Per me la più bella voce di baritono degli ultimi 50 anni.Che dolore che i suoi occhi non vedano più la luce e il suo canto non allieti nei teatri noi ascoltatori.Restano le testimonianze sonore e,per fortuna,sono tantissime,anche se nessuna può rendere fino in fondo giustizia alla bellezza immacolata e conturbante di questa voce(è il caso di dirlo) davvero baciata da Dio.

His pitch was great in the performance. The fragile tone gives a haunting quality to it. It seems like an even more honest performance than the amazing Mexico video. It's a lot stronger than when he started to sick... which I find incredible. I think this is his best performance because he knows his time is limited, and the humility of mortality is restraining to the highest realm of discipline and art

Già ritirato dalle scene, è riapparso al Metropolitan per una sorta di addio. Forse desiderava morire in scena, come molti artisti di teatro desiderano. Alla luce della sua condizione, credo che la sua performance acquisti un altro valore e non sia, dopotutto, così terribile. È morto ieri.

Agree to an extent. It is not a very bad performance to my ears; it just pales compared to his usual standard. But it is the meaning of him singing at all, which makes to great and moving.
He sang for his life. One of the greatest operasingers of all time and one of the best ambassadors of Russia.

Yes. His scales are tuned to a more honest and suffering sound. In his other performances there's more of an athletic, warrior approach.
