A few tips: The boxes will come to you at the end of the round if you can't get them. Turrets and landmines only benefit from things that don't show up on the right hand side (other than damage and engineering). So attack speed won't apply to them, but explosion damage|explosion radius|attacks have a chance to burn do. In order to kill the bosses at end (or outlast them) you will need speed, so speed is ALWAYS good.
Tom, if you complete "danger 2" which is a harder difficulty, then you will unlock your dream character :) also, the chests automatically pick up at the end of the round, so you can just leave them also also, the only stat turrets care about is engineering. damage, life steal, attack speed and the rest does nothing for them. you can hover over a stat to get a more detailed description. going through and reading all the stat tooltips, actually taught me alot about how somethings work
My guess would just be the amount of options/directions you are given in combination to the characters and their strengths/weaknesses. Sometimes you can't really lean into their strengths that well on certain runs
I would guess it is the lack of weapons with target Priorities. All weapons aim for "closest" enemy. But those games usually have weapons that fire into areas further away, go for the highest HP foe, random enemies, weapons you can direct. Having all weapons go "closest enemy" really removes any room for strategy.
Turrets just need a rework in general. While you can up the damage of them, there's no way to increase the fire rate which guarantees that you'll get overwhelmed in later waves.
@@Sekiberius24 true, plus I don't think they don't scale with damage% so it's all based on engineering flat damage. I tend to just use them for starting fires remotely in an elemental build
You can select the stats in the equipment purchase screen to see how they effect gameplay. Damage types are represented by icons that match in the stat block, so boosting those help quite a bit. A pretty fun run is the Bull character when you unlock it. I think the first time I went all the way was with the Wildling wielding nothing but sticks.
tom remember that lifesteal is a % chance to gain 1 life when hitting something, not a % gain of life equal to % of x damage you do. so 50% lifesteal = A 50% chance to heal for 1 per attack.. Both regen and lifesteal dont work well without stacking lots of hp. And you should always focus on either lifesteal or hp regen to be efficient. also, you should be getting as much harvesting as you physically can, its free resources and xp at the end of the wave and allows you to scale and dump resources into rerolls for better gear. and dont worry about rushing to pick up chests, you automagically get them at the end of the round if they were dropped.
A few pointers: Dodge is only worth it if you get high (max) amount of it. Crates are picked up automatically after every wave. Getting 10-12 armor helps significantly with survivability. Flat damage is better early game. Luck is a great stat, especially when combined with the Tree item. Ranged weapons usually suffers from a lack of AoE making ranged builds generally harder. Max HP is arguably your most important stat. Getting the 2x resources left over from last wave is quite important. Try to keep track of which ones they are and when you've depleted your reserve. You can trigger your own mines. If you really want to.
Based on how I read the Engineer, the idea is to only Buff Engineering. All direct Damage Boosts have a 50% penalty. So you are not going to be a melee or ranged character. "If once you go the turret path, forever will it Dominate your destiny.
I tend to aim for 20 dodge, 10 armour and 30hp asap to cover 1-11 survivability then continue to stack dodge and HP every other stat upgrade. Weapons have set bonuses so something to keep an eye on too. Range is better than it sounds, there's no such thing as too much healing but there is such a thing as too little damage. Specifically for Ranger I would recommend taking a couple Shredders, they're great early AoE, then stack up on flat ranged damage over % before moving into miniguns and a rocket launcher later on. Stacking any one weapon will give results if you build around it.
There’s a way to have a lot of fun by getting a load of luck and harvesting and taking all the additional trees you can in the shop,u can get all your upgrades from tons of trees, and if u get the lumberjack shirt u 1 shot any trees so you could do the turret build at the same time
