    Nice job on the valve cover! Now on to part 2. :)

    Step one is accomplished, now on to step 2. I would have guessed the same issue. There is a possibility that that exhaust valve has a burn spot on it as a result of it not closing properly for a period of time. Looking forward to the next episode!

    Start with the most likely cause and go from there,
    When you finish with the job, it should look like someone with good work ethics worked on it, clean the area around it, 👍
    Great video ! Thanks for sharing 🙏

    When you showed the valve clearance around 13:50 on the computer, you showed the specs for a gx160, the engine you are working on is a gcv160.

    • @BrucesShop

    I think the carburetor has an internal fuel leak. Could be a needle and or seat or float level out.

  • @scottfirman
    @scottfirman 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Honda states to replace the valve cover any time valve service is required. Those covers are not intended to be reused except on the commercial grade mowers.

    • @BrucesShop
      @BrucesShop  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I get that (use the same one) but it didn't leak. Thanks for keeping me honest. Remember I am a" Backyard Small Engine Mechanic"

    • @scottfirman
      @scottfirman 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BrucesShop I am also. My concern if I work on someone else's equipment is possible leakage. I do admit, I could have opened my own business by now, I did have the local shop offer to sell to me last summer, I know he wants out. My problem is I am too old to be starting a business. I worked full time for the public schools and part time for a friend in his small engine shop. I found out he retired this spring also. I do not blame him however. He was pretty busy all the time. I just happened to walk into his business one day and next thing I knew, I was working 4 hours a day for him. I still get offered to help the local shops get " caught up" every spring but can only do 1/4 of what I used to due to my health.

  • @jeremydeforest809
    @jeremydeforest809 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think it is the spark timing look at the blade for chips first unless it has carbon build up on the exhaust valve that needs to be lapped or the carburetor needs it or fuel filters.

    Yeah I'm wondering about timing belt or even maybe more simply the flywheel key might be sheared or partially sheared. Or even the ignition unit have made a total fool of me before with ignition units when they half-assed work. It's really nice when they either don't work or they do work but when they in between oh my God they can send you looking for parts Unknown

    Without watching both videos I'm going to take a guess at a fouled spark plug...most of the time it runs rich because of issues with fuel delivery system but also fouled spark plug can cause it to misfire and build up too much unburned fuel resulting in the mower running too rich...

    • @BrucesShop
      @BrucesShop  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well you are right on the fuel delivery part.
