Bonita, I rarely have any clothing left. This challenge of yours, of wearing your clothes in your closet, is fun, and I’m interested in seeing what you ended up with . I did a decluttering a few years ago, which in a way I regret, because I feel I could still be using them. However, I still have comfy clothes to wear at home, other clothes I wear to clean the house with, or renovate with, which we are doing now., (to paint or do others tasks). usually old T-shirts and jogging pants with paint stains or even with a hike here or there. Lol Then, I have casual going out clothing and very few formal attire. I do maybe, have a few two many shoes 👠 👟 😝 I love ❤️ shoes.
You are really speaking to me here! Last year, I made a hard pass through my closet, but I need to work on all the categories again that you have mentioned. I have also recommissioned many of my professional clothes and jewelry to wear casually, especially my jewelry. Who says you can't wear pearls with jeans? Or pin a beautiful brooch to a ballcap? I do! This is one way, though, that I am thinking through this: When my maternal grandmother passed away, she had exactly one pretty dress with a jacket, one nice pair of shoes and a handbag, and one beautiful pair of underwear along with a slip. (She obviously had everyday underwear! LOL) She wore that outfit whenever she felt the need to dress up. I'm not even kidding!! And she always looked great. She's my inspiration now in getting this area of my life under control.
Hi Bonita 😊 Great challenge! I like how you’re going about seeing if you want to keep your clothing or donate them. ❤ makes a difference when you see the clothes on a hanger vs on our bodies.
You are being so thoughtful in decluttering. Bi think it makes it hard to declutter when you take an item out and have a sweet memory associated with it. I do remember my mother having the plastic almost foam like placemat with a goose and a heart on them in the 80s and 90s. ❤
If the top that you have on is comfortable then I would definitely keep it. Its pretty and it looks really nice on you. I like the idea of wearing each item to help decide to keep or donate.
Such a great idea to wear the clothes for a day instead of just trying to downsize wardrobe by looking at it and making decision which is usually not deciding! I'm going to try that!
My mother-in-law just the other day gave me a bag of about 10 to 12 pairs of yoga pants she used to take yoga but I don't feel comfortable in them. They're really too snug for me and I don't have any tops to go with them so I'm just going to go ahead and donate those. And that keeps the Clutter out of my house but it also helps get it out of her house as she is almost 83 years old.
@@PenniestoDollars yes for sure thanks, she's really blessed me with some stuff she's given me some clothing that I could use. Some sentimental things some practical things. Another thing I found out and this could be something good to think about. She has offered me canned goods that were on her basement shelf pantry. I go ahead and take them from her even if I can't use them. She has things that expired 10 years ago. And my husband said please anytime she offers you any kind of food stuffs if it's safe let's keep it if not take it anyway so that you can get out of the house her mind is slowly starting to go and we are a little afraid that she would eat spoiled food and not even realize it
I recently went through our spare bedroom and found 2 sets of flatware. One is silver and I’m going to look into selling it and the other I have no idea where it came from lol. I decided to donate the mismatched flatware we have been using and using the nicer set. It must’ve been my mother’s that I put in a box to deal with later.
I like to switch things up. Not necessarily buying more but using a set of dishes or mugs for example… for a few days or few weeks then switching them for another set of dishes with a different color or pattern. And it does feel like it’s new again.
I used to drink only instant coffee. And then my husband bought a percolator off of Amazon and ever since then I would never go back to instant coffee it was so delicious percolated
One thing that I had a deficit in actually was pool towels / bath towels. I have a set that are in my hall bathroom but my husband and I would often be short on towels in our master bath. so I did make a purchase of some towels that we now only use for our pool and we've been able to keep that separate but we still need towels and I was at my mother-in-law's house one day and noticed beach looking towels in her basement on the shelf and I asked her what they were for now my mother-in-law is a widow and she said that was when dad and I used to go away to the beach those were our beach towels and I said Mom will you be using them anymore she said no please take them. So we gained towels and now we have plenty of towels for our bathroom.
@@PenniestoDollars yes for sure and they were such good quality. My two sons one who is visiting with us for a few months use the hall bath and need the towels that are in there so it's not like I can really move them into my bathroom.
I retired a year ago at 62 One of the things that I've been going through are all the clothes that I had to wear for work . I got rid of a lot of them knowing that I wouldn't wear them anymore I only wore them because of my job. Then I hung on to some and I'm going through those now because I haven't wore them for the whole year not any of them so I need to declutter a lot of it. Purses too I have like five of them and I never really wear a purse either. Enjoyed the video. Kim 63 Minneapolis
I am down to one dress and I will probably never wear it. I have donated lots of shoes, but I need to pare them down and also the purses. I finally accepted the fact that I will not be going dancing anymore. That was a hard one but necessary. Thanks for all you do.
We are having a lot of repairs done in our house due to a mold issue. We've filled TWO 20 yard dumpsters, donated a ton of stuff and boxed all the remainder of stuff we are keeping. I can see the end of repairs in sight and before we place anything back in place, we are cleaning out one more time. I'm on a mission to simplify and organize!!! It's going to be life changing!
That is so much work! I’m sorry that that happened but I know you will be so happy with the result! Every time I get anything out of the house, it just feels so good.
Joining this challenge Great ideal. Starting to wear my jewelry daily and decluttering. Bonita cute outfit, looks great on you. Your hair looks great, how are you getting it so straight? When are you leaving for Texas?
My older daughter stopped by our house the other day she was looking for her high school diploma. She is applying for a position in the county or state and needed that. Because she came over to do that she actually was able to get rid of four boxes out of our one storage room where we had all of her things. So that was a plus for us. Cuz those are things we never could have gone through for her.❤
@@PenniestoDollars do you know where my high school diploma was?. I for sure hadn't seen it since the day she graduated so I was so glad she came across it.
I remember in a past video where you had us decluttering and going through our clothing and our shoes. At that time I was able to get rid of about eight pairs of sandals most of them were not even comfortable I was able to give them to my daughter and bless her with those. I got one pair of sturdy sandals that took me through the whole entire summer and they will be great years to come. I have one pair of tennis shoes now one pair of dress shoes one pair of boots I also have one pair of closed toe I don't know if they're considered sandals but they have a rubber bottom and some lacing through them and then there's slits on the side. My mother-in-law gave them to my daughter's years ago because they were too big for her and they didn't care for the style they thought they were too old for them and I took them I've had them for years and I love them so I probably have about four or five pairs of shoes now and I've been able to get by with that perfectly. Thanks so much for the advice❤

Try recycling your T Shirts instead of donating them. You could cut them up for cleaning or washing your cars or mechanical work to wipe hands. Goodwills are selling used T shirts for $4.00 & up that’s insane. A rag rug could also be made with cut up T’s
I actually made a rug from old towels and have enough rags for a long time, including back ups💜 Goodwill will recycle my T’s with dates/businesses so I am thankful for that. Thank you for responding!
Though I barely had any dress clothes I did have one dress that I found myself wearing at least once a year. And I matched it with a pair of tights and also dress boots that have embroidery on the side it's a nice outfit so if I did need a dress up outfit I have something. But that's all the dress clothes I had so that was not something I needed to declutter.
@@PenniestoDollars yeah I got you. When I went through and got rid of a lot of my clothes I kept like one pair of black dress pants and I do have some nice tops and that way if we have to go to a viewing at a funeral home or if we're going to a funeral I have a dress outfit that I can wear
