I lived in an RV wirh 5 animals. I started over. It took me 3 years to get on my feet. I'm 39 now and I'm making it.

Thats not even remotely the same thing. She had a husband providing for her and no children as a stay at home wife and instead of going to therapy and working on herself, she got worse and ruined the marriage. She even said she left her husband. Very different situations

@@picardy7488 There is divorce compensation. its called a percentage (usually 50) of their retirement for life. So in most cases its worth over 1 million dollars which is still payable even if the wife cheats or otherwise dishonors the marriage. Service members get raked over the coals in divorces daily so please stop with the compensation garbage

I was also in a car accident in Vegas that wasn't my fault. The guy had the bare minimum liability insurance (30k). I've been badly injured for life. Couldn't work for many years, went through my savings, and I also had to "start over" at close to 38 once I was barely healthy enough to work again. I got my MBA during my time away from work (homework laying down). 6 years later, I've saved quite a bit and should be financially independent in 2 years.

I'm really sorry to hear about the at-fault party unable to make you whole. I'd just add that since the other party was fully covered with insurance (at $30k), the lesson for others to learn is to purchase disability and health insurance because the other party may only pay you $30k. I have told my young adult children to purchase disability insurance for this exact scenario. They rent and only just started their career so they also only carry the minimum auto insurance because their net worth is less than $20k. I assume most people that drive cars are renters are judgement proof.

Now that she has a better salary and a plan, she’ll probably do great. 👍

Thanks for giving her that last push she needed! You talked about wasted money. For me the turning point was looking at tax time how much I made and thinking where did the money go and I had very few assets to show for all that money. I put a note pad in my pocket for a month and I started writing down everything I would buy. I found in just one week it was things like junk soda pop, candy bars and fast food. The cost isn't just the soda but I spent over the years to fix the damage to my teeth $10k! Listen to him! I took the money I spent on junk food and invested it into my 401k and I retired early at 62! One of the best TH-cam videos and I think when people find you should be growing fast!

You took care of your physical and mental health first, so important, and then you went and got advice to improve your finances. Rent free for two years from a family friend and no utilities, making $1300 and getting food stamps is wild. She needed to go to court with a pro bono attorney to fight for her rights from the divorce.
Men or anyone in power who leave their significant other homeless and unemployed are beyond callous and only provide support when forced to by law. A proper division of property, assets and debts, and give. Financial support until she gets back on her feet. That’s so unrighteous, I feel for her 😢

I completely understand what this woman went through. At 37 I was a stay at home mom (for the better part of ten years) and didn't have money of my own. My husband went to prison and I was left with nothing but his last paycheck, a mountain of debt and two kids to raise by myself. Fortunately my parents took us all in. It took time to get back on my feet because I was so depressed. I couldn't keep a job at first but eventually found one through an employment agency that I'm still at now. This was the toughest thing I ever had to go through but in a little more than two years I got a divorce, my own apartment, paid off more than half my debt and even have a little savings built up. If you're in what feels like an impossible situation, just know that it does get better, even if it takes months or years.

For all of you blaming her for her mental health issues, you have no idea whether her husband was abusive or neglectful which lead to her depression. Research the Decentering Men Movement. There is a pipeline from trad wife to the food stamps office. A man gets paid for the work he does. A woman works for FREE at home and a man benefits from her emotional and physical labour so he can go out into the world and work to get PAID. The stay at home wife is the ONLY person who works multiple jobs for FREE for a lifetime with NO pension for protection in old age. When people talk about grandma's marriage lasting 50 years they aren't talking about how her husband left her with no option to leave.

Doesn't seem like his fault. She said at 2:39 that it was mutual, and if she knew COVID was coming, she more than likely would have stayed. He did nothing wrong. She mentioned at 9:45 that she had agoraphobia and she couldn't work, so the husband took care of her and worked and paid all the bills while she was at home. He never forced it on her. COVID also exacerbated her agoraphobia making it difficult for him, and he was most likely left to do everything on his own. Decentering men wasn't her issue. He was her lifeline and he was providing what she needed.

This was tough to watch and the whole time I was thinking how there were common sense solutions for every issue, that she just made the opposite of the right choice every step of the way. But then I could see the transformation begin to take place, even by the end of the conversation. Holding her accountable is a loving act and builds the self worth that leads to the confidence to stop self sabotaging, a relatable bad habit. I was judging her the whole time for being a mooch and a deadbeat, even though her anxiety and high sensitivity is also relatable. I would never dream of letting others pay for my living expenses but now, after an endless stream of hardships, I have become unable to meet my own financial needs. After hearing her update, she is in a vastly better place than my deplorable financial situation and my original judgment comes full circle. Hope she continues to aim for a higher income and build her financial life to a place of great success and security. What a great service you have done by helping her. Go Jessica, you can do it! 👏

Hello Jessica. I picked one thing that I think might help. I understand not always being able to leave the house 'home' at will. Sometimes for weeks. But you have a skill that may not have occured to you yet. You are beautifully turned out. Aesthetics is evident. You don't sell and buy (swap) your clothes, paying nothing, without skill. You are a reseller ! One of the easiest ways to be an online seller (without paying for courses) is to use your good eye to recognise things of quality, buy..........and then resell. Try it with one item you already own. Trust me in that it is something that should cost you nothing to begin with, but might pique your interest and work for you. You would also be helping the planet by recycling. Bonne chance ! Helen x

She's so lucky she gets $281 a month in food stamps. In California, SSI recipients get $246 a month.

You are compassionate and you attempt to find real solutions to people’s financial problems rather than being a preachy celebrity type of financial advisor. That’s what it’s all about to me. Great channel here.

One thing to remember with KBB value on vehicles, depending on where you are in the world, that's usually referring to a vehicle that's completely safetied/road worthy. Like my old truck had a KBB of about $5,000 -- but not without new brakes and rocker panels. Obvi you can sell as is privately, but just something to be aware of when thinking about used vehicle value. 😊

Mental health issues are tough. I don’t know if she revealed whether she’s actively getting treatment for them, but this will be very important to help her get her back on track financially. A lot of people with untreated mental illness have difficulty managing their finances.
Getting car insurance is important. Not only is it important for financial security, but it is ILLEGAL to drive without insurance in nearly all states. When you get pulled over, they check whether you are insured, and she could lose her license or get serious fines. If she gets into an accident and she has no insurance, she could possibly face jail time.

I am not 100% sure for the mental aspect, however she now has CAR INSURANCE, and any person reading this should have too :)
