Beth X Space Beth is REAL | Rick and Morty 'Bethic Twinstinct' BREAKDOWN

- ALRIGHT we all know why you’re here. Yep it’s real. Thanks to Rick and Morty’s 3rd episode of season 6, Bethic Twinstinct, Beth X Beth is a thing. But honestly, from the preview clips and even the subtext in the season premiere, I feel like we all saw this coming. Or at least you SHOULD HAVE seen it coming. AND YEAH the internet is gonna be talking about it A LOT, and so am I. But Bethic Twinstinct is a lot more than just Bethic Twincest. This is once again a GREAT character study on Beth herself, as well as a really interesting commentary on how people attempt to take control of their own lives when so much of it is actually out of our hands. So, yeah, we’re gonna talk about the Beth stuff, but also so much more. Let’s dive in!

i also loved the fact that they canonically established that rick and jerry go drinking together and that rick wanted to get a tattoo with jerry. really shows how far they've come since season 1
Love your username
I honestly wish we got 1 or 2 more Rick snd Jerry episodes. Developing Jerry to not so pathetic and to show that trying to be normal isn’t a bad way to live is a good thing.
Jerry isent "pathetic"
Hes a hopeless romantic, with horrible luck. Who still comes out usually unscathed, cuz he acts pathetic
Jerry can stick up for himself, it just gets scary for normal people when a passive person snaps
Rick was a passive person before Rick prime 😂😂👌 passive people can be peaceful or destructive
it made me happy and id love an episode where they go on a wacky adventure together without it being about them having to get along
Sort of a small thing, but I really loved that Rick didn't leave Summer and Morty to deal with it alone. Early season Rick would have gone to the garage to get drunk, and tell Summer and Morty to get used to weird stuff.
This Rick stayed at the table with them, kept playing the games with them. He ultimately couldn't do anything to really help, but he was still there with his grandkids so they weren't dealing with this crap all alone.
The episode did make me uncomfortable, because it should, having sex with your clone is a weird idea. But it made me laugh REALLY hard at Summer and Morty's reactions, I liked Jerry's way of dealing with it, and Beth's weird character development is still great. The video game sideplot was also funny on its own. Top tier episode, I loved it.
"He ultimately couldn't do anything to really help, "
Well he could easily have made a device to prevent the sound coming out of that room. But apparently he thought that was hiding from the truth or something.
@@newperve or or just got ear buds
Ending didn’t make sense. Mort and Summers reactions were funny but why couldn’t they just leave the room while it was going on? And did Rick want his grandkids to listen to their parents have threesome sex? Sometimes I feel like these gags are just ways for Roiland and Harmon to sneak their sexual fetishes onto the audience (cuckolding, incest, voyeurism)
Id 100% have sex with my clone. Is that weird
Bro for real you can really see how far Rick has come just by the fact that he tries to give earth Beth the best advice he can early Rick would’ve just said some cynical shit while burping halfway through and saying none of this shit matters anyway
The end makes so much sense.
Space Beth hates Jerry's submissive, passive nature and how it trapped her for so long, so she's very into him standing up for himself, even a little. Earth Beth is confused and initially uncomfortable by it because she's accustomed to and feels at home with these aspects of Jerry's personality.
Well I'm glad this makes sense for you but, I am still confused. If Space Beth dislikes jerry why did she have a threesome with him at the end. Or did she just have sex with herself and jerry just likes too watch?
You took the words right outta my mouth
It wasn't so much standing up for himself, more so he manipulated the situation to prey on Beth's nature. Space Beth wasn't really into Jerry "standing up for himself" but was turned on by the idea of humiliating him (which I think was touched upon in the first season as something Beth intentionally does) and Earth Beth liked the back and forth between Space Beth and Jerry which turned her on.
@@williambrown4138 Home Beth and Jerry said before they were wiling to do a threesome, and Jerry didn't manipulated anything this time. He accepted his own fault and removed himself from the picture, he did stood for himself in his own way. Jerry was a manipulative parasite, but remember that this Jerry has put on the work, going to therapy, respecting his wife and children. You can tell how much he has grown when it was compared to season two Jerry a few episodes before.
