I'm a visually impaired graphic designer and having a gray tone background is not only a lot less stress on my eyes but it also lets me see all ranges of colors a LOT easier. Recommend!
Love the way that the screen shows which tip you are demonstration. Makes it so much easier to locate areas of interest when playing the video back later.
This video is so informative, and really I don’t know why this doesn’t get more recognition. I paid for procreate a good 4 or 5 months ago, but I’ve actually downloaded other apps to do things that I thought procreate would take care of, not really knowing how to use it. After I watched this video, I was able to use procreate to its full capacity, delete unnecessary apps, and take advantage of this program that I paid for. Thank you so much!
Excellent set-up demo, your videos are very informative so great for a beginners. It’s great that they are up to date with v4.3, it’s harder when done with older versions, thank you
Thanks for all the excellent tips 👍🏻 I especially like Tip #1. I didn’t realize that a darker background saves energy. I think it will also be easier on my eyes.
Thank you for your very informative videos. I am a Procreate beginner, and first read through the handbook, thinking I knew everything about it, until I thankfully discovered your tutorials, explaining all the techniques of Procreate in a very user-friendly way. 👍🏻😃
That was a very clear and helpful set of tips, thank you. I have one question though, what,if any is the advantage of using the select layer tool as a mask rather than using a clipping layer on top?
patricia coveney hi Patricia I think they are both good methods - the pro about the clipping mask is the ability to tweak the mask as you go, as the mask lives in the top layer of whatever you are painting underneath. The select layer will only give you a mask once as you paint - but the pro about the select layer is that say you need to add shadows to multiple layers in your illustration- you will be saving lots of new layers by using the select tool on each layer you want to add shading but then you can paint your shadows all in one top layer, for example. It’s tricky to explain here just in words but I hope that makes sense, hope this helps! Cheers
thank you for the awesomely educational content!! Tip 9: when i do the “select” option, its control panel appears at the bottom, as shown in this video. However, i do not get the crosshatching effect. Has Procreate perhaps updated this? Cheers!!
🙋🏻♀️ hi! I’m new to procreate. Only been trying a couple days. Your videos have really helped! Thanks. Questions....does the pencil matter? And I see you have a brush that is like using an actual pencil. May I ask which you are using? I use mono line. It seems to be the closest I’ve found
Hi there, and welcome to the channel! For my pencil sketches, I use technical pencil, but there are many great other sketch brushes in Procreate ( look up for my top 5 default sketching brushes in Procreate video) 👍
Great tutorial, I’ve learn a lot. AFAIK, displaying darker color on iPad does not impact the battery life, because all iPad models (up to the new 2020 Pros) uses LCD technology, so no observable difference in battery life going from full white to full black.
'Great instructions. I love them. I am a beginner (83 years old) and have a problem: i can draw the letter “s” if i draw it very slowly, but not if i draw it quickly. Is there a setting for that?
Very clear. Now i know why i couldn't fill the colour on the inside of the circle as I didn't choose to slide from the threshold at the top off the app
Hello good morning, I hope you are very well. excellent video and tutorial, thanks to you I have learned more about Procreate of functions that I did not know, thank you very much, I hope you can upload more tutorials to learn how to handle it well. regards desde Argentina 😊👍🏻
I thought I knew everything about "Procreate" but, I was wrong. Hehe ... I didn't know that you can press the erase button and get the same brush your drawing with. Many thanks.
Hi there! quick question: when i draw a circle and even with the help of having it in the perfect shape by holding the pen on the canvas usually the endinpoint of the circle is quite thick. is there a way to have an even circle without seeing the start/endingpoint? thanks a lot
Hi! I have to draw a wallpaper for a huge wall. I made a jungle scene and the thing is that when I print in paper the scene is pixelated. Is there a possibility to cut the scene and organize it in illustration? Or how should I do it?
How do you keep multiple geometric color shapes from overlapping? It seems that when I try to align two different colors, it’s very difficult to keep them from overlapping. I would like them to align perfectly if possible. Thank you!
@@Stoictico My expertise in animations is limited. But, Procreate does have an animation function. I found it pretty time consuming to make a decent 10 second animation. Adobe Animate is just more intuitive and has way more options.
You forgot to include BIG Step for Tip #4 / Alpha Lock before you started Shadowing ! Actually; you started an entire new layer without mentioning that ! Then used somekind of masking thing, that i still don't understand !

