Rory is incredible. Always makes you feel the emotional weight of their songs.
My father passed away, from a short battle with a very aggressive cancer, not too long after this album came out, and it amazes me that Rory was able to write, record and go on tour with this album in such a short time span. It's just All The Feels

I also recently lost, extremely suddenly with no warning, a previously healthy 15 year old cat I had raised since finding it as a kitten at a big pile of trash (i know it's not the same thing but it's still unbelievably painful). it's been hard as hell but Dark Sun has been so cathartic for me. I could only wish to be able to convey it as wonderfully as Rory does. With so many other artists it would be too on the nose but he really makes you feel the emotion he's conveying in the words - another rare gift

I was thinking the exact same thing! Nick is the most diverse singer I currently know. I saw their Ariana Grande cover the other day and I was blown away. I think Chris you should do either "Damaged" by October Ends or End Up Dead from his solo stuff

I could listen to Rory sing literally anything. He is truly gifted.
I wanted to add that Rory tends to end most of his power high notes on a sigh, and he has a very interesting and unique sigh, which you can notice even more on some of the live performances he’s done.

Rory is a vocal master, especially when it comes to dipping in and out of the "vocal break". His dynamics are amazing and add so much color to their music. Cant wait to see more Dayseeker on the channel!
Crooked Soul for me is such an amazing track, but if you're not paying attention when you sing along you can end up coughing up your tonsils.

Love Dayseeker and Rory Rodriguez! Saw them live earlier this year and they sounded phenomenal!
I think the “doubt me” towards the end is also layered with a fry scream. It’s quiet but it sounds as loud as the whisper tracks to me.
That note in the chorus you replicated was on point! as a high baritone who isnt quite a true tenor i resonated a LOT with what you were saying in this one. quality content!
Rory is incredible. At the same time don't forget his band fellows who are also awesome vocalists.

Wow! I love this song and this vocals! One of my favorites on my recent rock songs playlist (favorite of Dayseeker). So nice to see your analysis of it. (It also means my amateur judgement of vocals might not be so much off ;) )
But I wouldn't be myself if I didn't brag about Jinwook :D I have to make you check his singing, either his amazing live covers of 'Believer' or 'Shie's Gone', or more metal songs with his band Danggisio (all to be found in my playlist). I have to get him out to the world, he deserves so much more than singing ballads on some local events in Korea. His powerful high pitches are totally insane.

Love how you mention how someone who doesn't have that top end like a "true" tenor simply won't be able to hit the high notes that Rory is singing in that "chesty" register. As someone who isn't a true tenor and loves that sound, that's exactly what I needed to hear lol
mentioned this in another comment but Noah Sebastian is a good example of that. Not to cast shade on his voice, it's amazing, but when you listen to The Grey and hear him going up to that C5-D#5 in the chorus (my pitch monitor says it briefly touches E5 for a fraction of a second when i sing it but i think that's just the particulars of my voice) it's quite nasal and thin - I do think maybe perhaps that was a stylistic choice to try and convey a feeling of desperation on the subject matter

I just discovered dayseeker a few months ago and they are very underrated it sad because Rory is so talented will the whole band is talented but Rory is no joke his voice is perfect and unique I can't stop listening to there music all of it is great and relatable

Yesss been waiting for this, my bf was the one who emailed you recently about it. Rory is truly astonishing, the agility he displays, how nimble his voice is - Homesick is probably the best display, in the chorus alternating between scream and high belt with every syllable. He is without a doubt the best vocalist in the metal-adjacent scene. I'm guessing (hoping) Neon Grave will be next. As well as being another jaw dropping vocal performance, the lyrics are just a naked gut punch if you've ever lost someone dear to you. The Sirius XM live performance is the one to analyse!

Im 3 months late to the video (woops) but I just came to saw that Rory has one of the most impressive belting ranges I've heard in this genre. Matty Mullins from MMF is in this category but Rory adds just a little something extra which truly sends shivers up your back over and over.
I've seen phone videos of rory up close on stage, and he sounds even better live than on the records
his technique and tone absolutely blows my mind and im so happy that you are finally starting the dayseeker series!
As a singer for a band, i've been trying to deconstruct his distinct style, but i havent heard ANY OTHER singer in the genre that does what rory can do both live and in the studio, especially the way he dials back and integrates his break on certain words / lines / notes on Sleeptalk
im a firm believer that anyone can learn to sing, and hard work beats talent, but i think its safe to say that natural born gifted singers exist and rory is one of them

I love Dayseeker, they’re my biggest discovery this year along with Bad Omens and Rory has quickly become one of my favourite singers along with Vessel and Noah.
Rory has such an incredible range and he can bring so much emotion to a song especially to the quieter ones on Dark Sun but then just like in Neon Grave he can scream like the best of them.
One small thing, Rory is actually singing ‘How Do You Feel The Same Without Me’ in the chorus not ‘How Do You Feel The Sun,’ that’s how I hear it anyway.
Can you let Elizabeth know how good Rory and Dayseeker are as I would also love to see her react to them, I have mentioned them to her before along with Bad Omens but it’s so hard to get new bands that she hasn’t heard through to the charismatic voice patron vote
