Poor Gyle talking about disappointment in January. He has no idea
Kibitz!!
Still beats TABS scenario :D :D
it was chilling hearing him say "didn't expect to still be alive in 2020" .....
46:10 This battle is a really bad example of SACUs being over-powered.
Team 1 has 14 T3 tanks and 18 T3 shields in that group.
Team 2 has 23 Rambo-preset SACUs assaulting in the area.
So...
Team 1 has 24,720 mass and 249,600 power invested in those units.
Team 2 has 138,000 mass and 4,919,700 energy invested into those Rambo SACUs.
Any time you invest ~5.6x more mass and ~20x more power than your opponent, you had better win decisively. Even if we only consider the 12-ish SACUs that are actually firing at that group, white still invested 3x the mass and 10x the power in that engagement. Because they are Rambo presets, they are also not generating significant resources. I do agree that SACUs are probably too cheap for what they can do, but a nerf would have to be done carefully. A simple cost increase would probably be the best solution.
I think an interesting way to balance them would be to give them a constant energy drain, say -1000 power. They could still be upgraded with resource allocation, but that would only increase their mass output. If you aren't able to power them, they would vanish (gate out). This would make power snipes even more critical and allow for more dynamic, exciting plays.
Your also forgetting that until the last minutes of the game there was no air to speak of. With no t3 bombers to snipe off the SACU's they can seem to be overpowered because against ground units they are strong as fuck. A few of the skirmishes would have been completely changed with a shift G attack.
@@nickcrispino6575 Also true. Nukes are also *very* cost effective in wiping out big groups of forward SACUs. SACUs are powerful, but this game just had everything stacked in their favor.
Nuke point defence trumps all, unless it's megalith spam. Now that! Is op XD
Could just make 'em the same sort of investment as a commander. Make their armor and engineering a 3-tier upgrade tree... and make the initial gate in cheaper.
Give stun effect to aeon SACU so no 400 regen per second while opponent SACU gets stunned in that half or one second. It will have some meaning as aeon acu has chrono which stuns too.
"Stampeding through the local ecology like an australian arsonist". Nice commentary.
I got a laugh. Although no major fires were caused by arson. Funny none the less.
Wife: What'cha watching?
Me: Just some Gyle:
Gyle: @25:20

ahh, yes, PokeMeNow, receiving a full penetrating load from the Kink Hammer
Weird game with almost total absence of air.
Yeah pretty bizarre, especially weird that they both went for the same support commander strat at about the same time.
@@RiffRaffish Yep, some t3 gunships would would completely stopped the SACU spam in its tracks.
@@Juggernautdemon Eh, but by then they could spam some t3 mobile AA or have the sACU's spam down some static AA as they go, much more efficiently then you could spam gunships.
Strats would be even more expensive, but might work if you can combine them with something else as a distraction.
@@edisontrent618 Well realistically, all they had to do was spam t3 land, but the original comment was discussing air, and gunships could have been used to counter the SACU spam for a bit.
Apparently the air players made a pact to make SACUs instead of air.
Kinda stupid, Bennis ragequit because of it.
Watched hundreds of hours of your videos and finally got SupCom. Running the campaigns and then will likely join FAF
I'd actually recommend trying FAF even for the campaigns. They have a 'coop campaign' game mode that upgrades the campaign maps a bit and allows you to use mods in the missions without any additional work. It's pretty cool, check it out!
@ChypnotiC Pl i played them all.
They work!
D n A ahh same bro. I first started playing SupCom on 360 but it was unplayable but still was my fav game. Just got a PC last weekend and it was the firstttt thing I downloaded !!
@@pHixiq Welcome to FAF. 😊
hey can i know why it seem FAF is more popular than SupComm2? just considering weather to only by up to faf or supcomm2 as well. thanks if you reply.
there are just SO MANY people giving up too early on FAF, this is an actual problem they are throwing games for everyone...
Which I just don't understand, based on the matches that I've watched. The game allows for such a vast array of potential strategies and tactics it's almost always possible to make a comeback.
@@samg.5165 it's rarely possible to make a comeback, and the pro players know when that line has been crossed. I agree though, quitting early rather than tanking for the team is a douchebag move
Combat SACUS are so expensive though! You need a quantum Gateway and a lot of mass and buildpower to afford them. The whole point is that they have combat utility, they can put up shields and pd.