@@williambrown4138 but its been shown numerous times that beth is turned on when Jerry stands up for himself or acts strong. Chroninburg episode and the tiny rick episode and this one. She likes it when Jerry acts strong and confident but gets turned off when he is arrogant and cocky
Glad to hear someone else pointing out that, especially with the themes of Rick and Morty, that it doesn't matter which Beth is the "real Beth"
Space Beth is tho 😂😂
That whole argument over the relationship they had with Jerry, where Space Beth kept getting more and more defiant. Thats Ricks daughter 😂😂
@@donovanulrich348 nah, that's just speculation and conflicts with the themes of the show
That's irrelevant in the themes of Rick and Morty versus the themes of Beth's character are separate knowing which Beth is the real Beth actually would give us an interesting insight into the real Beth did she ultimately decide to stay or did she leave and it's not like Rick and Morty isn't trying to make us ask this question cuz they keep hitting us in the head with this question
It wouldn't surprise me if they are both clones and Rick had to destroy the original to create them
@@loganboyd6609 no it's not irrelevant. plus it doesn't matter since neither knows who's "real"/or the original and that's literally the point of their characters
Also, damn dude, use some punctuation
The argument about which one is his actually wife, that they mentioned but side-stepped, is quite interesting; since in the opener we had it confirmed that Jerry isn't their original Jerry, and the upshot was their found family was now their real family. So the Beth who stayed IS his wife regardless of technicalities, but then it gets resolved further here
Well we already knew Jerry wasn't original, neither is summer or Beth. Rick potion 9 is the original family
@@MrJackrussell12 Sam's point still stands since that isn't this universe's Beth's original Jerry . We literally get to see what would have happened if he had stayed when he was teleported back to the season 2 family and how he had grown through though the seasons since the Jerriblee.
The main difference is our current jerry has the benefit of going threw the divorce and sees it made him stronger for what ever the hell that means for jerry
Pure narcissism via masturbation... a moral liturgy.
Some how Jerry had the biggest W in this episod.
I will admit, it's the Naruto Baby done right. The show fully admits it's weird, it fits in with the world, but Jerry finally gets a win! I laughed so hard at the stinger!
Yoooo big fan of you!!
Honestly, Jerry's entire life has been an astronomically lucky win. He doesn't deserve literally anything that he has and just keeps getting better and better stuff. Everyone says how sad it is that he's bullied by the family but it's not really bullying, it's them reacting to his shitty personality and obsession with relevance.
Can’t wait to see your opinion on this whole Beth thing on your channel
We already know you finna jump on this one, this episode was WYLD af.
Love your videos
Edit: I also loved how we got to see more of Jerry past as a teenager, I found it intriguing (20th September)
i found this episode to be interesting seeing Beth end up being in a romantic relationship literally with herself, but also still tries to figure out who she is at the same time!
It's future love man, you and your clone can literally do anything to each other.
WOW! Someone that actually likes this episode. Like goddamn not everything has to be super hilarious or thought-provoking. Not saying it to you but just everyone in the comment section that had an issue with it.
@@AL7249 I don't know i thought this episode was hilarious I laughed the whole time
I don't know. when i first watched this episode it made me think that same gender intercourse is one thing, But having sex with a literal clone of yourself? that's just weird and a lot of people no doubt think it's wrong on so many levels.
@@DDarkestKnight tbh if it makes me laugh that's fine, if it doesn't that's fine too. But if it's a character study like this with the few scenes it had and with Jerry's scene after he breaks from the canon, along with the last episode then it basically love it. Plus I don't think I really understand why people have an issue with the two Beths hooking up. I don't consider them the same person, just people that share biology and some life experiences that tamper off to a certain point. I also didn't have an issue with the two Lokis, though I felt that way kinda boring but that's probably due to the series in general.
Ironically even with the themes of control the last scene with Rick hiding the wine the Beth's and Jerry drank suggests that none of it was actually in their control perhaps an allegory for how their attraction is out of their control. If course it could just be a complete red herring or lead to an episode questioning whether their feelings for each other and the threesome was a genuine development or spurred on by the drink. Either way i felt like the drink Rick hid is not talked about enough
Huh, I interpreted it totally differently. I figured him putting the wine away and destroying the remote was Rick's own attempt at asserting control, even if it's likely ineffectual by this point. I know Rick often comes across as always having the upper hand, but I think it makes more sense thematically if even he isn't completely in control of this situation, so he has to make little efforts like hiding the wine to try and kid himself that he still has some measure of control.
@@vivimos_en_una_sociedad7758 nah from the bit of jerry’s bug form’s explanation we can tell rick is cool with having jerry around more than ever, he isn’t actively lashing at jerry anymore either. that can be seen from jerry bothering the three of them with the puzzle game, if that were seasons 1-4 he’s surely rick would have made a crule comment about it.
