Honestly you probably don't even have to be incredible at violin for that to be true. The plucking can't be that hard, and it certainly is difficult to get a consistent rhythm like that without hitting the ball slightly too hard or slightly too soft and throwing everything off.
@@vigator1301 I play a lot of ping pong, and I know that bouncing a ball perfectly in rhythm for that long is in fact difficult. On the other hand, while I cannot do the plucking, I am also not a good violinist, and it seemed plausible to me that it could be mastered with relative ease. However, you can see that a violinist did respond to my comment, and confirmed that the plucking is also difficult, therefore I was wrong. Conclusion: both parts are difficult, and the performance is even more impressive. Win win.
The balloon is actually much harder to get a consistent note out of than you would think - I tried it once and managed to get a fairly convincing rendition of amazing grace after a couple of hours of practice, but the hardest part was ensuring that fingers were *exactly* the right distance apart to produce the correct pitch, the margin of error is less than a millimetre so the fact that this guy accurately produces all of those notes means that he practiced it enough that it ended up in his muscle memory
@@dan-us6nk I promise you, intonation sense has very little to do with it, as I said the margin of error is _tiny_ so even the slightest variation in your finger width results in a wrong note - it's basically impossible to accurately hit every note (especially that final high note that he got from a new fill with no reference - absurdly impressive) without it being basically muscle memory
@@dan-us6nk oh absolutely, he'll definitely have an advantage because of that, but as I said it will only account for a small amount of how he was able to do that because it's a different technique. You have finger and thumb on each side of the balloon spout and you have to pull them both apart evenly - which is completely different to sliding individual fingers up and down the neck of a string instrument. Also as I said before, the margin of error is so much smaller - on bowed instruments (especially the cello he plays) you can be out by half a millimetre and absolutely no-one will notice because the change is so slight. However, if you're out by half a millimetre on the balloon you'll be at least a quartertone if not a full semitone out of tune which is definitely noticeable

Okay... when the guy started with the balloon, I decided...
Musicians just have WAAYYYY too much time on their hands.
Bob in the West As I musician, I can attest, too much time in a practice room. It does things to you lol
Lol we wish
this man can do vibrato with a freakin' baloon, and here i am, 6 months of violin playing and can't do vibrato for shit...smh
69 likes.. Nice
Zan Dude 1 1/2 years and vibrato still sucks 😔
Avoid farting for 48h. It helps in the beginning.
Dude me too!
Six months and you want to do vibrato? Concentrate on scales mate. Musicality will follow once you have some skill.
Me 5 mins ago: why the hell is this recommended for me? Me now: Good job TH-cam.
This put a smile on my face, stuck in bed recovering from an injury and this made my day! Bravo!
