The most forceful thing about this is how when CM uses a new tool, no matter what one, it results in his own unmistakable sweet style. Gifts from God. Lucky us.
Absolutely wild to me that I first found you when I was looking for ways to transfer images to wood (polycrylic shoutout!), stuck around for your pure effortless charm, and now I'm watching these masterfully produced videos! Vive le Craftsman, forever x
Similar - began watching clay videos, glue, craft methods.....immediately hooked & watch 'em all. Rewatch sometimes. Even things I have no intention of doing (sorry, but I have trouble with radio! And I'm so bad I can't even hum a tune). But enjoyed the video anyway. Can a person just be asmr?
For the record, lots of people have had the same idea! At least 3-4 dozen tools like this have been built, going back to the 1980s. The actual hangup is that voice pitch tracking takes years of work to fine tune, so most of these projects didn't stay afloat long enough to reach maturity. I started making imitone in 2013-ish, and there are still several stops left on the roadmap for completing the tech.
Looking at the view velocity, im thinking a crafsman in the thumbnail makes a big difference 👀 love this video and the breakdown at the beginning to make something digital tangible!
Crafsman! I figured out why you always wear gloves; it's to hold all that talent in. Also, Crafsman! Don't you know singing is like dancing; it don't matter if you can or not, just do it.
Really proud of your progress in Reaper Crafs! Seems like only yesterday (years ago...) that I commented and let you in on the media explorer! Have owned imitone since it first released like a decade ago and I have to say...this right here the BEST tutorial out to this day. Keep it steady my friend!
@@TheCrafsMan I have been overwhelmingly humbled my friend! Such a long time has passed since my heart last felt so filled on up. 🤩 That was a band of local pals from JXN that we streamed live one evening in our old studio spot. Soon enough we will unload the archives. Decades worth of personal songcraftin’ & timelines alongside a personal life journey. Hopefully when we next meet we will have made you truly proud! Happy Holidays to you and yours crafs. Stay the sweetest homie.
Nobody can imitone your creative qualities, Crafsman! I appreciate that you show off these new tools and techniques in an approachable way. So much of the creative process is really just playing around and seeing what works.
Talent comes in many forms, for each person. You say you can’t sing; ok that. Is. Fine. But you comprehend music and it’s accompanying technology and theory very well. Many PAID musicians can’t do what you’re doing here. Crafsman, you ARE a musical marvel and you are influencing me with each musical addition in your videos. You are QUITE talented indeed. You continue to show your curiosity’s prowess. I believe your power is limitless. Craft on, steady. 😌
Dude. Wow. I'm sold. In the last year I've been learning clawhammer banjo and bass. Both a jazz bass and a fretless bass ukulele that I'm trying to restore. Yes, I have ADHD, if it weren't obvious. I know maybe I'm being impatient, but I love music and I want to make some myself but it's a bit overwhelming! So this couldn't have come at a better time for me. Thank you!
Just wanted to let you know this comment RESONATED. :) P.S. I sometimes play my 4-string baritone ukulele clawhammer style, since I first learned to play on banjo. LOL - I still do the full bump-dit-ty stroke, although I have no 5th/top string for my thumb to pluck. :D
@@TheCrafsMan I'd love to hear some Crafsman banjo playing. It's one of my favorite instruments, but I don't have the fingers to play it. Though I may try with Imitone.
It's been years since I've been a subscriber. And it's amazing to see that this once small channel has shaped up. Influencing hopefully the action figure market in North America. Because i knows from the outset that this channel was one of the best on TH-cam 😂❤
I’m a total midi nerd and I love that you made this video. I personally use some software called Jam Origin Midi Guitar 2. It allows me to convert my guitar audio signal to midi(and I would imagine it would work with processing vocals as well, but I’ve never tried). Many products have been developed as electronic midi guitar instruments or special pickups or pedals to achieve the same result, but this works with any standard guitar or even other stringed instruments depending on their range. It’s a load of fun to be able to play a piano or keyboard part with a guitar.
I wanna LIKE this video more than once. I can't believe I haven't heard of this plugin. While there ARE plugins that do this same thing (sorta), they're not generally accessible. They're relatively hard to use. This one is easy. Another top-notch video
@TheCrafsMan, Thank you for introducing us to this cool IMITONE instrument! I'm sure I'm not the only one out here who would like to see more of your music making videos... especially if the IMITONE and MicroKorg is involved. That was a MicroKorg at 25:45 wasn't it? (another cool instrument!) 🙂 I'm looking forward to your next creative video adventure.
Great stuff - I myself muck around in Garageband and make my own 'soundscapes'. It's very relaxing and time just flies by as you get involved with your creation.
I used an Imitone once. I hadn't sung but three notes when it said "Fer the love of Pete! Please stop singing, and never do it again." Then it made some popping noises and started smoking.
This channel is consistently so well done and so creative!!! I really appreciate all the work that goes into this. I can tell it’s a lot to pull of something of this quality 😊
Great visuals I watch all your vids, especially the insight into explaining how things work with patience and wit is so calming to my own productivity. I always rewatch your mold castings and stop motion videos. Those 80’s dollar bin figures are gems.
0:06 Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah...? 2:31 It just kicked in my head from those first couple of beats! Da-Da-Da! Do-do-do-do-dooooooooo! Da-da-da! 16:23 What was that voice? 20:10 That site looks interesting! 29:06 I get it what you are saying, but still a funny moment.
I just recently got a midi keyboard and found I have an idea but like you have a lack of music theory so not only the imitone plug in but the key plug in will help a bunch. Thanks a bunch crafsman!
I haven't heard that Trio song since 1986 in the undergound dance clubs in Houston...that's when the X was really really gooooood! Lots of good memories from that time :)
Fun fact: a piano is a percussion instrument because the player strikes the keys and the hammers that they lever strike the strings. Yes I was surprised too but when my pianist dad was in the royal marines band he was assigned the drum as the closet instrument to his. 🎵 Your ukulele playing is beautiful, as is your music. Soul food for the ears.
Love this, I’m always singing little made up jingles but can’t play music. This just might be the ticket for me to get started. Love you Crafsman, thank you for the many lessons you share.
even tho i know pretty much everything that CrafsMan is talking about (music theory wise), these music videos are still nice to watch :P its delightful to see how he makes his iconic bops, the music in all the videos are always a really nice vibe brining everything together
I recall a lot time ago a device that was supposed to work similarly to Imitone. It had a mic on one and and a little box in the middle for controls and electronics or something, and this Imitone software re-creats what that was meant to do but better. It's very much something I'd been chasing for a while in my efforts to make music without a lick of musical knowledge. Add in all these other technical wonders like Midi and you can do even more than you set out to do.
So, as the Imitone-Team mentioned in an answer of a comment - I got some nice results(for that time) with my 80's Korg DVP-1 in the 90's with some workarounds. Don't forget for example the audio to midi function in Cubase that exists for years now. Didn't used it in realtime and can't compare this in realation of latency and quality with IMITONE. But I'm using for years a product (microphone+software) called "Vochlea", that works very well. Oh, and of course you should definitely mention this - it doesn't mean that the melody you have in your head is actually notated as midi notes. How many people can have melodies 'in their head' but can't articulate them? A lot. So the title "Mind to Melody" is quite (absolutely) wrong.
I once wanted to get a tune from my head into the computer, so I recorded myself whistling it, made a spectrograph in Audacity, and then measured the frequencies and durations from it. Yeah, I'm not very musical.
My friend, I like this so much! It makes me feel better, if I'm being 100%: Because this is some stuff I would attempt (IF I even thought of it)! Hearing from people who *dig* and try things - that's inspirational.