@@WitchLunaEstrella are you replying to me or vivi? Cause depending on who suggests greatly different points
@@hahahe767 I honestly have no exact clue why Rick would do this other than his usual roundabout even toxic way of helping people, that being stabilizing the relationship between the Beth's (a similar parerel to what the citadel of ricks were doing forcibly matching Beth's and Jerry's .) Albeit seeing the aftermath I can see that even he did not have full control over the outcome and that he probably hid the wine permanently to prevent further drama. For himself
@@WitchLunaEstrella It would also tie up with (so far) overarching theme of this season, of Rick loosing control. For last two seasons Rick was walking deus ex machina, always in conctrol, alwats better then the oponents, never making mistakes etc. etc. But since start of this season (even more, from finale of the season 5) he is (once again) making misteks, as it is a case with portal travelers reset and he loses control, both in ep. 2 where he is not able to take Martha with him and as you say, in this ep, as well.
It was definitely an uncomfortable episode, but a funny kind of uncomfortable
The reactions of everyone around the two Beths "doing it" are just so fucking funny
Way better than the dragon sex episode and the incest baby episode
What Futurama had with the Roswell episode and it was great
I was surprised and somewhat proud of Jerry at the end there. Also i am surprised that no one is mentioning that this is likely to also be a jab to Loki considering the very awkward situation of falling in love with yourself.
Its narcicism. And jerry loves jerry narcicism
For me I can see the case for it both being narcissistic and being the ultimate form of self love. When it comes to the Beths, I think they have a higher perception of themselves then Jerry does. As the man has pretty had the fact that he is weak and pathetic rubbed into his face since day one. Because of that constant belittling, it’s hard for him to build up his inner confidence without it coming off as ignorant. And if you don’t have self confidence, then you’ll just keep puttering around and making the same mistakes. Now with the Beths, I can see this being one of those situations where both parties finally connect with someone who fully understands them. They laughed together, they had the same interests, and they know each other’s inter personal struggles. I feel like that’s what finding the “one” looks like. Someone who you can see a glimmer of your best self in. Someone who connects with you on a level that no one has before. That’s what made me love this episode. So what if it’s Beth and her self? We got some good character development out of it, and it was beautiful and a bit weird to watch.
@@Eternalbluejays f
Do we know how far back S6 was written? Might be a reference to Loki or just a coincidence and they both came up with the same plot point independently.
@@TBelen91
I believe this type of premise has been around for a while anyway, like I remember even Family Guy did an episode with Brian hooking up with a robot version of himself years ago
In addition to Jerry finally admitting that he's acting pathetic and trying to own up to that, I think it's great that the episode highlights that his problem isn't Beth wanting to have a fling with her clone, it's that she is betraying a relationship they've put a lot of work into by not including him on that decision from the get-go. He and Beth have been going to couple's counseling with Dr. Wong, and they had a threesome with Mr. Nimbus as a result of some of the things they discussed there. He's not possessive of her, he just wants her to be open about it and keep him included in the relationship - even if he only gets to watch.
It's not just character growth for Jerry and Beth as individuals; it's also more development for their relationship as a couple. (Or thruple, if they are indeed in one of those now. I suppose time will tell on that front.)
Honestly great points. I had friends who were a 10 year+ couple that opened their relationship up to great effect for a few years, until one started hiding it. With the trust broken their relationship quickly fell apart.
THAT. That right there ruined the episode for me. For a show so comfortable with consequences, how did Beth actually get away with cheating?
the problem (at least somewhat) DEFINITELY IS that she wants to literally fuck herself. narcissism is LITERALLY A MENTAL ILLNESS.
@@gothamsmostwantedclownbitc7107 yep, i am glad to finally find someone who agrees that this is fucked, i hated this episode so much it made me sick to my stomach.
@@Green_Bean_Machine Thank you! Dude, I know its a cartoon, but what the hell. For a show always finding new ways to make people suffer the consequences of their actions, Beths got away with cheating because they let Jerry in on it the last time?
This episode was HILARIOUS. It's been on my mind all day and I couldn't believe what I was watching at ALL. Rick and Morty season six came out swinging and it's living up to expectations! I'm looking forward to the unexpected directions this show has been going. The new writers really seem to have added fresh ideas to the table.
I sometimes wonder how great the show's last few seasons would have been, if Roiland could have used his concepts that went into Solar Opposites, in rick and Morty, instead of the show stinking of Harmon's cynicism
@@left4twenty i like Harmon cynicism but maybe in a less measure , Harmon is a great writer but funnily enough he gets way too much into his ideas
@@sjie1874 he's not even that great of a writer. I can concede he is a good writer, but I would not say he is a great writer. He is entirely reliant on a team to moderate his ideas into something consumable
@@left4twenty That's honestly a very apt summary. You can always tell when he's overpowering the rest of the team, by noticing when the episodes get too cynical to take anything seriously. It happened in Community, too.