Tom you should try the tazer mage, mage class and then take tazers and elemental damage buffs. It slows the enemies so you can create a big ball of enemies that you circle around whilst they slowly move
there is a fun boy that runs away from you with like a green crystal strapped to it's back... KILL IT... gives a chest like 99% of the time Turrets go: grey - gun blue - flame purple - laser red - rocket
Also worth mentioning that flame effects are generally great damage but they don't stack, so one flame turret is fantastic but anything more than that is a waste
One tip for this game if you decide to play more. Lifesteal doesn't work how it does in normal games. It makes it to where dealing damage will have a chance to heal you for a set amount, not based on how much damage you deal
My favorite build is full tazer build. Its so strong with the early harvest, then upgraded get a little pierce and range and they spread kill the whole map
After the last update the first 3 shops are guaranteed to have 2 weapons in them higher % relevant to what you already have. Focus rerolls early when its cheap and you can often have 4-6 of the same weapons by lvl4. Got all the item unlock/character achievements and danger lvls done already, this game has some stupidly cracked combinations! :)
I really like all medical. i usually go for all scissors. it's quite fun! Also, harvesting is really good! It will give you X amount of green per round end. And it will also add 1 to your harvesting amount every time it works. very good passive income.
it's so beneficial to combine things whenever you can it seems like maybe it might be good to have more as in quantity versus quality but quality beats quantity every time just letting you know
There's some really funky characters you can unlock that's more interesting than what you've shown in this video. One-Armed, Pacifist and Bull are a couple of them.
Some advice: your most important stats are HP, armour, dodge and some kind of regen. You can win the game with just these stats and you will have far more consistent runs focusing more on defence.
Daily reminder that Tom is an amazing person and to thank him for all he has done/will do - Day 1050 Yey, really like this game, very cool and satisfying :D Damn, just died so fast and sudden on both rounds XD god OOO, always love a good Turret build :D yey
60hp, more than 10 armor and some form of hp regen is good on any run. Focusing on getting weapons in early is good as well because you get two garanteed weapons after the early waves.
I've found the wizard to be the most OP. Elemental damage is REALLY good. Get wands and flamethrowers and survivability and I have beaten difficulty 4 that way. Still working on difficulty 5...
psychopath + hunter's trophy , spam knives and swords = auto win "lucky" spam luck upgrades and all the things that do damage based on luck with more trees = auto win
lifesteal isn't 1% damage to health, it's 1% chance to heal for 1 hp if you're playing engineer you don't need hp% regen or lifesteal or any other form of healing because medi turrets outperform everything. tom gunna do tom things.
So, you really should've combined you're wrenches and gotten that flamethrower because of those flame buffs you picked up. Plus you hurt your range WAY too much for the turrets to be really useful. Also, I recommend 4 high level turrets and 2 max screwdrivers. Those mines do A LOT in the late game. Also, please combine your weapons more, it's a strong enough buff to sacrifice a weapon.
Flame Turrets dont do Elemental Damage, they still do Engineering Damage. Also, please try to avoid stepping on your landmines when no enemies are around. It is a very irritating mechanic that you can trigger tham as the player but sadly that's how it is. Keep up the good work, love your videos!
I feel like the range of the turrets was a big issue. If you look at how close enemies had to get before the turrets would fire, idk..... looked kinda sussy to me
The engineer is the only one I've beaten a round with, without cheating. I've also experienced that you sometime just take damage without touching any enemies or projectiles, almost as if the game sometimes spawns invis enemies or projectiles.
Tommothy please play Her Name Was Fire. I tried the demo and really enjoyed it, would buy it but I don't know how long i'd play it for, I'd much rather you watch you play it!
Tryed this build. Had all 3 red , and 2 with mines and a scissor in red ^^. level 20 boss killed me hardcore . very complicated ;). Hope some fixes in the future ^^. way harder than it should be. But very nice idea . greetings ;)