They're not as good in combat as their mass-equivalent in t3 units or experimentals, not once you count the gateway.
Bennis is bennis, he isn’t anyone else
The game took a huge turn at 52:00
Why was there a 40 min picture at the end😂
For a new decade for FaF!
Those OGW guys seem a bit too toxic to have in a good, sporty community game...
So awesome! I finally installed windows on my mac just to play this. Download the client as well! Awesome!

The Venn diagram between danger and despair.
I can't believe my ears, well done!!!
the sacu issue isnt real. any real air presence would of kept them at bay. alternatively, if the other t4s had not been playing with titans.
great Video-Commentary again. Like always
I personally think that it's not so much the Support commanders themselves that are OP, but the pre-sets. If you had to split your build power to upgrade SACUs it would slow the critical mass that they would eventually get. I don't remember SACUs being spammed quite as much as they are these days before the pre-sets.
Where you ever able to determine if leaving the space at the end negatively impacts your retention rate?
I doubt it, It's a dying game and this is one of the only places we can come to see it.
@@MrSnakekaplan dying pretty damn slow to be fair
I don't think its about user retention. I think he just does it so people don't know when its actually gonna end, people are on edge until the end
@@kieranbasham2678 Right, that is the reason why he does it. Months back he was a bit concerned it might negatively impact his metrics with TH-cam because people would not technically finish his videos.
@@MrSnakekaplan It's not dying, player numbers are through the roof.
That personal shield was just simply shot down by the units
Yes and no. It was manually disabled as well, you could see the red icon on the ACU. That's why you didn't see the shield bar AT ALL when he died, it wasn't even recharging.
28:12 the shield was nearly shot down, but also turned powerless as it was about to collapse

Amazing! TY
That was like 2 mavors worth of sacu's
Support commanders are not op. A tiny band of T3 gunships would have wiped them off the map. As you said in the end “it’s about unit diversity” . Team 1 simply forgot about it and so they lost..
Just what I needed before I go into work today. Thank you
Honestly, if this took place in a red desert, and you zoom out far enough, you would think it's the battle of geonosis considering how many lasers there are
honestly if they had invested the mass, that was thrown into that amount of SACUs, into anything else, for example air, this game would have been over after 20 minutes. The thing about support commanders is, is that either you go ras for eco, which is less efficent then simply building mass fabs or you go rambo for dmg, which gets outclassed by a T4 with the same mass value.
Agreed. The Rambo SACU is probably the best at stacking out of all of them, due to its crazy range and how all of them regen at once, but once they hit the point of producing one every 10 seconds, ANYTHING would have worked. I'm thinking about how many Bugs that could have been, or how many Corsairs.
What needed to happen this game, was for the other players to go "huh, where's our air support?" and start building their own as soon as they realized they'd been betrayed by their air players.
Gyle always makes Friday better. Much love from USA
What are each factions pros and cons?
I can't really tell. I'm trying to play to their strengths.
Is one faction more of a, idk, hit and run type? Tanky? Middle ground? Best air Force? Best defences? Etc.
Hit and run would be Cybran because of the stealth many units have. UEF is the faction that's the best at turtling up and usually the best pick for any long, drawn out battle and base wars. Aeon used to be the best at air but somehow got out of fashion, I don't know why, all those small changes seem to have accumulated too much. Aeon also has lots of floating units. So, along with air it's a very mobile faction. And Sera ... well, they don't really have anything special for them going, but can still be strong due to certain very strong key units.
But all in all, the factions aren't as different as factions are in other games. It's all about the details like some cybran anti-air units being capable to switch to ground targets or aeon torpedoes actually being depth charges (so enemy anit-torpedo doesn't work on them). The lower the tech level, the more similar the units are. And I think this is one of the reasons why this game is so good and still enjoyable aber so many years - it means that every faction starts out on more or less equal footing, faction diversity comes into play the longer the game goes. This means you can use all sorts of strategies. In other games, where factions differ very much and early on, you don't have much choice - your playsytle is set in stone from the get-go.
@@Puschit1
Thank you, this actually really helps. I've done some more research and figured out that UEF fits my okay style. Thank you again. :)
Those support commanders are also very expensive. 3 of those upgraded combat presets cost as much as an experimental. And ecowise the supcoms are way worse than just building massfabs and pgens but they don't need space and can serve as build power. So it is pretty balanced.