The last 5 mins of this episode had me in literal tears from laughing so hard. Usually R&M isn’t that hilarious to me, but great episode
Yeah you weardo
That passive awkward threesome was so damn funny
It's funny because Jerry, initially had an issue with this kind of deviancy (early in the show, with his parents) but since this one is a Jerry from an alternate timeline he never lived those events. And what do you know, he is his father's son
Are we sure that didn't happen in his old universe?
I mean there is a difference between seeing your parents do that vs yourself doing it. Now summer and morty are in Jerry’s shoes when he did that with two Beth’s
@@zhess4096 Current Jerry is Mr PoopyButthole's universe Jerry. He doesn't exist in the main continuity, but maybe I'm dead wrong
That should have been the only difference between the 2 dimensions, the distinguishing factor
@@nickname_presentable Mr. Poopybutthole was in thr heist episode tho in Season 4
@@zhess4096 Doesn't that mean that this episode was following the alternate family though? Instead of C-137
There is more than 1 episode where Mr poopybdfhf appears, like the Morty's mindblowers. My guess is that we've been switching between the 2 families
I thought it was really interesting how domestic Beth accepts the ambiguity of both of them being Beth, but Space Beth still seems to hold on to the idea that domestic Beth is the clone. I wonder if a big part of this season is about showing Space Beth that she still has a place in the family, where she to come back permanently, even if domestic Beth doesn't go anywhere.
I knew something sexual was going to happen with them at the beginning of the episode just from the flirty ways they were talking and the whole time I kept thinking “no fucking way.” So when they were outside and they looked at eachother that way I was just sitting there jaw dropped. This episode actually had me genuinely shocked and feeling things when I watched it. And actually burst out laughing. GREAT episode
My exact thoughts!
It was sad to know that Jerry doesn't love himself enough to give himself anything more than an exploratory one-and-done kiss.
Or how sad that the Jerry-boree is setup specifically to prevent it.
I mean... not everyone wants to f*ck themselves. I mean i think giving yourself a peck says as much as literally going down on yourself.
I'll be honest even if I like myself I wouldn't kiss other me
Dude knows what he wants and Jerrycest ain't it.
I like myself but I think I'm with Jerry on this one, I may be curious but I don't think I like the idea of fucking myself. Plus we'd both be tops and just end up wrestling so yeah
I have to watch the episode for more context, but this is one of the few times I agree that Jerry is one of the characters we should look up to. Protecting yourself from emotional pain that you know is for a fact is coming, and that you know for a fact you don't deserve and then coming out when you're strong enough seems pretty reasonable , especially in a family full of geniuses that seem to be gluttons for punishment. Like seriously they are smart enough to avoid it but they jump in head first every single f****** day, it's got to be exhausting

The Beths & Jerry was a major highlight of episode.
It might just be because of Naruto, the giant space incest baby, but I wasn’t really bothered by the beths all too much. I just kept thinking it could be much worse…. lol
Wasn't as bad as the Lokis in my opinion.
@@Cheesecake_666 atleast the Lokis were different genders and didn’t look alike 😂

I really liked how the gaming portion served as a fresher take on Interdimensional Cable, where the characters can just casually riff on a bunch of whacky anthology sketches. Overall this episode's writing reminded me a lot of Season 1's in just how lowkey and down-to-earth it is. Pretty good.
At least Rick and Morty are honest about what BethxBeth is unlike the Loki series
Yes, exactly. I'm absolutely fine with shows exploring taboo subjects, but they should have the guts to be upfront and honest about it.
@@EmeralBookwise unfortunately if it means they could lose money then more often then not they're going choose to play it safe
It isn't incest, it's masturbation... also a beautiful jab at past Beths narcissism, to me. Jerry was a freaking stunner in this one too.
Nope it’s incest, tell that to identical twins in real life.
It's self-cest at the very least. You can't rape your hand, and your hand can't rape you. You can, theoretically, be raped by your clone. Just as you can rape your clone. Given they're independant actors, it's incestous. While I would wager it's not on par with sisters and twins, it's fucking close.
Wouldn’t it technically be selfcest?
from the character exploration to the hookup, the entire thing was intensely amazing. so much to laugh at, so much go "hot damn" to and so many "oooh i get it" moments. peak rick and morty.
