Some of the best Superman stories ever told have been told in the pages of Action Comics. Now with Action Comics entering a new era with "Rebirth," the moment seemed right to revisit some of them with DC All Access' list of the Top 10 issues of Action Comics of All Time!

I was a big fan of the New 52's Action Comics #1 - in fact, I loved pretty much all of Grant Morrison's run. It's especially fun to re-read, as some of the... odder issues make much more sense in the context of the wider story.

Although the movie itself and the DCEU is dark, Superman as a character is still fundamentally the same, the whole point of the movie was him trying to prove the world (and Batman wrong). Also a lot of the New 52 sucks but there was a lot of beneficial stuff as well. Scott Snyder's Batman run, Geoff Johns' JL run, Grant Morrison's run on action comics Brian Azzarello's Wonder Woman run (even if the revised origin might be controversial) etc.
+hauser1970 Not everything was bad in it. Geoff John Aquaman run was good. Wonder Woman was good. The Flash was good except Wally West parts. Batman was legendary the entire run of new 52. Deathstroke was cool.

Because a lot of people like Batman, a mere man who brushes shoulders with powerful beings like Superman and Wonder Woman. What's wrong with that?
It makes no sense that #1 isn't #1 in the countdown,cause without that issue we don't have any of the others.
But that doesn't make it the best issue. Have you even read it? It's alright for late 1930s, but is nowhere near the best one.

Action 766 DOA by Joe Kelly is a fav because it came before the Superman/Batman. It shows the difference between Superman and Batman. Their skills/powers, and most importantly, the power of love.
775 has been my favorite comic since it was first released. Good call!

Bump out one of the Post-Crisis issues and put in Action Comics #300. One of the greatest stories and covers in the history of the book.

I might take issue with some of the numbering, but, all in all, that's a pretty good list. There are a few other issues I think deserve consideration. I'm a little surprised that nothing from Lex Luthor's Black Ring saga made it to the list. Especially issue #894 when Death of the Endless from Sandman made a cameo. I also would've added the conclusion of Grant Morrison's run with Vol. 2 #18, but I guess you don't want to add too much from one creator on a single list and the President Superman story was a good pick. I would've also loved to see Action Comics #761 where Superman and Wonder Woman are trapped in Valhalla fighting demons for a thousand years. In my opinion, that's the greatest Superman/Wonder Woman story ever. Personally, I'm a big Silver Age fan so if I made this list it would've contained oddball picks like Action Comics #243 where Supes was transformed into a lion-man, but I'm probably one of a very small group of people who appreciate those stories. DC made a pretty decent list, though, and I'm excited that we'll be getting Action Comics #1,000 soon.

#3 is "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?" and it ends with Superman killing [REDACTED], and he is so horrified by what he did that he outright quits being Superman by depowering himself with Gold Kriptonite.
#1 is "What's So Funny About Truth, Justice & the American Way?", the message of which is: SUPERMAN DOESN'T KILL!!!

Warner Brothers was more to blame. They made Zack put more attention on Batman because they loved Bens performance.

+Dr. Death Ironically enough Superman Returns had a better rating at 76% than MOS 56%. Yet I feel more people enjoyed & were more open minded about MOS especially the Superman fans. Now if we want to talk Donner verse his first 2 were 90% & above.
KON- EL so what two of them are 20 years ago? they tried two reabot after those and two of them has bad ratting.. you like it or not most of the superman movies are floped critically .. this is probably the main reason why the put less superman and kill him in his seccond movie..

I wonder if Zack Snyder read #1...? That should of been the basis for a new superman movie.
+Larry J That's biggest problem with Snyder is that it contradicts one of the best modern superman stories. He did a tad better in batman v superman, but it still had allot of problems. To be fair I had issues with the 70's and 80's movies too, but that might just be because I grew up with post crisis superman and not pre crisis.
I have a # 4 no1 1938 June is it worth anything now.

You don't see anyone protesting that the cavemen snooze fest is the greatest Doctor Who story ever told just because it was the first one ever made.