Ghost Paper isn’t it easier to use alpha lock on the same layer? Because I use that and it work
Faviola Guzman Well kind of it with separate layers you can not mess up your base layer
Thank u so much. I really enjoy and benefit a lot from ur lessons 😃👍
lotssss of thanks man!!!
OMG, great tutorial. The quick menu is so handy!

Thanks a lot, I’ve just started to use Procreate and I’m very lucky I met you :)

@@ghostpaper thanks a lot! It will be amazing, iʼm sure 😁
Really good explanation and demonstrations
Great instructional vid.
You are an amazing teacher!!! Do you have classes on skillshare? I have subscription there . I want to learn more from you
Thank you! I do have classes there, just check the links in the description of my videos ✌️✨
Thanks a lot again for yet another excellent video!
Thank you. This is very helpful
when you're drawing a shape and want it to be 'perfect' you can tap with your finger while holding down the pen. It makes a perfect circle in seconds!
I Love u so much , you blow my mind 😭😭😭😭
Thanks for your time !!! Amazing 😉
first procreate video that solved my problems :)
amazing video thank u is very helpful, where i can get the noise brush?
You only can save battery live with dark backgrounds if you use an OLED display. ;-) (The iPad uses a TFT-Display so far)
Great video, lots of helpful tips. Thanks!

"reposition your life" 🤣 some truth to that for all. 🙏
Very clear. Now i know why i couldn't fill the colour on the inside of the circle as I didn't choose to slide from the threshold at the top off the app
good tips also love the lighting
I actually learned that I can actually use actually in an actual tuition video, actually :)
Excellent advice 👍
Thank for clear explanations :) i watched the layers mask alpha lock video it’s amazing

So helpful. Sorry if this is a dumb question but how do you unmerge layers?
Nice to see another southpaw out there!
why is no one talking about how he said "repositioning your life" accidentally 😂
Jennifer Lim i felt that at a much deeper level
Thanks 😃
Thank you👏🥰
Just what I needed. Thank you. 👍👍

Excellent!

Do I have to pay for skillshare If I want to watch your video's?

What is the stylus you're using for your iPad?
Hello, what is the suggest size for youtube thumbnail please?
What is the difference between mask and alpha lock?
Nice!

how to fill in the color in a complete shape but on a different layer on top of the first shape without closing the whole shape ??
What pen are u using
I'ts one from D-Brand, I have a video comparing two brands of stickers on my channel :)
@@ghostpaper thank u very much
What is the name for the group of layers under "layers?"
what brush is he using on tip 4
Why when I press select and choose another layer to colour I can only colour *in the lines/ colour the lines* I can't colour the shape
Maybe slow it down and break up in smaller chucks.
Tip 4: why when i hold eraser. They just make eraser brush are the same with my brush, but not their size???
can you help me with how to turn photo to hd, please?
Where can I get those Leo’s Brushes, 3 brush set? 8:02
Thank you!!
Is there a way to undo if I merge the layers?
App name ?
God you are so helpful like really thank you i was using procreat like an old lady 😨

select...!
Hopefully Procreate expands into video editing and animation. Would love to completely ditch Adobe.
You and me both!
Wait someone told me that you can make short animations, is that true? But I agree they should think about that
@@Stoictico My expertise in animations is limited. But, Procreate does have an animation function. I found it pretty time consuming to make a decent 10 second animation. Adobe Animate is just more intuitive and has way more options.
In tip 4 how do you stay inside the lines?
Sinead Quirk alpha lock the layer
Omg - the unfinished line 🙋🏼♀️ I could not figure out why the whole screen changed.
You forgot to include BIG Step for Tip #4 / Alpha Lock before you started Shadowing ! Actually; you started an entire new layer without mentioning that ! Then used somekind of masking thing, that i still don't understand !
that’s what i’m looking for too!
Is it possible to set a tracing image on the canvas that one can paint over?
Easy import a photo, reduce opacity ,open a new layer on top, trace lower layer
Clear first layer ........ simples.....david
Cool