I like how they're mixing sci-fi aspects with character explorations, with the last season finale the audience expected continuity in a sense that we would get a constant storyline, but I like how we also get more character progression and development now that they can actually change and evolve.
The main take away here is that… Jerry was right when she first came ?!
My man Jerry is becoming steadily more impressive as time goes on
And thank you for really jus focusing on character development rather than the crazy ass storylines bc that’s what this season is about. We’ve had 2 straight seasons with the exception of a few episodes, be just fun adventures. It’s now time to character develop!
Ur insane pumping these EXTREMELY well done in depth videos within a day of them being released
I've long maintained that Sci-Fi rigmarole aside, my favorite episodes are the one when the whole family is involved. The dialogue is just the best.
More importantly, how amazing it that the most pitiful guy in the multiverse, who very specifically uses the pity he inspires in people as a survival mechanism, managed to use pity to get himself into the most incredible sexual escapade this side of the finite curve. Go Jerry!!!
Personally I think the most incredible sexual escapade was Rick hang-gliding into a stadium full of redhead alien chicks and having an orgy while being praised by aliens who kind of resemble his father... But yeah for Jerry this was a pretty incredible one.
The one thing I hate about both Beth’s it’s just so self righteous they are, I mean everything about them
I could be wrong but. I feel like the details of space beth having a picture with all of them in her apartment, and also rick hiding the venusian wine at the end of the episode, are potentially foreshadowing space beth trying to take back Beth's life with Jerry and the kids.
I might disagree if not for how crazy this episode was, shit anything is possible. Except for them being a loving functional normal family.
I love how open you are that you see deeper than most. It is greatly appreciate especially with explicit content
This episode is probably a top 10 one for me, all the characters feel like who they are, Rick felt like the perfect combination of season 1&2 Rick and 3-5 Rick, he’s still giving these existential lectures but he’s also d!cking around with Summer and Morty by playing games with them and getting but hurt when they don’t give him a controller or when he’s playing the ai generated story game (I know it’s a reference to an older game, don’t know the name of it) and says “f&ck more forest”
A dark room!! Honestly a great game
It's like a day in the life episode. No huge threat or deadly adventure, just a day with the smith family. Reminds me of the first interdimensional cable.
I am so impressed with how quickly you made and put out this video.
This was the funniest episode in the season so far. It had me in f__king tears. And we been worry about Rick emotionally scaring Morty and Summer but no, it was the Beths that freaking destroyed them, hell the whole family, hell, even Rick was disturb by this $hit.
I fucking loved the moment Jerry folded up into a pillbug. I did not expect it for a second, but it absolutely makes sense which in my mind is the perfect joke/twist.
I like Rick and morty and summer’s dynamic in this episode ricks jaded so of course he has the least amount of reaction but summer and morty had the funniest reaction great episode all around
This episode was SO good!! Really enjoying this season so far, I think this one’s my new favourite!! Looking forward to next week’s episode!!
Can't remember the last time I laughed this much at an episode of Rick and Morty.
i wish they didnt kill off prime or cronenberged jerry he had alot of potential
This episode was sooo good and hilarious, I loved the end credit scene with Jerry lol I'm just curious how he got there on his own, maybe it's something as simple as he snuck onto Ricks ship before he went to that planet, or maybe he found a way to be a space hitch hiker and traveled with intergalactic truckers lol
Finding someone that can give you an objective opinion on how feeling is actually a really good relationship goal to have. That’s some nice writing in the show there.
This episode feels almost like an apology for the Giant Space Baby episode. They're both base the comedy around a weird taboo but the difference is that Giant Baby's comedy was focused on the sheer shock value of it. Here the comedy is focused on everyone's REACTION to it
It kind of reminds me of that gag from Futurama: Bender’s Big Score when Nudar goes back in time and hooks up with himself. 😂
This isn't as disturbing as they are each other's clones.
it's not disturbing because it might be incest or whatever, it's disturbing that a person is so unbelievable full of themselves that when they meet their clone they start falling in love and fucking it.

To be fair, it's the side of Beth that is more carefree and Rick-like, so it makes sense that she'd be more toxic. What I don't like is that virtually no one pushed back at her, I mean it ticked me off that she accused Jerry of cheating as well because there is a chance that he was with clone Beth the whole time. I love these videos but I kind of wish the episode titles didn't spoil major aspects of the episode. Not everyone can watch it on Sunday night or immediately when it premieres so it's kind of frustrating to immediately get spoiled on certain aspects just because I"m subscribed to the channel. I love Johnny 2 Cellos work, especially his Bojack analysis. It's just frustrating to get spoilers on Monday via the thumbnail if you don't immediately have access to the episode or are behind.
