requirements.

    I just bought one and saved 10% with your promo code which covers the shipping cost to the USA. This is all after spending a year searching for a great cardigan and I learned about this company from subscribing to your channel.
    Thank you.
    P.S. I am also a new adept to the world of fountain pens and I just rehabilitated a family heirloom Waterman Ideal 18k gold fountain pen which is engraved with the name of my Grandmother as I was pleased to discover!
    Cheers!

    This is what I've been looking for for quite some time. I will look at this brand. Have a look at the Aran cardigans.Traditional rugged and warm. Beautiful as well.

    Glad I found this one Ash as I'm in the market for a shawl collar cardy good advice as usual.
    On the note of British manufactured garments I was shocked to find that a Belstaff jacket that I bought from the official website last week is not what it seemed. I've wanted a Belstaff wax jacket for years and was overjoyed to find the one I wanted in the sale and its great to know that they are now British made again...or so I thought! Even though ENIOS the new owners make a big thing about Belstaff being British owned and made I was shocked to find that the jacket is made in Albania even though the jacket has the union jack tab on the pocket and England on all the buttons.
    I've actually contacted Belstaff and to say they were shady about where their wax jackets are made was an understatement. I've realised that you have to be very carefull believing the "made in Britain" tag these days.
    Mark.

    I’ve got a shawl collar cardigan from Orvis. Great item. Very warm and stylish. Bordering on being both a layer and outerwear makes is incredibly versatile. I’ve even layered mine with a v-neck jumper.

    I have a couple. One big heavy one made by a company in Ireland and the second a nice merino and cashmere blend from John Lewis. The former is my lounge about the house option whilst the latter is my special occasion one 🤣

    I wanted to buy the navy shawl collar cardigan but it wasn't in stock. I ordered the engineer cardigan recently because the shawl collar wasn't in stock. I waited a year for the shawl collar to be back in stock. But I really like the engineer cardigan. Today I ordered the navy shawl collar cardigan and looking forward to receiving it.

      When exactly did you buy your new one?
      I noticed that during these times lots of brands offer what I would call "corona-quality" especially when it comes to clothes made from wool or cashmere because there you can cheat the most.

    I like it. It really speaks of elegance and well put together. a timeless classic.
    Do you have a video OR could you do a video about getting the proper measurements. ?
    Do you go to a tailor and write down all your sizes/measurements. Do you have any tips for doing it yourself with a tailor's tape?
    This would keep me warm in our Cold Canadian Winters.

    • @TheChapsGuide
      @TheChapsGuide  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It would indeed work wonders for your climate. You make a valid point about sizing your garments carefully. I know my own measurements and generally make sure I understand how the potential purchase garment will fit (they usually indicate if they fit true to size, larger or smaller). When buying with reputable online retailers like the one in this video, it is of course possible order more than one size and return the ones (or all) if the fit is not as required. I did this in this video and returned the 2 other cardigans I had trialled prior to selecting the North Sea Clothing option. But I will give some thought to a video explaining the options - thanks for the suggestion

    I came here after the recent Submariner sweater review. I has wondering why the shawl collar cardigans on the website don't have the button and loop to close the shawl collar for additional warmth, which is something I've never been able to find here in the States.
    Now I realize yours is the Expedition Cardigan, while on the North Sea Clothing website, they only have the Explorer Cardigan currently.

    • @TheChapsGuide
      @TheChapsGuide  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Excellent visual skills sir. I just checked and it appears that the expedition version has been superseded by this new explorer model. I purchased 2 expedition cardigans in 2020 and both have the additional loop and button fastening that allows the garment to be synched at the neck, which is an excellent feature and one that I use often.
      Apologies for saying explorer in the video, I did not realise the models had been changed since 2020.

    Great video. New to the channel but already a big fan. I've always liked this style of cardigan but its uncomfortable with any kind of outerwear. Would have been great if you covered this aspect.

    • @TheChapsGuide
      @TheChapsGuide  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree, the asymmetric collar does not lend itself well to layering under an overcoat, etc. I generally reserve these for office/household wear, or when it will be worn as the principle garment (as outerwear). But, this North Sea Clothing model has the extra button-up facility within the collar and this does make it more versatile. I have worn it under me Crombie quire a few times now.

  • @verykeen2please

    the "shawl collared cardigan" is a bit of tongue twister and well practised during your video This a new brand for me, added to my made in UK supplier list, thanks. It would have been interesting for a review of the other brands you considered in your normal polite chaps way

    • @TheChapsGuide
      @TheChapsGuide  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't want to imply that the other brands were less good, but it was more about North Sea Clothing being exceptional, that's why I omitted their details (but the others were Peregrine Clothing and Peter Christian).

      @@TheChapsGuide Ash thanks for the information I have bought from Peregrine and just ordered an overskirt in their sale PC seems to have a mix of UK and non UK made products I was so impressed with North Sea i too, placed an order (Grey) and with the sale and discount code, it was very reasonable Thanks again

    Do you find that quality clothes are usually best taken to a dry cleaners rather than washing and ironing at home?

    • @TheChapsGuide
      @TheChapsGuide  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say definitely when it comes to higher quality items life suits and woolens - but only when absolutely required. Over cleaning items can really shorten the lives of many garments.