Here's to another 10 years of soupcan!
Where can I find those maps? I really want them
The t1 spam is not generally a killer move, but a poke at the defences to see where they are weakest, then strike there. Common tactic in seige warfare to simply throw men to their deaths to see where there might be a weakpoint to concentrate on.
I love the salt at the end.
I think there is a simple way to nerf sacus. Just increase the damage of the death nuke, so you can't ball them up. If like the damage is as high as killing like 3 or so of them, chains the ball, they aren't an I win button anymore. To not make the ras one a complete bomb, maybe increase the death damage with the nano and gun upgrade (and the other combat upgrades).
Also if you compare them to the price they are not so over powered. For example for 4-5 Cybran Rambos you get a monkeyloard built. There stun is strong, but they dps is quite low for the price. At one point LetMeCankles overcharged one of them and it did went into the read in an instand. If you want to fight them you do so with experimentals, the stun doesn't work there, or with sniper bot or other unit that outrange them.
I mostly think that in many games that I have seen, they are not countered very well and when they pile up they will reach a critical point like experimentals do, where it is really hard to stop them.
Problem with that is then people would teleport in or rush in suicide SACU's as they would work as mobile Nukes.
As we saw though, SACUs can just spam up tac defense. Gyle didn't catch this but when the billy nuke "disappears" you can clearly see 4 tac defense right in the middle of the SACUs. If the first billy had gone for the SACUs maybe it would have landed, but they knew it was coming and had sufficient numbers to spam the tac defense before it even got there.
"turtleman reported for throwing the game" XD
What does adaptive mean?
Can you change colors on players? Its kind of hard to follow. Maybe give one team warm colors and the other cold, or saturated vs unsaturated?
The entire game was spent building a single unit by what usually is an air support com.
Whee Ed n you bank up that many resources into hard shells unhindered unaccounted and walk it across a map totally un harassed.
Yeah, the investment better damned well pay off. It’s equivalent cost in experimentals would have been even more devastating.
Love the videos!!!! Why is the video always so long even though you stopped recording?
Pretty sure it's used to mask the length of the game so you don't get an idea of when the battle is about to be won.
@@iwishforducks Hmmm didn't think of that. Good point.
The billy isn't a nuke, Gyle - it's a flashbang, blinding you to what's going on anywhere else on the map :))
Thank you Gyle. We missed you
Wow epic_bennis just straight up disregarding his allies base with that ctrl k
Looks like deathwolf and kungfu made a pact not to build air, that's kinda lame...
SACU pre-sets are op
Hey Gyle! Have a question I’ve wanted to ask for years. With all the different colors people choose, do you just know the specific names by heart? Like “elephantine grey” and stuff like that? Always been a little thing you do that I really enjoy :)
Support commanders are strong in a way, yes. But it takes alot of time or alot of ressources to build them. additionally, you need that rift to get them. And they are vulnerable to some special units. And: What? video ends in the middle of the actual length? :X
Ah guys! Is the copy client of Supreme commander FAF safe????
I mean, doesn't have unwanted applications and doesn't slow down the device?
I detected in virustotal
I'd love to see a cast of some FFA or Diplomacy games, if possible. The unpredictability of those games tends to be a lot of fun.
28:30 your shield didn't turn off bruh, it got annihilated in about ten seconds. You walked head first into a horde of sniper bots. The second you started walking towards them instead of running away like you should have you were already dead.
On Support Commanders... why not give them huge penalties when they specialize. If they are upgraded towards resource, then have them take a huge penalty to def/Attack. Like wise if they are upgraded for def/attack have them require larger amounts of energy and even some mass (as they make their own ammo). Something along these lines.
Mass to mass, SACUs lose to t3 units. All they had to do to counter the SACUs was spam out t3, instead they were busy spamming out t1 land and the occasional exp and t3. Especially sniper bots, they hard counter SACUs.
it's not a specialisation, it's an upgrade ... so nerfing the other stats makes no sense. Also, mass to mass, easliy countered by T3, T2 arty, air, etc, etc
Dreadlord Scorp Exactly, Gyle doesn’t have much experience with the game, so it’s understandable, but usually it’s not worth spamming out Rambo SACUs because it’s a waste of mass.
There are no winners when you play with OGW, only memes.