I loved this fucking episode a ton this was hilarious but also a huge character synopsis for Beth and another strong episode to a great season so far.
Yeah, yeah, that's great. Look, you're getting excited about the wrong aspect of this episode. Not since ‘Rick Potion No. 9’ has an episode been so dementedly twisted, so conceptually dark, and so hilariously traumatic to Morty. Only this time Summer gets an equal share. Let’s just break this down: Sleeping with one’s clone is weird enough. (It’s not thematically unprecedented in Sci-Fi, but personally I’ve only seen it done with time travel.) I mean, if it was just a Rule 34 thing it might be easily dismissed. But no, that wouldn’t be Rick and Morty. Summer discovers Beths’ dirty little secret and is psychologically traumatized. Morty discovers their dirty little secret and is psychologically traumatized. Jerry gets told and is emotionally traumatized. Rick finds out and is like: “yeah, whatever.” Classic Rick and Morty! The way each character deals with it is true to form, too. The kids try to escape and ignore it. Jerry does the most Jerry thing he could possibly do. Mom Beth neurotically overanalyzes it, Space Beth emulates Rick, and then they both selfishly decide to Eternal Sunshine themselves. And Rick shows off his ass tattoo. Then, to cap everything off, Jerry is fine being cuckolded by his wife’s clone while Summer and Morty just have to get over it. The only thing new is that Rick is stuck trying to help the kids ignore it. But he still doesn’t give a shit. Or he pretends not to.
And at the end of the day, isn’t that what 'Rick and Morty' is really all about? Morty being continuously traumatized by an uncaring, dysfunctional family especially grandpa? That dysfunction being passed down generation to generation, in concert with all the abandonment issues it produces, like a biblical case of alcoholism? And Rick being fully aware and pretending not to give a shit? Well, in my book it is. And in my book, that is when this show is at its best. And funniest. That dark, dark, psychologically twisted, sweet dark humor. Best episode in a long time.
This is a really strong episode. It’s pretty self-contained in terms of locations and characters, focusing on the Smith household and does character exploration in a uniquely Rick and Morty way without going as mind blower inducing territory as giant incest baby (why did Space Beth have to bring him up, did he somehow cross dimensions with the rest of this version of the family or is he that much of a universal constant?). I feel sorry for Morty and Summer, having to not only deal with that their moms were acting on an attraction to each other but that Jerry watching made it even more of a turn on!
Rick trying to remedy The trauma at during dinner was absolutely hilarious
the best underlying thing in this episode was rick admitting he hangs out and drinks with Jerry and gave him what he most wanted and also shared what he most wanted. (the butt tattoos)
The crazy thing is, is that summer, and Morty spent the episode after they found out about the Beths trying to protect Jerry. They love him.
if we’re being honest who wouldn’t forget icecream with their clone😭
It's also incredibly interesting to consider your first thoughts on Survivor Jerry maybe getting with Space Beth. But this where they are a trouple makes more sense.
I like this episode as we finally get the Jerry development Ive been waiting for years.
I wish you would have touched on the end scene with the alcohol cabinet and what it might entail, but other than that i absolutely LOVE hearing such well thought out content by a fan who isn't 100% up their own ass. What a great analysis
i thought the scenes with space beth and beth were repulsing but the scenes with rick, morty, and summer also being repulsed made the episode so much funnier. jerry’s cocoon was also really funny. overall not the greatest of episodes but i definitely laughed more than i usually do at rick and morty
Narcissus our name is Beth Sanchez.
ok so I have some strong opinions on this episode. this was one of the funniest in ages for sure. all the dinner table scenes were top notch humor. what the episode did was strongly and probably permanently change my opinions on all the main characters.
- first up, it made me like morty and summer a lot more. that shit would be traumatic for any kid and they shared some very real moments by being there for eachother. some of the most heartwarming interactions I've seen between the 2. also mort is apparently not a slave to rick, which is smth many people were afraid of after the last episode.