I tried this game myself and it's way harder than any horde survival game for some reason. There's no shame in dying in this one.
My guess would just be the amount of options/directions you are given in combination to the characters and their strengths/weaknesses.
Sometimes you can't really lean into their strengths that well on certain runs
I won danger 5 after 30h of gameplay:/ game is rly hard for new players, but with experience it becomes really interesting
I would guess it is the lack of weapons with target Priorities. All weapons aim for "closest" enemy.

Ranger: Max HP upgrades are less effective
Tom: "Oh, that Max HP actually"
You can select the stats in the equipment purchase screen to see how they effect gameplay. Damage types are represented by icons that match in the stat block, so boosting those help quite a bit.

Y'know... those crates auto-loot at the end of the round.
That is good to know, cheers

"Why is that guy red?" The bumpy boys buff other enemies. The buff is red.

All right, it's Brotato time! And with a character I haven't seen played to boot, so that makes it even sweeter.

Bet Tom would love the Soldier class where they can only attack while static
The first build is hilarious. He holds to "the best defense is a great offense" and "speed increases"
I nickname this the "Sonic Build"
Gotta go fast
there is a fun boy that runs away from you with like a green crystal strapped to it's back... KILL IT... gives a chest like 99% of the time
Turrets go:
grey - gun
blue - flame
purple - laser
red - rocket
I would give more tips, but i don't wanna backseat too hard :)
it had to be a red rocket :D
Also worth mentioning that flame effects are generally great damage but they don't stack, so one flame turret is fantastic but anything more than that is a waste
One tip for this game if you decide to play more. Lifesteal doesn't work how it does in normal games. It makes it to where dealing damage will have a chance to heal you for a set amount, not based on how much damage you deal
Would range not be a better thing to grab when using guns... it looks like they are only firing in unwanted hug range....
Range is great no matter what you're using, since it also affects melee weapons.
My favorite build is full tazer build. Its so strong with the early harvest, then upgraded get a little pierce and range and they spread kill the whole map
Ayy, always love to see more brotato
the multitasker class would be cool to see or the one where you can have more guns
After the last update the first 3 shops are guaranteed to have 2 weapons in them higher % relevant to what you already have. Focus rerolls early when its cheap and you can often have 4-6 of the same weapons by lvl4.

This game is absolutely nuts and that makes me love it even more
Some advice: your most important stats are HP, armour, dodge and some kind of regen. You can win the game with just these stats and you will have far more consistent runs focusing more on defence.
*A-Bam!*
A shuriken crit build with the Crazy character is fun! Also the Luck character is fun, can go whatever on him :))
I would love to see a Riddle Bros or Tom and Big Lyds play Scorn series. Holding off watching other people play it hoping you will soon.
If you can't wait, I'd recommend John Wolfe's play-through (of just about any horror game, honestly).
Daily reminder that Tom is an amazing person and to thank him for all he has done/will do - Day 1050
Yey, really like this game, very cool and satisfying :D

60hp, more than 10 armor and some form of hp regen is good on any run. Focusing on getting weapons in early is good as well because you get two garanteed weapons after the early waves.
Try the multitasker with 12 sticks. Each stick gives the other sticks bonus damage and he can get ridiculously powerful.
An SMG elemental wizard is a fun run
-1 Armour
"I need to heal all this damage I'm taking!"
I've found the wizard to be the most OP. Elemental damage is REALLY good. Get wands and flamethrowers and survivability and I have beaten difficulty 4 that way. Still working on difficulty 5...
Tom, you keep walking over your mines and setting them off.
The best tip I can give you, Tom, is don't die
You automatically collect crates at the end of the round, so don't worry about picking them up.
This is a very fun game to watch! Probably stressfun to play.
Great video as always.
psychopath + hunter's trophy , spam knives and swords = auto win
"lucky" spam luck upgrades and all the things that do damage based on luck with more trees = auto win
lifesteal isn't 1% damage to health, it's 1% chance to heal for 1 hp
if you're playing engineer you don't need hp% regen or lifesteal or any other form of healing because medi turrets outperform everything.
tom gunna do tom things.
arent the chests/crates auto pickup on round end? so running for it was real stupid

Stepping on mines detonate them. Doing no damage to the player, but may be premature.

I was trying to figure out why this all seems so familiar
Alien Homide
I feel like the range of the turrets was a big issue.
If you look at how close enemies had to get before the turrets would fire, idk.....
looked kinda sussy to me
The screwdriver would work fine if you quit setting off your own mines when there aren't any monsters nearby to die from it.
_"Heck on the deck!"_ This is a neat little game. (Also, Tom's been streaming a bit on Twitch again recently if ya need some more Angory goodness!)
Love it!
Heck on the deck!
Personally, I prefer using the old man when I'm doing a turret build.
I love your work
multitasker with sticks only is fun
Is it normal that I crave french fries every time I see the name of the game?
Try the pacifist class, its such a weird way to play the game. Lots of tasers, hands and mediguns made me win danger 2 the first time
Tfw Tom picks the Ranger but doesn't really take any ranged damage upgrades which the character gives extra to >.>
The engineer is the only one I've beaten a round with, without cheating.
Yee yee! BroTomto
when was this recorded? Duct tape doesnt give engineering?
how did i get here before this hit 50 views?!
greed always seems to get you
Why's that one RED.....LOL
WOOOOOOOOOOO!
Tryed this build. Had all 3 red , and 2 with mines and a scissor in red ^^. level 20 boss killed me hardcore . very complicated ;). Hope some fixes in the future ^^. way harder than it should be. But very nice idea . greetings ;)
Tip: Maybe not so much luck. Lol
(Unrelated to the video)please try out a game called “void bastards” I think you’d be awful but have lots of fun
pley terra invicta ples
half the video is ignoring/saying we wont take ___ then saying you regret it
obviously its on purpose .-.
I do not understand the appeal of this genre, they’re like the binding of Isaac if you kept the items but then deleted the rest of the video game