Why is there 40 minutes of nothing tacked on at the end?
It avoids spoiling the end of the game by hiding the game's length.
The extra time is added not to spoil when the video ends and hence who wins or loses.
Rhianne Moll - That makes a lot of sense. I thought it was a really really long battle lol
Maybe just no RAS for SACUs?
Epic Bennis is Epic Bennis
Surely 2-3 chickens would smash a big group of rambo SCU's? Lots of AOE is what you need
Starring Epic Bennis as Epic Bennis.
Happy new year Gyle!
The combination of 400 regen per sec and stun on cyb sacu is op, but maybe sera sacu can deal with it with oc. Also 400 regen and build upgrade makes them pretty annoying when opponent tries harms creep in naval fights.
Maybe make SCU cost a lot more unit cap ?
That wouldn't make sense from a lore perspective, if anything, they should increase the cap, since you get actual humans (or whatever the Seraphim are) to help control the battle.
Support commanders are OP but at the same time, they're tier 3, take a little while to build and every faction has access to them. In bigger games, especially on maps with poor resources, support commanders are a must.
But yeah, they are OP.
and so team 2 was the first to realise air existed.
another episode of watching dots on a screen
do you have a discord?
the rambos need a counter. thats all. but atm there is no real counter to rambo coms but more rambos of your own
They're weak to air. But the two air players had some kind of no-T3-air pact going on.
@@Ch4grin true. but a land counter would still be nice
many sacus can be countered with something with range. sniper bots work best in my limited opinion, so mayby build lots of those in that situation.
think you want to take 1 sacu out per volly of sniper fire, so do some math to calculate how much you ll need :)
KurzeLunte Rambo SACUs cost a lot of mass, the same amount of mass in t3 land units easily counters them
They are weak to uef percivals, cybran experimentals, aeon and seraphim sniperbots.
Thx Gyle! Every time I see there’s a new cast from you I cheer. I wish they came more often.
I do think the sacu is to powerful. Invent a counter to it or nerf it. Maybe limit the amount one gateway can support or make them build slower or make the unit slower or less health.
A bellynuke should almost gtake them out.
As a note to that the bellynuke looks to powerful. It is kinda weak.
But Gyle keep em Coming!! You are the best!
I'd say limit their numbers overall. The problem with the sACU isn't just its combat power, but also eco potential. There've been games where the players have basically converted their entire eco into a virtually indestructible mobile army of sACU's. How is one supposed to ever beat that, if they're spread out? Leave them as powerful as they are currently - or even make them stronger - but hard cap how many a player can have out at any one time.
Does FAF improve the AI like LOUD does?
There is a number of mods in the vault that introduce new ai's
FAF has access to Sorian AI, which is much better than vanilla AI but nothing like LOUD, LOUD is arguably a total conversion rather than an AI mod and since their AI requires the changes they've made to the economy etc. It will probably always be a totally unique experience
Thanks guys. I love the AI in LOUD compared to standard, but unfortunately with LOUD, my game starts crashing once the total number of units in the map reaches about 1500. I have to limit my opponents to 1 when I play against cheating AI (Louder) because they ignore the unit count limits and build thousands of units causing my game to crash.
@@Andy-df5fj Does it crash because of your hardware not being able to handle the load?
@@zaviaaaaa
I don't think so. I have a newer G3 gaming laptop with an i5 and a GTX 1660ti gpu. It doesn't bog down at all and I can even run it at up to +5 speed at around the time it starts becoming crash prone. although once it gets to that point it will crash every couple of minutes even if I run it at a slower speed. I've also run the game on an older i7 laptop with the same issues, although on that machine it does get bogged down by that time. It might be my style of play. I like to turtle and see if the AIs can break through. Without me attacking them, they build a lot of units.
40 minutes of dead air at the end seems a little excessive even for the purposes of mystery
SACU is fine, they are very expansive. I don't like they gives eco but everything eles is fine
The issue with Sacu is that they just need to ramp up their reactor meltdown power. I swear their volatility is weaker than a tac missile.
Yeah, it does seem it would make sense for their explosion to do more damage to those around them. Considering they are basically just ACUs with slightly less potential, their lack of proper explosion is unfortunate.