- also while he threw out his idgaf one-liners, rick was amazing here. he gave valuable and fitting advice and cared about his kids and grankids
- however I like beth (both I guess) much less now. I know the whole "conversation with myself" angle was very well done and interesting, but in the end she cheated on jerry, who went through so much shit with her. no mental gymnastics or "make up 3some" is gonna change that fact. it may be played for laughs in the future but to me personally that is kinda unfogiveable.
the episode was weird but entertained the shit out of me for its entire runtime, unlike other weird episodes like the one with the dragons. I must say the writing on this season so far has been incredible. not a single mediocre episode
Beth has long been the most insufferable member of the family imo
@@vivimos_en_una_sociedad7758 I agree! After all they have been through, it only makes sense to see some growth in rick. I would even say it'd be a plothole if he went back to certain mean an malicious patterns. This episode was amazing for him. He wad funny and mean on the surface but he handled an incredibly tough situation in his family in an optimal way. He tried to help everybody else while not falling out of character
Oh my god I love it 😭😫😫 I can’t watch the season right now so I’m happy to have your videos! I love this one!! I love the character building for Beth! And the relationship with herself!
This season so far has been so great and this episode was so funny to me. I'm loving it so far, much much better than last two seasons IMO.
This episode made me feel so weird. Self-cest is one of those concepts that squicks me out in general, but the way Beth and Space Beth's romance was so damn good. The way they can switch from flirty, to contemplative, and then to horny is the kind of dynamic that I love in romance stories. Like if this were any other couple, I'd be looking up fanfic and fanart of them the moment the episode was over. Even outside of that the rest of the episode was really good too. I love the conversation Rick and Beth have about "forgetting the ice cream" and the confrontation Jerry has with the two Beth's had me cackling. I'm not gonna be ride or die for Beth x Space Beth (no matter how good some of the fanart I've come across is) but I'm really impressed with how well executed the idea was.
Despite the taboo nature of the subject it can be perceived as an allegory to love yourself and live for yourself. That doesn't make you a bad person or a bad parent, but your needs are just as important as your responsibilities if not more so.
Banging your genetic twin isnt an allegory though. At least there’s no baby making involved so it’s pretty much ok.
Its also not real. So whatever
@@anubis7457 you don’t know what an allegory is do you? This is a fictional story. It’s not real and there can be multiple meanings behind it. Sometimes stories aren’t at face value. It’s the same as “don’t throw rocks if you have a glass house.” There’s no literal glass house.
@@Lvestfold4143 I was talking about the internal universe. Beth wasn’t metaphorically fucking herself, she was literally doing it. By the most general definition of allegory, every story is an allegory, but that’s not useful.
When people say allegory, they usually mean simple stories with a clear moral lesson. Your glass house example is one, it is short, to the point, and easy to understand.
Beth’s story is very complex and a character driven, allegories rarely even have character names.
@@anubis7457 again an allegory is literal in the story, but it’s fictitious for us and can be applied allegorically.
The episode that made me hate Beth and applaud Jerry for finally standing up for himself
They've been doing bait and switches in these episodes
Each of them has been presented as a classic Rick and Morty episode by the ads
But the episodes themselves have been more character driven than ever and I love it
The intro got me really worried about the direction of this episode, but it delivered pretty decently. I laughed pretty damn hard watching this episode, but I'm still fiending for season 1 vibes
Honestly this season had already won me over again. The show is at its strongest when its a bit more genuine and less cynical ironically.
Hard agree. It always has that absurdist background radiation, and it goes to great lengths to show that the universe doesn't care about us intrinsically. That said, the show shines brightest when those irrelevant little specks of light we call characters have the courage to give a shit in spite of it all. And I think that's beautiful.
1:15
Maybe, but Naruto, the Giant Incest Baby prepared us for this
I would like to mention something that might have been forgotten by many people. With regards to the suspected love potion in the after credits, if it is the same potion from croninberg it has no effect on blood relatives so no effect on beth with clone beth. Jerry, despite being a husband is not a blood relative so it would have worked in that direction. Also love potions are person specific if that’s important.
So she inherited her father's narcissism
Thanks for doing it
Wish you had covered the Jerry ending, it was really insightful and nice.
If I had a clone or if a met a multi verse version of me, well I would be my own brother and friend.. Dude this shit is self-cest HAHAHA
"Even though this is gonna be the most r34 search term for the next few weeks"
Yep, and in gonna be there at the party
Did shadman write this episode?
Unlikely, his depictions gets a bit too "messy" for this to be his.
