"Not all of the web is purported to function the way it should on Brave". The only downside I've experienced using Brave is that I get asked to prove I'm not a robot more often than would be necessary on a browser that doesn't have any tracking protections. I've seen people claim it breaks everything, but I just assume they've never used it.
I'm not defending Brave, but I've been using it issue free for several years now and I love it! It just works for me and I use it on my PC and phone. I like the Sync style without having to create yet another account as well. Password string is pretty neat.
Well I'm no stranger to that Davenport guy. I once a few years ago pushed him to the wall because of his nonsense and he couldn't defend himself. If Brave is to be stopped, do that to Chrome before Edge and Brave. Oh hey, wait a minute, that Davenport was an author at Android Police so he was a Google guy, so there was no way he would write an article like "Stop using Chrome". Because Google is more trustable than Brave, right? I mean, right?
In a world in which everything is bad but one is less bad than most of the rest I choose brave. Every browser sucks, I find brave to suck just a bit less. Turned everything that doesn't matter to me off and I'm good to go
I advise you to switch to open-source Firefox browsers with UBlock Origin Built in such as LibreWolf, IceCat or WaterFox. Compared to Brave, they have nothing to do with crypto, were not in any controversy. I use WaterFox as a primary "not so private" browser, LibreWolf for quick searches with automatic deletion of searches, no logs, no logins and passwords saved. For real privacy Tor Browser is the way to go!

One good feature of Brave is an ability to forget the page, when you close the tab. This way cookies and other site data don't clutter your hdd. That Spacebar hit piece reads like endorsement, lol
I use brave but my web already breaks because I use a Pihole, so I don't mind. The only issue I had for a while was Facebook logins. I also don't interact with BAT or anything like that, but their search and AI is kind of cool.
It's the spiritual successor to Opera but it's closed source like Opera was which is the only real con of the browser, despite also being just another chrome browser.

@themroc8231 a lot of what was claimed to be disinformation in that era wasn't, so without specifics I can't conclude anything. It's fine to still want marriage to be marriage, and the slippery slope fallacy fallacy is still a fallacy. What made him controversial was having the same opinion as Obama in 2008.
As far as ad blocking and speed goes, Brave is the best for Android. I'll try other browsers but it's either too slow or it's broken or it doesn't block something that it should. Where in the case of Brave my configuration and setup it just works every single time. Now, if I could get that same functionality without all the extra garbage in the browser, I'd probably consider leaving but I haven't found it yet.
It's pretty good on ios and ipados. The adblocking is very good and works great on yt. Other than that I don't see much use for it A hardened firefox (in theory) should be a lot better on moat other devices.
I used Brave on Windows 10, but it was often a bit stuttery and Eich's shenanigans and the crypto nonsense kinda irked me (the latter should have been an extension). Now I just use Firefox with uBlock Origin on my new laptop running Fedora Linux.
There are none, apart from a few lines in the menu that just stay there. But they don't get in your face when browsing, adjusting settings or managing bookmarks/history. You may need to disable a few things when you initially set it up, but it's no bother thereafter.
I am currently watching this video on Brave. I use Firefox for all but my video needs.I like the ad blocking which is built in to Brave. Some sights will not allow you access with an ad blocler,so Firefox with no ad block can fulfill that function or Chromium without an ad blocker or not signed in.
Have used brave for 3 yrs or more used to use Firefox just some times find a pain to install on Linux but it's better now I am used to Linux lol and some have it in there repositorys now makes it easier.
Early on, I was a huge fan of Brave. The best of Chromium with less tracking. Yet all of the added bloatware shoved in slowed it down and made it more of a resource hog than Chrome proper on some devices. They haven't shoved political ideology above all else like Mozilla has, so they have that going for them as well. I prefer LibreWolf to Brave, although I just installed and am kicking the tires of Floorp.
That's true, it has extra features, but you can add more filter lists for Brave so I don't have any problem with it. I just miss the Element Zapper feature of uBlock Origin on Brave
My experience with Brave, on WX, was that is was resource hungry, continually running in the background, and that deleting the app didn't actually delete it! It was just like an ancient vampire, I had to go into Reg Edit and cut off its head, then remove its heart before all traces were removed. I use Firefox and Zen, a fork or FF, which is always evolving, but I've been at it since Alpha, and I really like the concept. If I have issues, I go back to FF.

If it breaks everything they probably have the setting for tracking set to maximum aggression. I tried that once and it broke a lot.
GitHub is broken on Brave Browser. I have to use Firefox to upload files for commits.
I mean, some sites actually refuse to work on Brave for some reason, but 99.9% of the time it works.
GitHub is completely broken on Brave Browser. I can't commit changes to my repo, unless I use Firefox, or other Chromium browsers.
Brave completely prevents me from making commits to my Git repos, so Brave actually does have issues. I also work on Rev, which also breaks on Brave.