I'm not going to argue they should go full nuclear, but if it were a bad idea to keep 10-20 SACUs close together without the risk of a chain reaction, I could see them being used more sparingly. Essentially as support units to add a bit of punch to an assault, or rapidly build defenses, or assist in building high-level units while hiding in the back. Which seems to be what they are meant to do - not be front-line combat units.
Though there are definitely counters, such as air, artillery, and experimental spam. Long-ranged experimental units will annihilate SACUs most of the time as far as I can tell for an equivalent cost, though it's a bit tough vs regular T3 units.
Game 1 hour and 31 minutes:
Me: this is some long game I've been looking for.
Game not lasting more than 50 minutes:
My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.
I've been hiding spoilers in that message extension.
Drop support commander hp? Seems like the easiest solution
Did you all not just watch He is a sheep lover with gyle 3-6 times?? I did 05:38
No on SCU nerf. They aren't that OP just think of the SCU squad as another experimental.
awesome match, love these high pop matches cause they are so chaotic :D
God i hope anyone throwing out slurs and wishing on people's deaths was banned from FAF forever. wtf.
It doesn't ruin the cast though, Im glad you still cast even if some of the players are horrible people.
Both teams can build SACU's.
I have no idea how they can play like this. I just...don't get it
Now that's an epic lagg :D
Someone should make videos of top fails of week
If FaF players keep increaasing we may have 10vs10 soon! 😃😃😃.... And maybe supcom 3?
"Bennis is Bennis"
Support commanders are my favorite unit in the game. I don't think they are overpowered; it is not fair saying they are just form replays. Try playing with them and then tell me how overpowered they are.
Anyone else catch the shit talk between LetMeCankles and TheRussiansDidIt from 50:28 to 50:50? I'm normally the one defending internet free speech, but damn those guys are taking the game way too seriously for that level of 4chan banter.
"The Russians Did it" "The Iranians did it". Let's not jump to a new 'hostile nation' each month and just still with the classic, and true, "The US Government Did it."
Even if you think scu's are broken, I'd still rather see it than mass nuke spam.
Nice cast as always, but please cut the video at the end. :)
It's an anti Spoiler Measure. It doesn't really matter in my opinion.
Yeah, it doesn't REALLY matter, but it's just unnecessary.
@@ColonelHusky okay idiot
I'll cut you some slack, only because you are the best👌
He's still right about what a disappointment 2020 has been!
I was hoping for more nukes from both bottom yellow and white
Buffing the SACU's on basis of the last game its SCU-spam isn't a good reason if you ask me. Firstly: air players in both teams went SACU spam instead of t3 air. As already said before there: if one of the players went normal t3 air, the SACU-spam of the other could have been easily been repelled with t3 bombers, gunships and ASF for cover. Secondly, this would be the same as saying: "well SML is so deadly and destructive, let's just buff it so that it does not kill a player's ACU anymore". But hey, the game has a thing called SMD to repel an eventual nuke attack/rush right? So no buffing needed. Not with SACU's not with SML's: you just need to build the right stuff and scout well so that you can repel the attack at the right moment. Else this game will become really predictable and boring. As a wise man once said: "But problems, and this is my experience, problems that are left unattended, have a habit of becoming crises." - The King (movie, 2019)
When megalith's build units.... they Shit Bricks
Easy fix: Drop SACUs HP by 50%, this shit is ridiculous.
Deathwolf is a potato. Had nothing to save his teammates on the left and then if he just had 10 T2 gunships then cups would be dead early game and then team 1 would have had a good chance to win. Sad.
все эти касты уже юрий зе профешинал выпустил

just got to find the right ones to play with
TheRussiansDidIt... Or so the Germans would have us believe
Bennis did CtrlK because of the support commander bullshit. It ruins games nowadays on bigger maps because it just turns into a "who can build more rambo acu war"
Sorry, Gyle, but this really wasn't one of your better videos. For one thing, can it really be called average joes when so many players are above 1600, including one who is 2000? Second, The video itself ends halfway but stays on the last frame for another half an hour. Also, I normally enjoy the 8v8 because of the insanely intense battles due to the number of players, but this just wasn't any contest. I know you say you skim through the videos before deciding to cast, and I feel like this one was just a poor choice to go with due to how imbalanced it ended up being.
Still definitely enjoying your content and I absolutely look forward to future videos, I just wanted to leave a bit of feedback on this one.
"Russians did it" yes of course.. 🇷🇺💪
