I was born in Watford in the 50s and lived there until 1995. It used to be a very nice market town until ' progress ' came along and changed the face of the town. It had some great Cinemas, Odean, Gaumont, Essoldo, Carlton etc, and many historic pubs. I got my first saturday job in Caters supermarket which became the Top Rank night club and got my first real job in an advertising agency on the Parade next to the fire station. The town had proper big shops like Trewins, Clements, Cawdells and Wrens among others. I returned there recently , the traffic was horrendous, and it took me an hour to travel from Bushey to Watford General Hospital, [ 2-3 miles ], but thats progress !
The building that was Top Rank (subsequently Baileys) shut for the final time last night , I was going there when it was Kudos/Destiny in the early 90’s .Iceland (formerly Bejam) went in October . No doubt more flats going up there instead , like the massive estate currently being built by the junction . The Garston bus garage opposite where the Hertfordshire Arms used to be has been levelled - surprise surprise - for more flats . The town’s going to be permanently gridlocked but what do the lib-dems care as long as the brown envelopes from the developers keep flowing - I used to live in Bushey , just by where the British Legion was on Melbourne Road :)
Cheers. I was born in a prefab in Watford in 1966. The only thing I remember is the rspca dog outside the charity shop but it must be a different dog and probably a different shop. You never know though. Moved away from watford aged 8.
Hi its about 20.1 miles from central London. For Rover tickets it best to check national rail for latest prices or buy oyster card which covers zone 8 and use London overground to Watford.
Yes. Is a Town like any town. Its on the outskirts of Greater London. Its in the London public transport fare Zone. You can use oyster card to get to it.
Yep it’s in Hertfordshire , winds me up when I hear people says its part of London , mind you it doesn’t help that Warner Bros named the Harry Potter Tour “Studio Tour London” . Their excuse was “Studio Tour Watford hasn’t got the same global appeal” , suppose I can’t make them wrong on that one 😄

Thanks for the comment. I am glad you like it. It’s a great little town :-)
How did you manage to pass the entrances of one of the uks largest indoor shopping centres with hundreds of stores? You only did half the town centre.
Hi
Not really. Some shopping centres/ Malls don’t allow photography/filming. Was not allowed by security to film.

Watford isn’t in London.
It is, as stated, a town north-west of London.
