The husband whose wife died in marbles wanted to leave the game because he will earn money without having to complete the game. Remember the 3rd rule that if the game is ended via majority voting, the next of kin of deceased will receive money. Whether he beat his wife in the marbles game or she self-sacrifice herself for her husband (because he would have a better chance at winning), we don't know. Both are plausible.
That might have been a secondary motivator, but definitely wasn't the main reason he wanted to end the game. If it was then he wouldn't have killed himself later on and be unable to influence at all whether or not his family will get any money. I think primarily he was just distraught, and secondarily took solace in knowing that even if it ended his wife's death was not entirely in vein.

Yes, you're correct. It is rude to motion someone to come over with your palm facing upward for Koreans. That's the way a dog is called over. Motioning with the palm facing down is the Korean way. What I thought was weird was that it was an American doing it the way a Korean would.

There is no fair-and-square when it comes to survival. That's what makes these games so jarring: games are MEANT to be fair, with set rules. Survival, however, does not come down to fairness. It comes down to do whatever you must to live.
They are experienced actors who act in Korea for a long time but there are rarely English speakers in the staff who translate from Korean to English, they even use Google Translate sometimes so the dialogues lack fluidity and don’t sound natural. They also explained that they were not given the full script of the episode, so without context it was difficult for them to understand the tone of the show. They just knew that their characters were “millionaire idiots”. Finally, they said they wore heavy plaster masks, sitting on sofas 6-8 meters away from the others so they had to shout their lines in the air so it sounds weird. Some of these actors suffer from depression because of the hate from all around the world.

He hesitates to pick up the phone this episode because the cop used the phone and put it back in a different direction therefore it was different than when we last put it down so he knows someone has touched it besides him. i try to give the english actors the benefit of the doubt in foreign films. this show was designed for a korean audience, where english is usually a second or third language, so the american characters are given simple, plain english lines that are easy to translate. theyre also probably directed to speak in that stilted, over enunciated way because its easier to understand.