Shadman wrote the incest baby episode
It is impressive how rapidly you can crank these out without sacrificing integrity and quality. 👌🏻👌🏻👏🏻
This episode was one of the weirder ones in the series but ever since episode 1 where they picked up the original Season 2 Jerry, you can really see how much the family started caring for Jerry compared to how they really beat him down in the past seasons like how Morty and Summer tried to hide Beths affair to protect him and even the fact that Rick had ANOTHER adventure with Jerry that ended up with Jerry getting a self defense mechanism and Rick getting tattoos of him and Jerry as eagles. I am actually really glad that Jerry is getting the love he deserves (despite being completely useless and doesn't understand most hints people give him)
This was the worst thing I've watched all year. This 22 minute episode somehow felt even longer than watching Morbius.
I think that the Beth x Beth thing was great for the exploration of her character, as you said, but it was also just... kinda funny. It lended to the humor well, especially since it was "weird" by conventional standards but there's nothing wrong with it.
Also the after-credits scene was pretty funny.
Is it just me or did this episode feel a lot longer than it was, but in a good way?
It was able to tell a lot in 22mins and really got me interested in the story, which is something I've been missing from the series. I hope S6 keeps up the good stories.
This season is like the best season so far I swear. Even better than first season
I'm liking it too, but it surely has a bad taste yet. I mean, the first episode they killed the cool Jerry and Reseted the original's Jerry development (Even if not much, he still had something), the other episode they literally reseted Morty's and Rick development (By Rick letting a part of Morty stays in the simulation means that he is like the others Ricks who just wanted a Morty for their own ego (and it makes the first episode scene where Rick almost kills himself bt trying to kill Rick Prime kinda useless)) and now Beth is in love with herself?!
Like, wtf?! XD
I sorta agree, but to me the first season isn't thaaaaat good, I mean it's great but Season 3 is my personal favorite, this current season sure can become the best if they keep it up like this.
@@pedrovitor5324 eh hard disagree. It was that version of Morty that wanted to stay not Rock forcing her to stay. I guarantee it was her "one stipulation" she wanted before telling the rest of the population to get in the ships. Not to mention I think Rick in his own way genuinely cared for Marta if he didn't he would just let the game get reset and have her die but instead he makes sure she has the rest of her life.
I knew this would happen right after Space Beth said "that's a cute outfit" lol
The show has become someone's poorly disguised fetish
Although the end credits scene made it all worth it
Most people got that attitude after the incest baby episode but this one was really not that bad. It was awkward and cringe but in a good way. Just have an open mind expect good but also bad episodes and you'll never be dissapointed. Also don't tell me you wouldn't try to bang with yourself if you had the oportunity 😆
Agreed
The thing that made me laugh hardest was the post credits scene where you see what Jerry would do with another version of himself. And it ends with a thumbs up and a thank you. Lol.
I felt a lot like Rick in this episode because I differentiated Beth from Space Beth, and nobody will ever know who the original Beth is because of how thorough Rick was. (Took the labels off while he wasn’t looking, drank heavily, covered them up, and, mixed the pair hundreds of times) They are both his daughter and he should have made that clearer to them sooner, but I guess they get it now. I was laughing so hard through the whole episode, but the Beths’ needed this and to reconcile their feelings along with Jerry. I didn’t judge them for it and if they were honest about it from the start, so much drama could have been avoided.
"I like humiliating a little pervert" killed me
I really wasn’t a big fan of the Beth x Space Beth stuff, but the video game subplot was really funny. Certainly an interesting episode, not really sure how to react to it all because it was a lot to take in.
Something I wanted to point out was the end scene where Rick finds the wine both Beth's drank and put it in a secret storage before destroying the remote that allowed access to it.
One has to wonder if this was Rick's attempt to get Beth away from Jerry or if the wine was even a factor at all.
But its something that also helps build a mystery behind how this all went down
I like to think Rick thought the wine would be good for Thanksgiving but after the shit went down he decided to hide it
I felt for Morty and Summer in this episode.
Don't care what it says about me... this is my favorite Rick and Morty episode yet ! Totally on board with Beth getting in touch with herself.
There’s no way people think that both Beth’s are in the right ??
This episode taught me two things: Beth and space Beth are super hot together, and Jerry clearly has a humiliation kink. Which in itself explains a lot.
One thing I'm curious about is the end credit scene. How are there more Jerrys in the Jerryboree when portal traveller's were sent back to their original universes? Rick's and mortys leave their jerrys in jerriborees across tons of different universes but without the portal network there shouldn't be jerrys in there anymore.
5:25 "Metaphorically something we should kind of all strive for the ability to be honest with ourselves even when it's most difficult"
I'm all for being honest with yourself but can a clone version of yourself really offer an objective perspective of what you're going through. Is it possible that maybe we don't know ourselves as well as we think we do? And that even an outside perspective from another version of yourself may still have tunnel vision?
